Finnegan has announced his retirement from the NFL, NFL.com reports.

The 31-year-old cornerback, who entered the league in 2006 as a seventh-round draft pick of the Titans, recorded 44 tackles in 12 games with Miami last season before being released by the team this offseason. He finishes his NFL career with a total of 645 tackles and 18 picks in 128 games.

Finnegan was released by the Dolphins on Monday, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.

Finnegan started all 12 games he played in 2014, but he'll likely have trouble finding another starting job, in the wake of a lackluster season. Having recently turned 31, Finnegan has minimal upside for both real-life and IDP purposes.
