Coach Rex Ryan acknowledged Thursday that Carpenter is still likely to be his field goal person this week against the Titans, even though the team signed Billy Cundiff this week, BuffaloBills.com reports. "We had Cundiff take the kickoffs (Thursday)," said Ryan. "And then we had Dan basically do the field goals. But we'll see as it goes on. But that's probably how we're going to end up going in the game like that."
Not exactly a ringing endorsement for Carpenter, who's been fantastic with the Bills in the two seasons prior but got on Ryan's bad side in the preseason and has missed two field goals and an extra point already. We'd be shocked if he didn't have urge job this week while Cundiff handles kickoffs, though Carpenter may be one more bad kick away from looking for work.

Carpenter has some competition for the Bills' kicking job after the team signed Billy Cundiff on Wednesday, the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle reports.
Carpenter, who missed a 30-yard field goal this past Sunday against the Giants, is 5 for 7 overall this season, plus he has also missed one of his 12 extra point attempts thus far. At this stage, it's unclear who will be the Bills' kicker in Week 5, with coach Rex Ryan noting Wednesday with regard to the situation, "we'll see who will handle everything Sunday based on how the week goes."

Carpenter (knee) is active for Sunday's game against the Giants.
Carpenter was limited in practice all week, but never truly appeared to be in danger of missing the Week 4 contest. Against the Giants this season, opposing kickers are 5-for-5 in field goals and 7-for-7 in extra point attempts.

Carpenter (knee) is listed as probable for Sunday's game against the Giants.
Carpenter was listed as being limited at practice this week, but there's no real doubt that he will be available for Sunday's contest. Through the first three weeks of the season, Carpenter has recorded 22 points, while having made 4 of 5 field goal attempts in the process.

Though Carpenter is being listed as limited at practice this week with a left knee issue, coach Rex Ryan said that the kicker will play Sunday against the Giants, ESPNs Mike Rodak reports.
Look for Carpenter to be officially listed as probable for Sunday's contest in the absence of any setbacks in practice Friday.
Wed Sep 30 201516:31Carpenter limited during Wednesday's practice due to knee issue
Carpenter was limited during Wednesday's practice due to a knee issue.
We imagine he'll be fine for Sunday's game against the Giants, but we'll keep an eye on his practice status Thursday and Friday. Carpenter put up 11 fantasy points in the Week 3 victory over the Dolphins, much better than his two-point output the previous week.

Carpenter scored just two points in Buffalo's loss to New England on Sunday, making two of three extra-point attempts. He did not have a field-goal attempt.
The Bills got way behind in this one and had to start going for touchdowns and two-point tries, hence the awful fantasy output for Carpenter even though the team scored 32 points. The missed XPA could have proven costly, as the Bills were down eight at the end of the game instead of seven, even though they would have lost anyway with an interception on the final drive,

Carpenter made both of his field goal attempts - one from 41 yards and the other from 45 - and all three of his extra point attempts in Sunday's win over the Colts.
A good kicking performance and an season-opening win should put coach Rex Ryan in a good mood, as the new coach had been on Carepenter's case leading up to the season. Hopefully this was just Ryan blowing some usual smoke, as Carpenter knows the tricky Buffalo landscape well and he's proven quite reliable in his first two full seasons with the Bills.

Carpenter has coach Rex Ryan's "full confidence" heading into Sunday's season opener against the Colts, ESPN.com reports.
Carpenter's shaky performance during the preseason, which included three missed field goals and one missed extra point attempt, led the Bills to host kickers Billy Cundiff and Alex Henery on Monday, but Buffalo will stick with Carpenter heading into the regular season. Although coach Ryan expressed his confidence in Carpenter, fantasy owners would understanding be concerned with Carpenter's recent kicking form.
Mon Sep 7 201518:00With Carpenter having endured less-than-stellar preseason
With Carpenter having endured a less-than-stellar preseason, the Bills have worked out kickers Billy Cundiff and Alex Henery, ESPN's Mike Rodak reports.
While Carpenter isn't necessarily on the way out, the Bills are clearly considering their options here, which results in at least a short-term hit to Carpenter's draft/action value in advance of Week 1.

Carpenter has survived the Bills' cutdown to 53 players.
Rex Ryan has been all over the veteran the last couple of weeks, but the bottom line is that Carpenter is a dependable veteran that knows how to kick in chilly, windy Buffalo. As long as he gets a rhythm going early in the season - and Carpenter certainly didn't in the preseason, missing three field goals and an extra point - his job security should be fine. That all said, Carpenter seems to be a lot less secure than he was under the previous coaching regime.

Bills head coach Rex Ryan said he will look into finding a replacement for Carpenter, who missed a field goal in Thursday's preseason game against the Lions, Joe Buscaglia of WKBW reports.
Carpenter's terrible preseason continued, and while the Bills will take a look at the free-agent market, they may ultimately decide that there isn't a better option available. Carpenter was excellent in his first two seasons with the team.

Carpenter, who suffered a hamstring early in training camp, has struggled since his return and hasn't looked like his normal reliable self, The Buffalo News reports. Said coach Rex Ryan, ""I am concerned. That is concerning because he missed a lot of camp. We have to see him kick better. Quite honestly, he needs to. We're the only team in the league that keeps a kickoff specialist. With that being said, you do that to make sure you're giving your kicker a chance to focus on one thing and that's field goals."
Carpenter has been fantastic in his two seasons with the Bills in what is one of the league's toughest stadiums to kick. Normally, he'd have no concerns about his job whatever, but we'll at least mention this is a new coaching staff. It'd be nice for Carpenter to kick well in this weekend's preseason finale along with the first couple of regular season games just to lock things up.
Sun Aug 16 201510:24Carpenter (hamstring) added to Bills' active roster on Sunday
Carpenter (hamstring) was added to the Bills' active roster on Sunday, Joe Buscaglia of WKBW reports.
Carpenter also took part in his first practice, per Tyler Dunne of The Buffalo News. Carpenter's tweaked hamstring was always considered minor and it was very telling that Buffalo didn't bring in any real competition or insurance kickers for him. The 29-year-old should be considered good to go moving forward.
Fri Jul 31 201512:36Carpenter
Carpenter, who was placed on the active/non-football injury list Thursday, is recovering from a tweaked hamstring, WKBW's Joe Buscaglia reports.
Bills head coach Rex Ryan suggested the injury is only minor, so Carpenter should be ready within the first few weeks of training camp. The Bills haven't brought in any serious competition, as Carpenter was excellent in 2014.

Carpenter (undisclosed) was placed on the active/non-football injury list Thursday by the Bills, The Buffalo News reports.
Given that the Bills don't have any serious contenders to Carpenter in training camp - which starts for the team Friday - we're not too worried about the veteran's status for the start of the season.

Carpenter finished the 2014 season with 133 points, good for sixth in NFL scoring. He made 34 of 38 field goals - including 6 of 8 from 50-plus - as well as 31 of 32 extra points.
Carpenter has now gone over the 130 mark two seasons in a row. Even though the team has a new coach in Rex Ryan, there's almost no chance Carpenter's going anywhere next season, as the team gave him a nice contract last offseason and his work remains quite strong. The weather in Buffalo will always be a disadvantage for Carpenter, but it's more than offset by his own skills plus the team's inability to find a quarterback that knows what to do in the red zone.

Carpenter (groin) made his only field-goal attempt and all three extra-point tries in Sunday's 26-24 loss to the Raiders.
Carpenter wasn't afforded many scoring opportunities, and next week's matchup with the Patriots may be a similar situation.

Carpenter (groin) is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Raiders.
Carpenter, who is coming off a 13-point effort in Week 15's win over the Packers, is out there if you need him Sunday. With 122 points in 14 games to date, he's tied for fourth in the among kickers in the scoring department.

Carpenter (groin) is listed as probable for Sunday's game in Oakland.
Carpenter probably won't be a great option in Week 17 on the road at the Patriots, so this may be your last chance to use him this season. With the Bills struggling in the red zone all season, Carpenter has cashed in with 122 points, good for a tie for fourth in league scoring.
