Williams (Achilles) will miss the 2015 season, Denver Post writer Troy Renck reports.

Williams wasn't likely to push for much more than a punt returner role on the bottom third of the receiver depth chart, so his injury shouldn't affect the offense much.

Williams injured his hamstring while running a route. He now joins fellow wide receivers Junior Hemingway and Mark Harrison as players who have gone down with hamstring injuries. Prior to the injury, Williams was having a solid camp, but with so much competition at wide receiver, an extended absence could potentially cost him a roster spot.

Williams tore his ACL for the second time in as many years in November and underwent surgery in December. He appeared in one game for the Chiefs after being claimed off waivers from the 49ers. ESPN Chiefs reporter Adam Teicher expects Williams to get a chance to win the slot receiver job vacated by Dexter McCluster, but he'll be competing with Junior Hemingway and rookies Weston Dressler and DeAnthony Thomas.

Even when healthy, Williams is a long shot to make Kansas City's roster. Jon Baldwin and Chris Harper will likely be scratched on game day.
