Tue Apr 14 201510:34Ike Taylor: Announces Retirement
Taylor announced his retirement from the NFL on Tuesday, NFL.com reports.
The 34-year-old Taylor may have struggled in his final few seasons, but he was the Steelers' top cornerback for the majority of his career. While he was never known for his hands and will retire with just 14 interceptions, Taylor was one of the league's better cover corners during his prime. With Troy Polamalu also retiring this offseason, the Pittsburgh secondary will be much younger in 2015. The Steelers figure to target a cornerback within the first few rounds of the upcoming draft, as their current options are underwhelming.

Taylor (arm) expects to be sidelined for six weeks, FOX Sports reports.
Taylor suffered a broken arm last Sunday, but has remained on the Steelers' roster in hopes of being available some time later this season. As a result, the veteran anticipates being able to return in six weeks, although it remains to be seen how reliable that self-prognosis actually is. Until Taylor is ready to play, William Gay will serve as the Steelers' starting cornerback opposite Cortez Allen.
