Sun Feb 9 201418:37Sergio Mitre looks to make squad in Japan
Patrick Newman of NPB Tracker reports that Sergio Mitre is in camp on a trial basis with the Rakuten Golden Eagles in Japan.
The 32-year-old right-hander hasn't pitched in the Major Leagues since the 2011 season when he was a member of the Yankees. He isn't quite ready to hang em' up yet though, so he'll look to rebuild his value in Japan before perhaps coming back stateside.

Yankees transferred RHP Sergio Mitre from the 15-day to the 60-day disabled list.
He was cleared to make room for Rafael Soriano on the 40-man roster. Mitre was placed on the disabled list with shoulder tendinitis last week and was being sent for an MRI on Friday, so it sounds like the Yankees are confident he will need to be out for a while.

Sergio Mitre will soon undergo further tests on his shoulder.

Tue Jul 19 201117:17Yanks place RHP Mitre (shoulder) on DL
Yankees placed RHP Sergio Mitre on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 16, with right shoulder tendinitis.
Mitre has been sick over the past few days, so he was likely going to be unavailable in the short-term, anyway. The 30-year-old right-hander has allowed nine runs (seven earned) on nine hits over 5 1/3 innings since being reacquired by the Yankees at the end of June. Steve Garrison has replaced him on the active roster.

Fri Mar 25 201111:43Brewers, Yankees swap Mitre and Dickerson
Brewers acquired RHP Sergio Mitre from the Yankees for OF Chris Dickerson.
Mitre gives the Brewers another stretched-out arm to help with the early-season absence of Zack Greinke and possibly Shaun Marcum. The 30-year-old righty will probably serve mostly in a long relief role, but he could see several starts in April and might carry sneaky value in NL-only fantasy leagues. Mitre posted a shiny 3.33 ERA and 1.09 WHIP across 54 innings last season.

Fri Mar 25 201111:05Brewers acquire Sergio Mitre from Yankees
According to ESPN's Jerry Crasnick, the Brewers have acquired Sergio Mitre from the Yankees.
Mitre has struggled to the tune of a 5.73 ERA over 11 innings this spring and was probably on the fence for an Opening Day roster spot with the Yanks. The Brewers can use him as a rotation fill-in while Shaun Marcum and Zack Greinke recover from their respective injuries. That, or they might just stick him in long relief.

Mon Mar 14 201111:45Mitre (oblique) hoping to pitch by Thursday
Serigo Mitre (oblique) is hoping to be able to pitch again by Thursday.
The right-hander was scratched from a scheduled appearance Monday due to soreness on his left side. Mitre is pretty confident that he doesn't have a strain, but the Yankees may run an MRI on him Monday or Tuesday to be sure. He's still in the running for a final rotation spot or long relief gig.

Mon Mar 14 201111:18Mitre scratched Monday with oblique issue
Sergio Mitre was scratched from his scheduled Monday appearance due to an apparent oblique injury.
Manny Banuelos will start in his place. If Mitre indeed has an oblique injury, he could be sidelined for up to a month. That would open things up for Freddy Garcia, Bartolo Colon and Ivan Nova, who would fill out the final two spots in the Yanks' rotation and the club's final relief opening. It's not yet clear which pitcher would get which spot.

Mon Mar 7 201121:38Mitre hurls three scoreless innings Monday

The candidates for the final two spots in the starting rotation continue to bring their A-game. Mitre allowed three hits while striking out three and walking none. He now has five scoreless innings under his belt this spring. Mitre might not end up with a rotation spot, but he'll likely stick on the roster anyway since he's out of options.

Sat Jul 24 201011:41Yankees activate Mitre for Saturday start
Yankees activated RHP Sergio Mitre from the 15-day disabled list.
Mitre, who has been out with an oblique injury, will start Saturday for the Yanks and looks to remain in the rotation for a few weeks while Andy Pettitte is on the DL. The right-hander held a 4.61 ERA in his rehab starts but did strike out 16 while walking only two over 13 2/3 innings.
Tue Jul 20 201000:54Mitre (oblique) makes final rehab start
Sergio Mitre (oblique) gave up three runs over 4 2/3 innings in his final minor league rehab start with Triple-A Scranton-Wilkes Barre on Monday night.
It doesn't look great, but keep in mind that two of the runs scored after Mitre left the game. All told, Mitre gave up four hits -- all singles -- while striking out four and walking two. He threw 48 out of 73 pitches for strikes. Mitre is expected to take the place of the injured Andy Pettitte in the starting rotation next week. He's an interesting pick for those willing to gamble in AL-only and even deeper mixed formats.
