It's possible "The Rhino" looks to garner a deal stateside, but it's also possible that he simply tries to wait until next season to return to the NBA.

Wed Aug 15 201208:52Craig Smith reveals why he signed in Israel
Craig Smith said that he signed in Israel because he was "tired of being a roster filler."
It's hard to blame him. "I didn't want to do that again," he said. "I can play and I want to play now. I'm not satisfied collecting a check. I want to play." It's commendable that Smith wants to show what he can do, and there is no doubt that he'll have a larger role overseas, which could lead to a better opportunity stateside in the NBA in the future. "There's a fire burning in me. I got to play."

Sat Aug 11 201213:50Craig Smith signs w/ Hapoel Jersusalem
Craig Smith has agreed to sign with the Israeli team Hapoel Jerusalem.
Smith was upset with his role on the Blazers last season and probably wasn't attracting more than minimum offers in the NBA. No word yet on the length of the agreement, or presence of an 'out clause', but it's probable the 28-year-old will make another attempt to sign in the NBA before he retires.

Tue Jul 31 201215:22Craig Smith in preliminary talks w/ Pacers
Free agent Craig Smith has had preliminary talks with the Pacers.
Smith, aka 'the Rhino', is as close to an NHL-style enforcer as you'll find in the NBA. He averaged 3.3 points and 2.3 rebounds in under 10 minutes per game with the Blazers last season, a fair indication of his value.

"Yeah, it's frustrating. It's real frustrating just to see it unfold how it did," Smiths aid. "I don't think I got a fair shot." The Rhino has played in the last two games, but he's played in just four games during April and hasn't been on the fantasy radar all season.

Fri Feb 17 201202:31Smith plays just 14 minutes on Thursday
Craig Smith played just 14 minutes on Thursday, scoring four points on 1-of-2 shooting with three rebounds and a steal.
Nate McMillan has alluded to using Smith before each game that LaMarcus Aldridge (ankle) has missed, but he never ends up pulling the trigger. With Aldridge possibly back on Saturday, Smith's window to hit the fantasy radar is almost shut, not that anybody's expectations were all that high.

Thu Feb 16 201204:31The Rhino not so busy on Wednesday
Craig Smith scored five points on 2-of-2 shooting with six rebounds and one assist in 12 minutes off the bench on Wednesday.
As long as LaMarcus Aldridge is out, Smith is somebody to look at for a spot-start in deeper formats. When given the minutes, he usually sports a good scoring and rebounding combo, but Nate McMillan said he was going to turn to his bench tonight and never followed through. It's a total crapshoot.

The Rhino doesn't have any fantasy value, but is a nice guy to have on your bench in reality.

Sat Jan 14 201200:50Craig Smith could benefit from Camby injury
Craig Smith played nine minutes on Friday with Marcus Camby (ankle) leaving early, scoring two points on 1-of-2 shooting with three rebounds and a steal.
Smith has performed well in spot-duty in the past, but is admittedly a question mark after going unsigned for most of the summer. He is a rebounding force underneath the hoop and scores in bunches against undersized teams. Outside of that he doesn't do much.

Thu Dec 15 201120:21Blazers add the Rhino, Craig Smith
Craig Smith said Thursday that he will be signing with the Blazers.
We're going to kid right now, but how can the most cursed franchise in sports add the most dangerous practice player in the land? Jokes aside, it's a good signing for them since they lack depth in their frontcourt. 'The Rhino' will have no value unless an injury strikes. Knock knock.

Tue Feb 22 201119:35Smith (back) will not play on Tuesday
Craig Smith (back) did not play on Tuesday against the Thunder.
The herniated disk in his back has kept him on the shelf for a while now, so look for the Clippers to play it extremely safe with it him going forward. He has no real value in fantasy leagues, but could be productive if ever forced into time due to injuries.

Mon Feb 21 201118:34Craig Smith (back) could return Tuesday
Craig Smith (herniated disk) will travel with the Clippers and could return Tuesday vs. the Thunder.
Smith hasn't played in two months and isn't likely to have fantasy value, especially with a healthy Chris Kaman in the mix. The Clippers will love to have Rhino even in short bursts, however, as his toughness and energy are hard to replace.

Wed Jan 26 201101:28Smith (back) still held from action Tuesday
Craig Smith (back), who was supposed to be available for Sunday's game against the Lakers, has not yet made it back to action and did not play in Tuesday's game against the Mavs.
He needs a few lucky breaks to have any real fantasy value, but he could have some value if Blake Griffin misses any time with his elbow injury. Of course, he needs to get healthy or all bets are off.
