Sun Apr 18 201019:20Mets call up Stoner to help gassed bullpen
Mets recalled RHP Tobi Stoner from Triple-A Buffalo.
New York used nine pitchers in Saturday's 20-inning victory over St. Louis, so it was hardly surprising that they looked to the minors to help their fatigued bullpen. Stoner's stay should be short, however. Expect him to be sent down in the next few days after the bullpen solidifies itself.
Sun Apr 18 201010:42Stoner to be recalled for Sunday's game?
ESPNNewYork's Adam Rubin reports that Tobi Stoner is going to be recalled to give the Mets a fresh arm for Sunday's game.
Rubin did not say what the corresponding move would be, but he speculated that Raul Valdes could be headed for Triple-A Buffalo. The Mets used nine pitchers on Saturday, so a spare arm would definitely be useful for manager Jerry Manuel.
