Blue Jays acquired RHP Clint Everts from the Mets to complete an earlier trade for outfielder Jorge Padilla.
The first leg of the trade was made last week. Everts was drafted fifth overall in the 2002 MLB Amateur Draft, but has posted a 6.94 ERA and a 37/21 K/BB ratio in 35 innings of relief at Double-A Binghamton this season. He may never be a major league-ready reliever.

The Mets designated Everts for assignment earlier this week in order to clear room on the 40-man roster for reliever Raul Valdes. Everts will continue operating in a middle relief role for Double-A Binghmaton.
