Mavericks waive F Renaldo Balkman.
He didn't play more than 17 minutes in any preseason game with the Mavs and didn't have much of a shot to make the team. Balkman will likely continue his career overseas.

Wed Sep 25 201320:50Renaldo Balkman heading to Mavs camp
Former Knicks first-round pick Renaldo Balkman has agreed to attend Mavericks training camp.
It's a non-guaranteed deal, meaning he isn't a lock to make the final roster, but he did average 25 points and 13.4 rebounds for a professional team in the Philippines last year, before being suspended for shoving an official and others after disagreeing with a call. Balkman was a shocking pick at No. 20 for the Knicks in 2006, when Isiah Thomas thought he was outsmarting the rest of the league. Balkman averaged 4.0 points and 3.5 rebounds in 221 NBA games.

Renaldo Balkman helped Puerto Rico beat Brazil on Friday, scoring a game-high 24 points with eight rebounds and four blocks in 37 minutes of action.
Balkman last played in the NBA during the 2011-12 season with the Knicks. He joined the Philippine Basketball Association in 2012, promptly earning a lifetime ban for choking a teammate, and he's since settled into a featured role for Brujos de Guayama in his native Puerto Rico.

Sun Feb 19 201210:03Nets interested in Renaldo Balkman?
The Nets may have interest in Renaldo Balkman, who was recently waived by the Knicks.
New Jersey has started five different players at SF this season without any lasting success, and they've been weakened by injuries to DeShawn Stevenson and Damion James. Balkman might give them some relief, but even as a starter he's not a likely fantasy asset.

Renaldo Balkman (knee) is not practicing on Wednesday.
This should not impact your fantasy draft plans. There has been no previous information on the injury, so we assume it's something new for Balkman.

Tue Feb 22 201101:20Balkman traded back to Knicks
Knicks acquired Renaldo Balkman via trade from the Nuggets.
Balkman was drafted with the 20th overall pick by the Knicks back in 2006, but predictably busted badly. Signed through 2012-13, he is a poor bet to crack Mike D'Antoni's rotation at any point.
Mon Dec 6 201009:59Balkman not trying for Nuggets?
Nuggets forward Renaldo Balkman "hasn't been giving it his all at practice," according to beat writer Benjamin Hochman.
Balkman apparently doesn't know all of Denver's plays, which speaks volumes, and his focus is described as "wishy-washy." He isn't part of the rotation and it doesn't sound like he will be any time soon.

Sun Oct 17 201006:22Balkman opens some eyes vs. Lakers
Renaldo Balkman made some noise on Saturday against the Lakers with 11 points on 5-of-10 shooting, 10 rebounds, four assists, and two steals in 34 minutes off the bench.
Shelden Williams missed the game without any report of injury, and so did Carmelo Anthony and most of the Nuggets' frontcourt. In other words, you don't have to listen to George Karl's postgame comments about Balkman's lack of consistency to know not to get excited for fantasy purposes.

Fri Oct 8 201010:53Renaldo Balkman healthy, ready to play
Renaldo Balkman, who missed much of last season due to a back injury, as well as a ton of DNP's due to a coaching decision, says he's healthy and ready to play this season.
"Last year was hard for me," Balkman said. "I was hurt and didn't play in a lot of the games; I sat out probably half of the season due to my back. But I came in this year with an attitude like, injury-free with the mind-set that I'm going to play my heart out." He's not likely to have fantasy value, but with Chris Andersen and Kenyon Martin not ready for the start of the season, you never know.
