Thu Jan 9 201420:48Kelvim Escobar open to pitching in 2014
Chris Cotillo of MLBDailyDish.com reports that Kelvim Escobar is not retired and is open to pitching for someone in 2014.
Escobar made a short-lived comeback attempt with the Brewers in spring training last year, as he had to be shut down after one appearance due to a nerve impingement in his right hand. He's healthy now, though, and wants to prove his still has something left in the tank. However, Escobar hasn't appeared in the majors since 2009 and will turn 38 just after Opening Day, so the odds are against him.

Sun Mar 10 201313:08Brewers give Kelvim Escobar his release
Brewers released RHP Kelvim Escobar.
Escobar was attempting a comeback in Brewers' camp after being out of pro ball since 2009 and out of the majors since 2007. He was diagnosed with a nerve impingement in his right hand during his first spring appearance, though, and evidently the Brew Crew aren't willing to wait for him to get better. It remains to be seen if someone else will take a shot on him once he's healthy.

Tue Mar 5 201317:25Escobar diagnosed with nerve impingement
Kelvim Escobar was diagnosed Tuesday in Brewers camp with a nerve impingement in his right hand.
Escobar had to cut short his Cactus League debut on Sunday after experiencing a sudden rush of weakness in his pitching hand. "It could have been worse," the veteran right-hander told reporters on Tuesday evening. "[The doctor] checked my shoulder, my elbow, my neck, and everything was fine. He thinks it's a nerve that's not firing."

Wed Feb 20 201321:43Escobar to throw first pen session Thursday
Kelvim Escobar will throw his first bullpen session in Brewers' camp on Thursday.
Escobar has pitched in just one game since 2007 due to shoulder issues, so the Brewers are taking things slowly with him. "He hasn't pitched in a long time other than some games in winter ball (in the Dominican Republic)," manager Ron Roenicke said. "Even there, you've got a break and now you've got to get it going again. We're just being cautious with him."

Juan Dominguez of PRORumors.com reports that Kelvim Escobar is planning to make a comeback.
We heard the same thing over the winter, but evidently Escobar, 36, isn't ready to hang up his cleats yet. He has appeared in just one game over the last four seasons due to persistent shoulder problems, but if he can show he's healthy, someone should be willing to give him a minor league deal.

Kelvim Escobar is currently aiming for a comeback in the majors and hopes to pitch winter ball during the second half of December.
Escobar, now 35 years old, has appeared in just one major-league game over the last four seasons due to persistent shoulder problems. Even if he makes it through winter ball healthy, a spring training invite is probably a longshot.

Sat Feb 5 201113:16Report: Kelvim Escobar attempting comeback
FOX Sports' Jon Paul Morosi reports that Kelvim Escobar will attempt a comeback as a reliever and hopes to throw for teams sometime in March.
Escobar has pitched just one game in the big leagues over the last three seasons, as he's been plagued by shoulder problems and had surgery last May. In his last full season, though, he went 18-7 with a 3.40 ERA and 1.27 WHIP, so there will surely be a few teams at least interested in giving him a look-see as a reliever.

Fri May 21 201019:42Mets place Escobar on 60-day DL
Mets transferred RHP Kelvim Escobar from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.
He was cleared in order to make room for Elmer Dessens on the 40-man roster. It's a rather insignificant roster move. Escobar is slated to miss the rest of the season after undergoing season-ending shoulder surgery earlier this month.
Mon May 3 201021:02Escobar to undergo season-ending surgery
Kelvim Escobar will undergo season-ending surgery on his right shoulder on Wednesday.
Nothing particularly shocking here, given his injury history. The Mets hedged on the condition of his shoulder during spring training, but it turns out that he has a torn capsule in front of his right shoulder. It's still a wonder why they ever gave a guaranteed $1.25 million contract to a player with such an inherent injury risk.
