Stewart (tibia) picked up 50 yards on 10 carries, but was not targeted in the passing game in Sunday's win over Tampa Bay.
Stewart recorded a solid 5.0 yards-per-carry average, but wasn't asked to do too much as Carolina spread the rushing workload between him, Cameron Artis-Payne and Cam Newton. He also fumbled a ball straight into the hands of teammate Ed Dickson, who proceeded to take it 57 yards for a touchdown. While Stewart's afternoon wasn't especially noteworthy besides the fumble play, it's good to see him look unhindered by an injury he had been nursing for a while.
Sun Oct 4 201511:44Jonathan Stewart: (Tibia) Active Sunday
Stewart (tibia) is active for Sunday's game in Tampa Bay.
Stewart only took the practice field Friday, albeit in a full capacity, which forecast his installation as the Panthers' starting running back. Hindering his value, though, are goal-line vultures Cam Newton and Mike Tolbert (groin).
Fri Oct 2 201513:36Jonathan Stewart: (Leg) Listed As Probable
Stewart (leg) is listed as probable for Sunday's game in Tampa Bay.
After missing practice Wednesday and Thursday, Stewart returned as a full participant for Friday's session. He should be fine to lead the Carolina backfield, but his upside is limited by his lack of contribution in the passing game, not to mention the ample competition for goal-line carries that comes from QB Cam Newton and FB Mike Tolbert (probable-groin).

When asked about Stewart's (tibia) status for Sunday's game against the Bucs, coach Ron Rivera indicated Thursday, "maybe. We'll see."
Rivera offered the same assessment for fullback Mike Tolbert, while suggesting on that front that the Panthers will "see how everybody is come Saturday morning and we'll go from there." Perhaps we'll hear something more definitive regarding Stewart's status Friday, but he'd presumably need to participate in practice in some capacity in order to be in the team's backfield mix this weekend. Meanwhile, Fozzy Whittaker and Cameron Artis-Payne represent the team's top two healthy options at running back behind Stewart.
Thu Oct 1 201515:17Jonathan Stewart: (Tibia) No practice Thursday
Stewart (tibia) didn't participate in Thursday's practice, David Newton of ESPN.com reports.
In the early stages of drills, Newton stated that Stewart isn't expected to miss Sunday's game at Tampa Bay, but an appearance, however limited, at practice this week would provide a sense that he'll play through a tibia injury. Stewart has been consistently mediocre in 2015, notching between 52 and 62 yards rushing without a score in all three games. An absence would open the door for Fozzy Whittaker and Cameron Artis-Payne to earn their first significant run of the season.
Wed Sep 30 201515:49Jonathan Stewart: (Tibia) Doesn't practice Wednesday
Stewart didn't practice Wednesday due to an ailing tibia.
Stewart took a hard hit to his calf Sunday against the Saints, but the true nature of the injury has been revealed. While its severity is unknown, his ability to practice this week will forecast whether he's trending toward an appearance in Week 4 at Tampa Bay.

Panthers head coach Ron Rivera is not concerned about Stewart's (calf) availability for Sunday's game against the Buccaneers, David Newton of ESPN.com reports.
Stewart missed a brief portion of Sunday's win over the Saints with a calf injury, and there's been nothing to suggest that it's anything more than a bruise. The larger concern is Stewart's usage and efficiency, as he's handled medium-sized workloads through the first three weeks, even though the Panthers have mostly held leads. Given that he has just five catches, there could be some barren days ahead if the team has to play from behind. Luckily for his owners, a Week 4 matchup with the Buccaneers appears favorable.

Stewart rushed for 52 yards on 14 carries in Sunday's win over New Orleans. He exited the contest briefly with an apparent lower leg injury, Joe Person of The Charlotte Observer reports.
Stewart returned to action later in the game as the Panthers tried to run out the clock. Coming into the season, there was a sense that Stewart would thrive as the team's bell cow with DeAngelo Williams off to Pittsburgh. That hasn't been the case. Stewart has averaged just 57 rushing yards per game and 3.5 yards per rush through three weeks. Given that he's averaged fewer than four yards per carry in two of the past three seasons, Stewart is no guarantee to improve greatly as the season progresses.
Sun Sep 27 201511:45Jonathan Stewart: (Knee) Active Sunday
Stewart (knee) is listed as active Sunday against the Saints, David Newton of ESPN.com reports.
Stewart has tended to a knee injury after the first two contests of the season, yet the ailment hasn't hindered him from dominating the carries with quarterback Cam Newton. In Week 3, Stewart could prosper against a Saints defense that has surrendered 4.4 YPC, eight receptions on 12 targets, and two total touchdowns to opposing running backs this season.
Fri Sep 25 201514:40Jonathan Stewart: (Knee) Expected To Play
Stewart (knee) is expected to play in Sunday's game against the Saints, ESPN.com reports.
Stewart is officially listed as questionable, after logging limited practices Thursday and Friday. Barring a setback, he'll lead the Carolina backfield, with Cameron Artis-Payne and possibly Fozzy Whittaker (questionable-shoulder) playing supporting roles.
Fri Sep 25 201513:25Jonathan Stewart: (Knee) Officially Questionable
Stewart (knee) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Saints.
Stewart missed Wednesday's practice but then returned as a limited participant both Thursday and Friday. He should be able to play, but if not, the Carolina backfield will likely be led by rookie Cameron Artis-Payne. Fellow running back Fozzy Whittaker (shoulder) is also listed as questionable.
Thu Sep 24 201514:55Jonathan Stewart: (Knee) Limited Thursday
Stewart (knee) practiced in a limited capacity Thursday, Jonathan Jones of the Charlotte Observer reports.
After starting last week as a non-participant at practice, Stewart returned in full the very next day. While he was unable to replicate that regimen this week, Stewart isn't in much danger of missing Sunday's game against the Saints, who have allowed 4.4 YPC and two total touchdowns to opposing running backs through two contests.
Wed Sep 23 201516:02Jonathan Stewart: (Knee) No Practice Wednesday
Stewart missed Wednesday's practice due to a knee issue, David Newton of ESPN.com reports.
Last Wednesday's injury report included the same designation, but head coach Ron Rivera stated that the absence was merely a veteran day off. If Stewart returns to practice in a full capacity Thursday, as he did a week ago, his status for Week 3 shouldn't be in question. On the season, he leads the Panthers with 118 rushing yards, which he's picked up at a clip of 3.4 YPC.
Wed Sep 23 201512:30Jonathan Stewart: (Undisclosed) Doesn't Practice Wednesday
Stewart (undisclosed) didn't practice Wednesday, Steve Reed of the Associated Press reports.
Stewart spent last week's first practice on the sideline due to a knee injury, but the cause of Wednesday's absence wasn't immediately known. If it was merely a veteran day off, he should be back in action sooner rather than later, but head coach Ron Rivera will reveal Stewart's situation upon the conclusion of drills.

Stewart rushed for 62 yards on 17 carries and lost three yards on his lone reception of the game in Sunday's win against the Texans.
The 28-year-old has struggled a bit to begin the season, averaging 3.4 yards per carry as opponents crowd the box due to the Panthers' lack of receiving threats on the outside. Quarterback Cam Newton also converted a short touchdown plunge Sunday and has been heavily involved in the running game, but there should be plenty of touches to go around as Carolina leans on its ground attack. Next on the schedule for J-Stew and company is a favorable home matchup against the Saints.
Sun Sep 20 201511:34Stewart (knee) active Sunday against Texans
Stewart (knee) is active Sunday against the Texans.
Stewart was rested for Wednesday's practice, but he was a full participant Thursday and Friday and was never in danger of missing Sunday's game. He remains the unquestioned starter in Carolina, though a matchup against a tough Texans defense is hardly ideal for fantasy purposes.

Stewart (knee) is listed as probable for Sunday's game against the Texans.
Panthers head coach Ron Rivera said Stewart's absence from Wednesday's practice was merely for rest, and the veteran running back then returned to log full sessions Thursday and Friday, answering any questions about his Sunday availability. Stewart shouldn't lack for touches as the clear leader of Carolina's backfield, but he may have a tough time finding holes against a defense led by DE J.J. Watt, DT Vince Wilfork and OLB Jadeveon Clowney. Additionally, Stewart hasn't caught more than four passes in a game since 2011, and he has competition for goal-line carries in the form of QB Cam Newton and FB Mike Tolbert.
Thu Sep 17 201514:43Jonathan Stewart: (Knee) Full Practice Thursday
Stewart (knee) practiced in full Thursday, Jonathan Jones of the Charlotte Observer reports.
After head coach Ron Rivera deemed Wednesday's absence a veteran day off, Stewart's activity level Thursday isn't much of a surprise in spite of the mention of a sore knee. With a full practice behind him, expect Stewart to head the Panthers' backfield yet again Sunday versus the Texans.
Thu Sep 17 201511:23Stewart (knee) returned to practice field Thursday
Stewart (knee) returned to the practice field Thursday, Joe Person of The Charlotte Observer reports.
It won't be clear if Stewart got in either a limited or a full practice until after the session concludes, but his participation is a positive sign after he was held out of Wednesday's practice due to the sore knee.
Wed Sep 16 201514:54Jonathan Stewart: (Knee) Misses Practice Wednesday
Stewart missed Wednesday's practice due to a knee injury.
Stewart is contending with a sore knee following the regular season opener, but head coach Ron Rivera relayed that the running back's absence was a vet day in order to rest, according to Steve Reed of the Associated Press. As the week rolls on, Stewart's reps could be capped in order to keep him fresh for Sunday's game versus the Texans. Nevertheless, expect his availability to be cleared up upon the release of Friday's injury report.
