Sat Jun 30 201220:43Cavs keep Erden as restricted FA
The Cavaliers gave a $1.1 million qualifying offer to center Semih Erden, making him a restricted FA.
Erden fell out of favor with the Cavs after being acquired from the Celtics, and he averaged just 11 minutes per game last year, but the big man has enough upside to warrant a $1.1 million flier.

Sat Jun 23 201209:48Semih Erden hopes to remain in the NBA
Semih Erden's agent denied a rumor that Erden signed with a team in Turkey, emphasizing that his client wants to re-sign in the NBA.
"[Erden] has some interest from teams in the NBA and then we have very good offers from Europe," his agent said. "We will make a decision, I believe, by mid-July. His first option is to play in the NBA, but it all depends on the contract and the coach." Erden showed flashes of solid play as a rookie with Boston, but never found favor with coach Byron Scott after being traded to Cleveland.

Tue Apr 24 201215:41Semih Erden may not be back with Cavs
Coach Byron Scott said he doesn't know if the Cavs will extend a qualifying offer to Semih Erden (ankle, doubtful) this summer.
The qualifying offer to Erden would be for roughly $1.1 million. If the Cavs don't make the offer, he'll become an unrestricted free agent. Erden flopped badly with a chance as the starting center after Anderson Varejao's injury this season, averaging just 5.0 points and 4.1 rebounds in that role.

Mon Apr 16 201200:06Semih Erden still a ways off
Semih Erden (ankle) is still 4-5 days away from returning to practice.
Erden hopes to return before the season ends, but it's not looking good. With Anderson Varejao (wrist) also out indefinitely, inconsistent Tristan Thompson's role is secure.

Thu Apr 12 201215:20Semih Erden out Friday and Saturday
Semih Erden (ankle) will not play on Friday or Saturday.
Erden's sprain appears severe. It opens up a shade more minutes for Tristan Thompson and Samardo Samuels.

Thu Apr 12 201206:43Semih Erden on crutches after the game
Semih Erden (ankle) was seen sporting crutches after Wednesday's game.
Erden sprained his ankle very badly and it's entirely possible he'll be out for the remainder of the season. Anderson Varejao could be back next week, but Tristan Thompson is staring at all of the minutes he can handle down the stretch.

Wed Apr 11 201219:47Semih Erden leaves with sprained ankle
Semih Erden suffered a sprained right ankle while driving for a layup on Wednesday and was helped to the locker room by teammates.
Replays were tough to watch and it's very possible Erden's season is now over, although we'll call him day-to-day for now. Anderson Varejao could be back next week, but this should just mean more minutes for Tristan Thompson when all is said and done.

Sat Mar 3 201222:13Semih Erden out of Cavaliers' rotation
Semih Erden went from starting for the Cavaliers to being completely out of the rotation on Saturday.
Erden has been on thin ice for a while now, so the demotion isn't shocking. Ryan Hollins is hardly a more capable starting NBA center, however, and we could just as easily see Erden back in the rotation next week -- either way, he's irrelevant in standard fantasy formats.

Tue Feb 28 201207:23Semih Erden to remain Cavs starting center
Semih Erden will remain the starting center for Tuesday's game against the Celtics.
Erden was benched in a game before the All-Star break due to a lack of effort, and despite Byron Scott previously stating he'd consider making changes to the starting five, Erden will remain the starter for at least one more game. Erden has managed just 5.5 points and 4.0 rebounds in six games as a starter.

Thu Feb 23 201216:37Semih Erden was benched on Wednesday
Semih Erden was benched on Wednesday night for lack of effort.
Erden saw just seven minutes of burn before catching a seat on the bench. Below-average talent combined with poor effort is a recipe to lose one's starting job. Ryan Hollins came off the bench for 28 minutes while rookie Tristan Thompson had 10 points and 10 rebounds in just 15 minutes.

Tue Feb 21 201219:48Erden, Gee leave early with injuries
Semih Erden suffered a cut above his eye that required four stitches in the first quarter on Tuesday and is questionable to return for the Cavaliers.
Alonzo Gee also left with a towel over his head and went to the locker room with a possibe nose injury. Erden's injury should mean more minutes for Tristan Thompson, and we'll update Gee's status when we have more information.

Sat Feb 18 201215:32Semih Erden (wrist) expected to start Sun.
Semih Erden is expected to start vs. the Kings on Sunday despite a sore left wrist.
The wrist injury forced Erden to leave Friday's game early, but it doesn't sound too severe. Even healthy, he'd have a big challenge against DeMarcus Cousins.

Fri Feb 17 201223:56Erden suffers wrist injury, unable to return
Semih Erden sustained a bruised left wrist on Friday night and was unable to return to action as the Cavaliers were defeated by the Heat.
Erden posted six points and four rebounds before exiting the game. Owners who took a flier on Erden will surely be disappointed, and we will update you on his status as soon as we know more.

Fri Feb 17 201221:39Semih Erden departs w/ sprained wrist
Semih Erden left Wednesday night's game after suffering a sprained left wrist, and his return is questionable.
The Cavaliers are being blown out by the Heat tonight, so Cleveland likely won't put Erden back in a game that is out of hand. He tallied six points and four rebounds before departing.

Wed Feb 15 201223:51Erden scores career-high 18 pts w/ eight rebs
Semih Erden started at center and scored a career-high 18 points on 7-of-8 shooting with eight rebounds, one assist, and one steal in 32 minutes on Wednesday.
Erden showed flashes of utility in Boston but has flamed out in Cleveland, at least until tonight. With the Cavs frontcourt up for grabs, we'd tend to be a bit more aggressive than we normally would with a guy showing such inconsistency -- and we're going to say he's a must-add if you're in need of a center. From there, he's just a speculative grab with the hopes he can keep it up. Tristan Thompson was non-existent again, playing just 12 minutes with two points and three rebounds.

Mon Feb 13 201200:24Semih Erden expected to start Wednesday
Semih Erden is expected to start against Indiana on Wednesday.
Erden was impressive in limited minutes for Boston last season, but he hasn't found favor in the eyes of Cavs coach Byron Scott. He did nothing in his start on Saturday to warrant picking him up, and could easily lose the starting gig, but he's worth watching in deep leagues.

Sun Feb 12 201209:48Cavs to use platoon in place of Varejao
Byron Scott sounds resigned to filling Anderson Varejao's spot in the rotation with a platoon of big men.
"Those three guys have to be ready," Scott said about Samardo Samuels, Semih Erden and Ryan Hollins. "One guy is not going to be able to do it. All those guys will have to take turns trying to fulfill that spot and that's going to be hard." A three-headed monster at center (or four if you include natural PF Tristan Thompson) should be enough to scare away fantasy owners in average leagues.

Sat Feb 11 201218:35Semih Erden to start at center for Cavaliers
Semih Erden will start at center for the Cavaliers on Saturday, in place of injured Anderson Varejao (fractured wrist).
Byron Scott wouldn't commit to starting Erden beyond this game, and also mentioned Ryan Hollins and Samardo Samuels as potential starters. Erden is worth a speculative add in deep formats, but Tristan Thompson is still likely to see the biggest boost in production -- he wasn't considered to start because he's just coming back from injury.
