Tue Oct 15 201313:12Spurs waive Corey Maggette, who may retire
The Spurs waived Corey Maggette on Tuesday.
Maggette said that he'd retire if he didn't make the team, so this may have been his last hurrah in an NBA uniform. He reportedly may join the Pistons in a front-office capacity, after a 14-year NBA career that he'll finish with averages of 16.0 points, 4.9 rebounds, 2.1 assists per game.

Mon Oct 14 201310:14Corey Maggette fights to continue NBA career
Corey Maggette scored 10 points in 27 minutes as a starter on Sunday, and Gregg Popovich said that he's "caught on to what [the Spurs] are trying to do."
Maggette went 8-of-8 from the FT line and he could bring some offense and SF depth to the bench, but his roster spot isn't guaranteed. There will be extra scrutiny on him in the coming week because he said he plans to retire if the Spurs waive him.

Sun Oct 13 201320:14Corey Maggette will retire if Spurs cut him
Corey Maggette said that he'll retire from the NBA if he doesn't make the Spurs' roster this season.
Sam Young was waived this week which gives a boost to Maggette's efforts, though even if he makes the team he'll play limited minutes as a backup SF. "If I could get an opportunity here, it would be great," he said. "If not, this game has been good to me." Maggette is only 33 years old but he's played 14 NBA seasons and injuries have taken a heavy toll on his body.

Sun Oct 13 201314:33Corey Maggette will start on Sunday
Corey Maggette will start at small forward on Sunday.
The Spurs are just giving Maggette a look, so it's not something they'll be doing during the season. Obviously, Kawhi Leonard's job is safe and he could have a monster season in 2013-14.

Thu Sep 26 201315:33Corey Maggette to join Spurs at camp
Corey Maggette will join the Spurs for training camp.
His slashing style could fit in with Coach Pop's system, but he's no spring chicken anymore at age 33. Maggette's hamstring issues have cost him a number of games over his career and his lack of durability will be a major roadblock to him providing consistent production. He's no lock to make the team.

Thu Aug 22 201322:49Corey Maggette considering return to NBA
Corey Maggette said that he would "love to come back" to the Detroit Pistons.
"Overall, I'm just waiting and being patient and see what opportunity comes," Maggette said. "You always got to explore your options, but if the Pistons want me back, it's great, man. I would love to come back." His hamstring have been one of the most troublesome areas among all NBA players, so it would be a mild shock to see the Pistons take a chance and bring him back. The team does have Luigi Datome to back up Josh Smith a small forward, so it's not really a pressing need.

Free agent Corey Maggette is hoping to play one more season before exploring front office opportunities.
Maggette, 33, has appeared in just 50 games over the last two seasons. There hasn't been any known interest in him this offseason. Per Hoopsworld, Maggette recently took part in the NBPA's Leadership Development Program, a precursor to an executive job.

Mon Mar 25 201308:53Maggette without explanation for benching
Corey Maggette, who hasn't since December 15, said that he has never received a reason for his benching.
"No one told me anything," he said. "Do I know why? No. Is there a reason why I shouldn't be playing? No." The Pistons will continue to play their younger players and evaluate their future, and we think it's safe to say that the veteran won't be back with the team next season.

Corey Maggette hopes to sign a new contract with an NBA team this summer.
Retirement has been a possibility for Maggette, but he's feeling confident after "a full year recovering," which is to say not playing. He hasn't played in a game in nearly three months but he's open to returning as a mentor with the Pistons. Regardless of where he lands, the former fantasy stud is no longer a viable option.

Corey Maggette received another DNP-CD against the Knicks on Thursday.
Maggette missed time earlier in the month with the flu, although it seems like he's just not getting any run these days. Even when healthy, he's a non-factor for fantasy owners.

Sun Jan 6 201319:23Corey Maggette (flu) likely out on Saturday
Corey Maggette (flu) is not expected to be available for the Pistons on Saturday.
The veteran SF has been racking up DNP-CDs recently, stuck behind Tayshaun Prince and Austin Daye in the rotation. Even at full health he's not a fantasy option.

Fri Dec 21 201218:18Corey Maggette will be inactive Friday night

Maggette has played sparingly all season and received DNP-CD's the last two games. He should be nowhere near any fantasy lineup.

Wed Nov 14 201222:06Corey Maggette back in action for Pistons
Corey Maggette returned from a calf injury on Wednesday and had nine points on 2-of-3 shooting in 22 minutes.
It will take a little time for Maggette to get his timing back, but that next injury could be just around the corner, as well. We're not picking him up in most leagues at this point and he'll probably do more to stifle the development of Kyle Singler than anything else.

Wed Nov 14 201210:12Corey Maggette optimistic he's ready to debut
Corey Maggette (calf) says he's ready to go and thinks he'll play Wednesday night against the 76ers.
Maggette also noted the decision rests in the hands of coaching staff. While he has zero fantasy value of his own, Maggette will likely further limit the role of Kyle Singler, who had been manning the Pistons' sixth man spot.

Tue Nov 13 201212:34Corey Maggette (calf) closing in on return
Corey Maggette (calf) worked out his calf at practice Monday and could return Wednesday.
Maggette said the injury is almost healed, but the return date is up to the coaching staff. Given his lengthy injury history and limited role, Maggette has little to no fantasy value except to cut into Kyle Singler's sixth-man role.

Mon Nov 12 201218:23Corey Maggette (calf) out again on Monday
Corey Maggette (calf) will miss another game on Monday.
It sounds like he's nearing a return, possibly Wednesday at Philadelphia or Friday vs. Orlando. His return will likely cut into Kyle Singler's new sixth-man role, and owners should avoid Maggette in all formats.

Sat Nov 10 201218:53Corey Maggette still out with calf injury
Corey Maggette (calf) will not play on Saturday.
Mags has dealt with this injury for a few weeks now and he's known for being a slow healer. Once he can come back, he'll still be tough to own in even deep leagues because of how often he's on the injury report.
