Sat May 28 201116:17Gload unlikely to go under-the-knife
Ross Gload's hip injury is not expected to land him on the disabled list.
According to Phillies beat writer Matt Gelb, Gload's only two real options are to play through the minor tear in his hip, or undergo season-ending surgery. Used almost exclusively as a pinch hitter, don't expect the Phillies to shut Gload down unless he's obviously encumbered at the plate.

Ross Gload (groin) may be placed on the disabled list Tuesday when second baseman Chase Utley is activated.
Gload has missed four straight games since straining his right groin in the middle of last week. If he shows no improvement by Tuesday, a shortened stint on the disabled list would make complete sense. That roster move could be made retroactive to August 12 so that he's eligible by month's end.
