The 28-year-old produced a relatively strong showing, but his production waned against a beatable secondary after 19 catches, 289 yards and a touchdown in his previous two games. The Chiefs could lean a bit more on the passing attack because of the likely loss of Jamaal Charles to a knee injury, but Maclin will continue to be heavily targeted either way. Kansas City will travel to take on the Vikings in Week 6.

The Chiefs resorted to the passing attack after getting down early, and Maclin led the team in targets, receptions and yards for the second straight game. After a pedestrian start, the 27-year-old has exploded for 19 catches, 289 yards and a touchdown over the last two games, and he seems to have established a strong rapport with quarterback Alex Smith. Maclin will square up against a Bears defense in Week 5 that has already allowed eight touchdowns to wide receivers this season.

He emerged with a back issue, but the lack of participation Monday may have been a precautionary measure. As Thursday's divisional showdown against the Broncos approaches, his health should receive some clarification.

Maclin had a quiet game in his Chiefs debut, but it's encouraging to see him a draw nine targets from quarterback Alex Smith in a game in which the Chiefs were up big early. Kansas City got zero touchdowns from wide receivers last season, but Maclin should be able to find pay dirt sooner or later if he keeps getting a lot of attention from Smith.

Maclin looked exceptional in Friday's preseason game against the Titans, catching 7-of-8 targets for 65 yards and a touchdown.

Maclin appeared to get open at will, and quarterback Alex Smith didn't disappoint, targeting the offseason addition for eight of his 18 passes on the night. With not a ton of competition for targets in the Chiefs' receiving corps, both Maclin and Travis Kelce could find themselves targeted often, leaving a possibility for consistently good weekly outputs from a normally run-oriented offense.

Maclin caught one of two targets for 12 yards in Saturday's preseason victory at Arizona.

Maclin was targeted on the first and third possessions, likely to ensure he gains a rapport with Alex Smith. Expect the breakdown of snaps to be replicated in the Chiefs' next contest, before the starters are afforded the entire first half, as is preseason tradition for the third game. At that point, we'll have a better indication of Maclin's potential in his return to Andy Reid's offense.

Maclin (neck strain) returned to practice Wednesday, Adam Teicher of ESPN.com reports.

Maclin's neck issue proved to be a minor one and the Chiefs' key free agent addition is back on the field, slated to work as the team's No. 1 wideout. Albert Wilson is currently listed as the Chiefs' other starting wide receiver on the team's posted depth chart. Meanwhile, Jason Avant and De'Anthony Thomas are listed as the team's second-stringers.

Maclin is currently dealing with a neck strain, although x-rays on the ailment returned negative, ESPN.com reports.

Maclin missed Monday's practice after hurting his neck during Sunday's session. Fortunately, the wideout's neck strain is not considered serious; however, it wouldn't be surprising if the Chiefs allowed him some added rest for healing purposes.

Maclin was back at practice Thursday.

Maclin was a full participant at Thursday's session and appears to have moved past the foot inflammation that's plagued him over the last few days.

Maclin did not practice Wednesday due to foot inflammation.

The issue doesn't appear to be anything serious, and Maclin is considered day-to-day.

Maclin will sign a five-year, $55 million contract with the Chiefs once they clear the required cap space, Chris Mortensen of ESPN reports. He will be guaranteed $22.5 million of the contract, earning $11 million annually.

Maclin will take on the top receiving duties in Kansas City while reuniting with his former coach, Andy Reid. While Alex Smith hasn't shown the arm strength to take advantage of his speed, the combo of he and Albert Wilson give the Chiefs a pair of deep threats should the need arise. The signing of Maclin all but spells the end of Dwayne Bowe's run in Kansas City as the Chiefs have already announce he will either be released or cut from the team. While the team could add another wide receiver through the draft, they may look elsewhere now with Maclin, Wilson, Travis Kelce and Jamaal Charles all being threats in the receiving game. Either way, Maclin should give the club a bigger receiving threat than they've had in the past few seasons, taking some of the pressure off of Charles and Smith.

Maclin plans to sign with the Chiefs, ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports.

Nothing can be official until Tuesday, but Maclin reportedly plans to reunite with Chiefs head coach Andy Reid. It's an interesting move, as Maclin offers a versatile skill set that makes him valuable in both the short and deep passing games, with the former more likely to be the focus in Kansas City. While Alex Smith may lack the arm strength to take advantage of Maclin's wheels, there should be plenty of targets available in the KC offense. The Chiefs got minimal production from their wide receivers last season, and Dwayne Bowe is a strong candidate to be released. The team likely envisions an offense based around Jamaal Charles, Maclin and Travis Kelce.

Maclin had three catches for 49 yards in Sunday's win over the Giants.

Maclin had a relatively quiet finale, but his 2014 season was a resounding success, as he set or tied career highs in receptions (85), yards (1,318) and touchdowns (10) despite a midseason quarterback change from Nick Foles to Mark Sanchez. He will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason, though he expressed confidence last week that he will re-sign with the Eagles. If he does indeed remain in Philadelphia, he'll likely be a borderline WR1/WR2 in most 2015 fantasy drafts.

Maclin is confident that he will re-sign with Philadelphia, CSN Philadelphia reports.

Maclin said he wants to stay in Philadelphia, adding that the Eagles made it clear that they want to keep him there. Considering his high level of success in 2014, catching 82 passes for 1,269 yards and 10 touchdowns with one game left, it's perfectly understandable why Philadelphia would want to bring him back, especially with Riley Cooper disappointing at one starting receiver spot. If the Eagles can retain Maclin and continue developing rookie second-round pick Jordan Matthews, they should have one of the NFL's more reliable one-two punches at wideout going forward. With all that said, it's easy for Maclin to assure everyone of his intention to return to Philadelphia without having seen what sort of money he might be offered on the open market. After playing at a discount rate on a one-year deal, Maclin presumably is focused on getting a well-deserved payday.

Maclin had four receptions for 62 yards in Saturday's loss to Washington.

After averaging 99 receiving yards and scoring eight touchdowns in eight games started by Nick Foles, Maclin has averaged just 68 yards and scored twice in seven games with Mark Sanchez at the helm. Despite going to the air 50 times Saturday, Sanchez seemed reluctant to take any shots down the field with Maclin, instead throwing to tight end Zack Ertz a whopping 18 times, mostly on short and intermediate routes. Temper your expectations for Maclin next week against the Giants if Sanchez starts again.
