Rush showed up to training camp in better condition than he had at last year's training camp, CSN Bay Area reports.

Rush's conditioning last season was related to some back soreness, but he never regained a level fitness to help the Warriors. A Rush with a sleeker physique is more ready to compete for minutes behind Klay Thompson. Leandro Barbosa and Ben Gordon are Rush's biggest challengers to that playing time.

Rush was buried on the Warriors bench this season. He averaged 0.9 points, 1.2 rebounds, 0.4 assists, 0.4 blocks, and 0.2 steals in eight minutes per game through 33 games in 2014-15.

At 29-years-old, the seven-year NBA veteran is under team control through 2015-16. With the additions of Shaun Livingston and Leandro Barbosa to the Warriors, and Klay Thompson solidified as a starter, Rush found it hard to crack the roster this season. His shooting efficiency was atrocious at 20 percent from the field, 11 percent from three, and 46 percent from the free-throw line. Barring injury to Thompson, Barbosa, or Livingston, Rush will most likely return to a limited bench role next season.

Rush has officially opted into his contract for the 2015-16 season, Eric Pincus of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Rush played in just 33 games for the Warriors during the 2014-15 season, while also recording a career low of eight minutes per game. With the majority of the Warriors' lineup set to stay intact, Rush will most likely continue to see very limited minutes and thus remain irrelevant in the fantasy sphere barring any injuries higher up in the depth chart.

Rush has yet to make an appearance in the playoffs for the Warriors after three games against the Pelicans.

Rush saw some time off the bench over the course of the regular season but coach Steve Kerr has tightened up his lineup for the playoffs and the 29-year-old veteran is a casualty of that happenstance. Unless things get out of hand one way or another, the former Jayhawk will most likely stay put on the bench.
