Castro will remain in the Dodgers organization, joining the front office as a special assistant. The 38-year-old played 17 major league seasons, which is quite an accomplishment given that he finishes with a career batting line of .229/.269/.327 and just 36 home runs over 1,103 games.

Castro had an MRI on Friday. Jimmy Rollins still appears to be a couple of weeks away, so Wilson Valdez will start until Castro feels better.

Juan Castro, who left Wednesday's game with what the Phillies called a "left hamstring strain," believes he will be fine.
"Hopefully it's just a cramp, nothing more," Castro said after the Phillies' victory over the Cardinals. "I think (Thursday) we can tell more." The infielder is being relied on to fill in at shortstop for Jimmy Rollins, who is on the disabled list with a calf injury. If he's forced to miss more than a few days, Wilson Valdez could gain legitimate value in NL-only leagues.

Castro was hurt sprinting down the first-base line on an infield single in the seventh inning. Wilson Valdez replaced him on the bases and at shorts. The Phils are already down one shortstop: Jimmy Rollins.

Juan Castro had two hits and three RBI while starting in place of Jimmy Rollins (calf) on Friday.
Castro is locked in as the starting shortstop until Rollins gets back, but he's a career .231 hitter with 36 home runs and five stolen bases in 2,496 at-bats. Owners should have already looked elsewhere for a Rollins replacement in most formats.
