Free agent QB Kevin Kolb was arrested for boating while intoxicated over the weekend in Willacy County, Texas.
Kolb was arrested on Saturday, June 28 and was released Sunday morning after spending about 11 hours in the drunk tank. Soon-to-be 30-year-old Kolb was released by the Bills in March after spending all of last season on injured reserve due to recurring concussion issues. His career is hanging in the balance.

Fri Feb 14 201413:06Bills unsure of Kevin Kolb's career plans
Coach Doug Marrone said he's still unsure whether Kevin Kolb (concussions) will resume his playing career.
Kolb has suffered numerous concussions in his football career, with the latest coming in the third preseason game this past year. He spent the season on injured reserve. Kolb has been increasingly slow to recover from the head trauma and will consider hanging up his cleats. If he decides to continue playing, it likely won't be in Buffalo. He has a hefty $3.6 million cap number.

Tue Feb 11 201411:45Bills expected to restructure or cut Kolb
ESPN Bills blogger Mike Rodak expects the team to release Kevin Kolb or restructure his contract.
This is a no-brainer. Kolb has battled concussions throughout his career, and his latest one may force him to retire. The Bills can save $3.1 million by cutting Kolb, which would seem to be the most likely scenario. Thad Lewis played decently as E.J. Manuel's primary backup and is signed for just $645,000 in 2014.

Wed Jan 8 201411:47Kevin Kolb has a $1M roster bonus
Kevin Kolb has a $1 million roster bonus due in March.
Kolb's long history of concussions has his career in doubt. But even if he's cleared and healthy, the Bills would likely move on and save $3.1 million against the cap. Thad Lewis, signed for $645,000 in 2014, proved himself as a very capable backup to E.J. Manuel this season.

Mon Aug 26 201312:38Marrone: Kolb not yet considering retirement
Speaking Monday, Bills coach Doug Marrone said Kevin Kolb (concussion) will focus on getting healthy before considering retirement.
Kolb has only officially been ruled out for Week 1, but he's expected to miss the entire season. Even if Kolb opts against retirement, his medicals might make the decision for him. Much like Jahvid Best and Laurent Robinson, he's going to struggle to find teams willing to clear him.

Mon Aug 26 201309:09Kolb couldn't answer 'where are you'-type Qs
According to the Buffalo News' Tim Graham, Kevin Kolb struggled to answer questions like "where are you" and "what's you're name" following his concussion in the third preseason game.
Yeah, it's probably time to hang 'em up. Graham told Sirius XM Radio's Ross Tucker that Kolb is "almost certainly done for the year," in addition to fears about Kolb's long-term health. The Bills will move forward with Jeff Tuel, Matt Leinart, and Thad Lewis competing for No. 2 duties behind E.J. Manuel.

Sun Aug 25 201319:08Report: Kolb's concussion may end his career
The Buffalo News' Tim Graham reports the Bills fear Kevin Kolb's concussion may end his NFL career.
"And they're proceeding with that in mind," Graham writes. It's really not surprising because Kolb has suffered numerous NFL concussions and become increasingly slow to recover. The Bills are left with Matt Leinart, UDFA Jeff Tuel, and Thad Lewis behind E.J. Manuel, who is also on the shelf with a knee scope. The Bills are going to end up rushing back Manuel, in all likelihood, to start Week 1. Kolb signed a two-year, $6.1 million contract in March that contained $1 million guaranteed. He's likely headed for injured reserve.

Sat Aug 24 201317:33Kevin Kolb exits early with head injury
Kevin Kolb left Saturday's preseason game and is being evaluated for a possible head injury.
Kolb finished the second series before being taken to the locker room for further tests. He appeared to be knocked in the back of the head on a first-quarter scramble, and the Bills later announced that Kolb is suffering from concussion-like symptoms. Undrafted rookie Jeff Tuel replaced Kolb in the lineup and will play the rest of the game, being he's the only healthy quarterback.

Fri Aug 16 201320:44Kolb has 111 yards, interception in debut
Kevin Kolb completed 13-of-21 passes for 111 yards and an interception in Friday night's preseason game.
Kolb was making his first start after missing last week's preseason opener. He didn't have a great supporting cast with both Stevie Johnson and T.J. Graham sidelined, but it was still a poor performance. His interception came on a tipped ball intended for Marquise Goodwin in the right flat and he threw behind his receivers on multiple occasions. Kolb did most of his damage in the two-minute offense at the end of first-half, connecting with Robert Woods and Marcus Easley for 20-yard gains. E.J. Manuel will be the Bills' Week 1 starter.

Wed Aug 14 201320:20Kolb will start Bills' second preseason game
Kevin Kolb will start Friday night's preseason game against the Vikings.
E.J. Manuel will be the No. 2 quarterback after playing the entire first half in the preseason opener last Sunday. Kolb didn't play in the opener due to a knee injury. The Bills want to at least give Kolb a chance to win the starting job, but this sets Manuel up to start the all-important third preseason contest.

Tue Aug 13 201308:11Kevin Kolb walking with a limp still
Kevin Kolb (knee) continues to walk with a slight limp and is having trouble moving around in the pocket.
Kolb still isn't over his encounter with the rubber mat. He's rushed himself back into practice because he knows he's losing yet another chance to win a starting job, but he may be hurting himself more than helping. First-round rookie E.J. Manuel, who went 16-of-21 during the preseason opener, continues to have all the momentum in this quarterback derby.

Fri Aug 9 201311:59Kevin Kolb back at Bills practice Friday
Kevin Kolb (knee) returned to Bills practice Friday.
You can have a brush with a "rubber mat" and live to tell about it. Kolb's slip ended up costing him six days of practice. E.J. Manuel is on track to start Sunday's preseason opener, and more than likely, Week 1.

Thu Aug 8 201311:02Kevin Kolb (knee) likely to practice Friday
Kevin Kolb (knee) is expected to return to practice on Friday.
That would put Kolb's absence at six days after he "tweaked" his knee by slipping on a rubber mat. It makes him highly unlikely to start Sunday's preseason opener. Kolb opened camp with a bead on the Bills' starting job, but is doing all he can to force rookie E.J. Manuel into the starting lineup. Whomever gets the call in Buffalo, it's a fantasy situation to avoid.

Sat Aug 3 201310:44Marrone: Kolb "tweaked" knee, he's day to day
Updating an earlier item, Bills head coach Doug Marrone said Kevin Kolb "tweaked" his knee and is considered "day to day."
Kolb tripped on a wet mat this morning and exited practice. While the injury isn't serious, this does open the door for E.J. Manuel to get more reps in the coming days.

Sat Aug 3 201309:26Report: Kolb trips at camp, knee looked at
Sal Capaccio of WGR SportsRadio 550 reported that Kevin Kolb exited practice after tripping on a mat this morning.
Kolb was walking onto the main field when he slipped on a wet mat. Trainers took a look at his left knee, and Kolb took his pads off and was visibly upset as he headed to the locker room for evaluation. In all likelihood this is a benign turn of events, but Kolb can ill afford any injury as he battles rookie E.J. Manuel for the starting job.

Wed Jul 31 201315:25Kolb struggling against blitz in practice
WGR 550 Buffalo reports Kevin Kolb has struggled against the blitz in Bills camp.
Oh boy. Kolb has never fared well against oncoming rushers, but the fact that he can't even handle the pressure in training camp is alarming. The local and national media, including BuffaloBills.com, agree that Kolb has been getting soundly out-played by E.J. Manuel this week. The Bills' quarterback competition is taking on the air of a true 50-50 battle.

Tue Jul 30 201314:30Kolb takes 'majority' of first-team reps Tues
Kevin Kolb took the "majority" of the first-team reps in the Bills' first padded practice on Tuesday.
The Buffalo News' unofficial count had Kolb getting 38 snaps to E.J. Manuel's 22. Per reporter Mark Gaughan, Manuel threw the ball a "tad" better. A "tad" better probably won't be enough for Manuel to unseat Kolb before Week 1.

Mon Jul 29 201308:18Kolb gets more first-team reps on Day 1
Kevin Kolb received more first-team reps than E.J. Manuel on the first day of Bills camp, but not "considerably more."
"We have a young quarterback in E.J. and we're bringing him along and at the same point we have a lot of time before the preseason games to get the (reps) to 50-50," coach Doug Marrone said. "E.J. did take some snaps with the first group, but you're right Kevin had more." Marrone had previously pledged to split reps 50-50 right off the bat. Kolb appears to have a leg up, but the Bills will almost certainly be open to Manuel winning the job.
