Parnell (2-4) imploded again Wednesday against the Phillies, failing to record an out while adding a hit, a walk, a wild pitch and two runs to his line.
Parnell's now averaging nearly two baserunners per inning, and he has 17 walks against just 13 strikeouts. It's enough to make you wonder why manager Terry Collins thinks he should be rolled out in any game the Mets are leading.

Parnell (arm), making his first appearance since being activated off the disabled list, walked the first two hitters he faced and then threw a bunt away, helping paving the way to the Phillies' eight-run, sixth inning Tuesday.
Parnell was brought in to face the bottom of the Phils' order but failed to get the job done. He likely won't pitch in many close game situations due his continued struggles coupled with the roster expansion on September 1 giving the Mets more bullpen options.

The Mets activated Parnell (arm) from the disabled list Tuesday, Adam Rubin of ESPN New York reports.
Parnell is set to rejoin the Mets after spending the last couple weeks on the disabled list. He figures to work in the seventh inning if healthy, but his role will ultimately depend on how effective he is over his next couple appearances.

Parnell is being placed on the disabled list and replaced on the active roster by Logan Verrett, Mike Puma of the NY Post reports.
Parnell, after a strong start to the season, has struggled mightily lately. His fastball has failed to regain his pre-Tommy John surgery velocity and hitters are sitting on his off-speed pitches. Parnell was given the choice of going on the disabled list, being sent down to Triple- A Las Vegas or being designated for assignment and chose the DL.

New York Mets pitcher Bobby Parnell will be placed on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday due to arm fatigue, according to the New York Post. Parnell has yet regain the velocity on his fastball following Tommy John surgery in 2014 and was given a choice between a demotion to Triple-A Las Vegas, being designated for assignment or returning to the DL.

Parnell struggled Sunday for the second time in the Mets' sweep by the Pirates, hurt by his own ineffective pitching and poor defense behind him.
Parnell had Pedro Florimon 0-2 to lead off the seventh and walked him. He induced Michael Morse to hit a comeback that ended up in center field when Ruben Tejada failed to get to second base quick enough and the throw went into center field. Parnell missed his spot on fastball to Gregory Polanco that was lined into center field to make it 2-1 Pittsburgh. Parnell got Starling Marte to fly out but Travis d'Arnaud's passed ball made it 3-1. He walked Neil Walker, the Aramis Ramirez singled in another run and Eric O'Flaherty gave up a single to Pedro Alvarez to make it 5-1. Overall, Parnell gave up four runs - two earned - on two hits and two walked and was booed off the mound again by the Citi Field faithful.

Parnell coughed up a pair of runs on three hits without retiring a batter as the Mets dropped a 3-2 decision to Pittsburgh in 10 innings Friday night.
After the Mets acquired Tyler Clippard at the trade deadline, Parnell (1-2, 4.82 ERA) moved to a less critical role in the bullpen. However, Clippard pitched the eighth and Jeurys Familia pitched the ninth inning in a tie game, leaving Parnell to come on in the tenth. Obviously, this outing is unlikely to earn him more high leverage innings so his fantasy value continues to decline.

Parnell tossed a scoreless inning in the Mets' 4-3 loss to the Rays on Sunday.
The acquisition of Tyler Clippard has moved Parnell from a set-up to sixth or seventh inning role. Since a July 30 meltdown, Parnell has thrown three scoreless innings over four appearances in his new role. He may get the occasional hold but his fantasy value is minimal right now.

Parnell (1-1) took his first loss of the year after giving up three runs on three hits and a pair of walks in the eighth inning Wednesday against the Nationals.
The Mets came into the eighth riding a 3-1 lead and looking for the series win, but Parnell was all over the place -- just 13 of his 27 pitches went for strikes, and he unleashed a wild pitch as well. While his numbers prior to this blowup -- a 0.73 ERA and 1.05 WHIP -- had been solid, he now owns just nine strikeouts with six walks in 13.1 innings since coming back from Tommy John surgery. He'll remain a decent source of holds, but fantasy owners should exercise caution, as there's a very reasonable chance his ratios could get worse from here on out.

Parnell tossed 1.2 innings of scoreless relief in the Mets' 3-1, 18-inning win over the Cardinals on Sunday.
Parnell's fastball is only in the low-90s rather than the high-90s he has before the Tommy John surgery. But he has been able to rely on his solid off-speed pitches and control to post a 0.79 ERA in his 12 appearances since coming back to the Mets. Parnell is fairly locked in as Jeurys Familia's set-up man.

Parnell picked up a five-out save Tuesday against Toronto, his first since 2013. He struck out two and allowed one hit.
Mets closer Jeurys Familia was unavailable Tuesday after pitching four games in five nights and could go on paternity leave soon. If he does, it looks like Parnell could be relied on to close. After failing to induce a swing and miss in his first two outings, Parnell got five whiffs Tuesday against the Blue Jays, the most life he's shown since coming back from Tommy John surgery. He has yet to allow a run in three innings.
