Fri Aug 22 201412:56Redman has retired from NFL due to spinal cord injury
Redman has retired from the NFL due to a spinal cord injury, according to the National Football Post.
The report relays that after undergoing two MRIs and a CAT scan, Redman learned that his spinal cord issue would preclude him from playing in the NFL. Redman, who was released by the Steelers last October, noted that "various teams have called, but as you can see I was unable to go."
Mon Oct 21 201316:21Steelers move on from reserve RB Isaac Redman
Steelers released RB Isaac Redman.
It's a surprise only in that Redman is a familiar name. Redman has been a healthy scratch since Week 4, and that wasn't going to change with rookie Le'Veon Bell putting a stranglehold on starting duties. Going back to the start of last season, Redman has averaged just 3.52 yards over his past 120 carries. The Steelers will move forward with Felix Jones and Jon Dwyer behind Bell.

Sun Oct 13 201311:57Isaac Redman a healthy scratch for PIT
Steelers declared RB Isaac Redman inactive for Sunday's Week 6 game against the Jets.
With Le'Veon Bell (foot) 100 percent, Redman is a healthy scratch as the No. 4 running back. There are no surprises on the rest of the Steelers inactive list: QB Landry Jones, WR Markus Wheaton (finger surgery), OT Mike Adams, C/G Cody Wallace, NT Loni Fangupo and LB Chris Carter.

Sun Sep 29 201311:32Isaac Redman ruled inactive for Week 4
Isaac Redman is inactive for Sunday's Week 4 game against the Vikings.
Redman wasn't listed on the injury report this week, but played through a concussion in Week 2. Le'Veon Bell is active and will start in his NFL debut. The rest of the Steelers inactives are QB Landry Jones, WR Derek Moye, C Cody Wallace, CB Isaiah Green, NT Loni Fangupo and CB Antwon Blake.

Thu Sep 26 201310:22Isaac Redman played through concussion
Isaac Redman said he sustained a concussion in the Week 2 loss to the Bengals, but reentered the game.
The NFL is going to want to have a word with the Steelers when they catch wind of this. Redman says he sustained the concussion on the opening kickoff of the game. He went back to the locker room and the team announced he was "being evaluated for a concussion." Then he came back onto the field for the second quarter and touched the ball four times. How did he fool the medical staff? "I said I was all right," Redman answered.

Tue Sep 24 201312:22Isaac Redman likely the odd man out
Isaac Redman is not expected to dress if Le'Veon Bell (foot) is active in Week 4.
Bell is fully expected to make his NFL debut against the Vikings. Redman has fallen behind Felix Jones and Jonathan Dwyer on the depth chart.

Mon Sep 23 201301:53Isaac Redman non-factor in Week 3 loss
Isaac Redman did not receive a carry in Week 3 against the Bears.
Redman didn't make his first appearance until late in the third quarter. He's behind Felix Jones and Jonathan Dwyer for touches and remains well off the fantasy radar.

Tue Sep 17 201300:41Isaac Redman struggles again in Week 2 loss
Isaac Redman rushed three times for just four yards and caught two passes for seven yards in Monday night's Week 2 loss to Cincinnati.
Redman was scheduled to start, but he ended up getting hurt on the opening kickoff. He was taken to the locker room and checked out for a possible concussion. Redman passed the tests and returned to the game in the second quarter. Fantasy owners that took the plunge and started him will be crying in their Wheaties in the morning. Avoid playing Redman or any other Steelers back next week against Chicago.

Tue Sep 10 201315:20Steelers will start Isaac Redman again Week 2
Coach Mike Tomlin said Isaac Redman will start Monday night's game against the Bengals.
Redman fumbled twice and picked up eight yards on nine carries before getting benched in Week 1. "Obviously he played a bad game," Tomlin said Tuesday. "He'll be given an opportunity to redeem himself." With LaRod Stephens-Howling (knee) out for the year and Le'Veon Bell (foot) not close, the Steelers don't have a choice. Redman will be in a committee with Jonathan Dwyer and Felix Jones may get a few change-of-pace reps. It's a fantasy situation to avoid, especially considering a matchup with Cincy's fearsome front four. Matt Forte rushed 19 times for just 50 yards (2.6 YPC) against the Bengals in Week 1.

Tue Sep 3 201312:18Steelers confirm Isaac Redman to start Sunday
Coach Mike Tomlin confirmed Isaac Redman will start Sunday's game against the Titans.
"We know what Isaac is capable of," Tomlin said Tuesday. The coach went on to say that he'll "obviously" spell Redman with LaRod Stephens-Howling and Felix Jones. Considering Redman averaged just 3.72 YPC last year and couldn't separate from Jonathan Dwyer (who was cut Saturday), fantasy owners need to keep expectations in check. No one should be desperate enough at the FLEX spot already that they need to use a talent deficient plug-and-play like Redman.

Mon Sep 2 201313:55Isaac Redman confirms he's Bell's fill-in
Isaac Redman (stinger) was a full participant in Steelers practice Monday, and confirmed he'll run as the starter during Le'Veon Bell's (foot) absence.

Tue Aug 27 201312:20Isaac Redman remains ahead of Dwyer in PIT
Isaac Redman will be the Steelers' starter while Le'Veon Bell (foot) is sidelined.
Bell isn't expected back until Week 3 or 4 at the earliest. That leaves the Steelers with the unholy quarter of Redman, Jonathan Dwyer, LaRod Stephens-Howling and Felix Jones. Although Redman has been nursing a stinger, he's a coaching staff favorite and the most reliable option. Dwyer and whoever wins the change-of-pace job will also see work as part of a committee. It's a low-upside situation for fantasy owners.

Sun Aug 25 201300:14Isaac Redman sits out with stinger
Steelers RB Isaac Redman missed Saturday's third preseason game with a "stinger."
Redman's absence for the Steelers' regular season dress rehearsal should lock in Jonathan Dwyer as the Week 1 starter. It's doubtful Redman's injury is serious, so we'd still expect him to be a part of the committee for the opener. Dwyer will chair said committee for the time being, but as it was last season, it figures to be a fluid situation. The upside is low with both players.

Sat Aug 10 201322:21Redman draws start in first preseason game
Isaac Redman rushed two times for seven yards in Saturday's night preseason game against the Giants.
Redman started, but was removed on third downs and in passing situations despite being a superior blocker to La'Rod Stephens-Howling. He remains the favorite for backup duties behind Le'Veon Bell, but has limited fantasy value as a handcuff. Bell (knee) is considered day to day and should return to practice next week.

Wed May 1 201310:33Isaac Redman ahead of Jonathan Dwyer?
The Post-Gazette believes Isaac Redman is ahead of Jonathan Dwyer right now.
Dwyer was reportedly placed on the trade block right after the Steelers took Michigan State workhorse Le'Veon Bell in the second round. Redman, a long-time favorite of coach Mike Tomlin, appears likely to stick as the early-down backup. Known at one time by the nickname "Red Zone," Redman has scored just five rushing touchdowns over his three NFL seasons.

Thu Apr 18 201318:02RB Redman signs tender
Steelers re-signed restricted free agent Isaac Redman to a one-year, $1.323 million contract.
Redman, 28, rushed 110 times for just 410 yards last season. After showing flashes in a change-of-pace, third-down role, "Red" was unable to sustain that success when given an opportunity to be the feature back. The Steelers have made it no secret they intend on adding competition at running back through the draft.

Mon Mar 18 201313:24Steelers plan to upgrade at running back
Coach Mike Tomlin acknowledged that the Steelers still must upgrade at running back before the season.
Jonathan Dwyer and Isaac Redman are currently Pittsburgh's top two backs, but they'll face camp battles -- likely from a high-drafted rookie -- to maintain their spots atop the depth chart. "Obviously, we need to add to the pool of talent we have at that position," Tomlin said. The Steelers would appear to be the favorites to land Alabama's Eddie Lacy, quite possibly at No. 17 overall.

Sun Dec 23 201217:24Redman limited to four yards in loss
Isaac Redman was limited to three carries for four yards in Sunday's loss to the Bengals.
Redman played in his usual supporting role behind Jonathan Dwyer, but the Steelers couldn't get anything going against the Bengals' defense, and the majority of his snaps were in blitz-pickup on third downs. Rasard Mendenhall returned this week after a team imposed one-game suspension and led the Steelers in rushing. Redman is averaging just 3.8 yards-per-carry in 13 games (five starts) this season.

Sun Dec 16 201220:56Isaac Redman totals 44 yards in loss
Isaac Redman rushed three times for 30 yards in Pittsburgh's Week 15 loss to the Cowboys, adding one catch for 14 yards.
It was a nice day for Redman in a change-of-pace role, but he appeared to tweak his foot/ankle on a 22-yard run up the sideline near the end of the third quarter. He checked in for a four-yard gain three plays later, but wasn't seen the rest of the afternoon even though the game was tight and Jonathan Dwyer was struggling. Redman has struggled through ankle issues for much of the season. His status will likely be updated Monday.
