Sat Aug 3 201319:44Kelenna Azubuike unable to sign w/ ASVEL
Kelenna Azubuike discussed signing with the French team ASVEL but the two sides were unable to reach an agreement.
It's been a long time since we've heard about Azubuike, whose promising career was derailed by a horrible knee injury in 2009. He was waived by the Cavaliers last year after forgettable stints in the D-League and with the Mavericks, and it's unclear if he'll be able to mount another comeback attempt in the NBA or anywhere else.

Sun Oct 14 201214:55Cavaliers waive Kelenna Azubuike
The Cavaliers have waived swingman Kelenna Azubuike.
The Cavs owe Azubuike a guaranteed $1.1 million, which makes this somewhat surprising, but obviously they weren't impressed with him during training camp. He's returning from a series of knee surgeries and may never regain his old athleticism, but we wouldn't be surprised if another team adds him to their roster.

Mon Oct 1 201214:47Kelenna Azubuike says knee is 100 percent
Kelenna Azubuike, coming off a lost season with a torn left patella, says he's 100 percent healthy and ready to have a good season for the Cavaliers.
If he truly is healthy, he could emerge as a sleeper in fantasy - especially if rookie Dion Waiters struggles early in the season. Keep an eye on him throughout training camp and the preseason.

Tue Aug 21 201223:53Kelenna Azubuike 'moving well' on knee
Kelenna Azubuike is said to be "moving well" on his surgically reconstructed knee and could be a factor on the wing for the Cavaliers this season, according to Cavs GM Chris Grant.
Azubuike's promising career was cut short after he tore his left patella tendon in 2009, but he appears to finally be moving well again. And given the Cavaliers lack of depth and experienced talent on the wings, it's possible that Azubuike could make some noise this season. We're not ready to tell you to draft him, but he's definitely worth keeping an eye on in training camp in case his knee has finally made a full recovery. He averaged 14 points, five rebounds and more than a 3-pointer per game for the Warriors in 2008-09 before suffering the knee injury that limited him to a total of 12 games over the past two seasons.

Sun Jul 29 201210:01Cavs will air out Azubuike at training camp
The Cavaliers plan to invite Kelenna Azubuike to training camp to "see if he can still play" -- if not, they'll be in the market for a backup SG.
Rookie Dion Waiters is expected to start at SG, while backup Daniel Gibson is recovering from a torn tendon in his foot, so Azubuike's health is important for Cleveland. He's a 40.9 percent 3-point shooter for his career, but multiple knee surgeries have obliterated his fantasy value and cast doubt upon his future in the NBA. Hopefully the 28-year-old swingman will have a positive training camp.

Sun Jul 15 201215:43Cavs coach uncertain about Kelenna Azubuike
Byron Scott isn't sure whether Kelenna Azubuike will help the Cavaliers this season, but he does believe Azubuike has recovered from multiple knee surgeries.
"If he's healthy, from what I saw in the past, he can play," said Scott. "He could help us. But right now, it's two or three years later with a couple of surgeries, so I've got to see him on the basketball court.'' Azubuike is still 28 years old, so we're not ruling out the possibility that he'll become a rotation player again.

Fri Jun 29 201200:08Azubuike traded to Cavs in Zeller deal
Kelenna Azubuike was traded from the Mavericks to the Cavaliers as part of Thursday's draft-day deal for No. 17 pick Tyler Zeller.
Azubuike made three brief appearances for the Mavs last season, a great sign after he needed two surgeries to repair a torn left patella tendon -- the first surgery was reportedly "botched." His health is the huge question mark here, but at full strength he's good enough to compete for a starting job.

Sat Apr 21 201223:22Azubuike back in action for Mavericks
Kelenna Azubuike made his second appearance of the season on Saturday, going scoreless in four minutes.
Azubuike won't make any impact this year, but it's great to see him back in an NBA uniform after a devastating knee injury. Keep an eye on him this summer.

Mon Apr 9 201213:09Kelenna Azubuike back with Mavs
Mavericks recalled Kelenna Azubuike from the D-League.
With Lamar Odom leaving the team and Jason Kidd (groin) resting, the Mavs need bodies. Azubuike will be depth on the wing behind Vince Carter, Shawn Marion, Jason Terry and Roddy Beaubois.

Fri Mar 23 201213:01Mavericks assign Kelenna Azubuike to D-League
Mavericks assigned G/F Kelenna Azubuike to the Texas Legends of the D-League.
This is the fourth blurb for Azubuike today after not having one all year, so it's been a busy day for the freshly signed swingman. He'll head to the D-League for some needed playing time.

Fri Mar 23 201211:31Mavericks officially sign Kelenna Azubuike
Mavericks signed G/F Kelenna Azubuike.
Azubuike will head to the D-League to hone his game, but the contract is for the remainder of the season and a team option for 2012-13. It's another good bargain pickup by Dallas, but he won't make an impact for fantasy owners.

Fri Mar 23 201210:47Azubuike to start in D-League with Mavericks
Kelenna Azubuike (knee) will begin in the D-League after his signing with the Mavericks becomes official.
The veteran will look to get his legs back under him after missing most of the last two seasons with knee troubles. He'll eventually work his way back up to the NBA where he'll come off the bench for Dallas.

Fri Mar 23 201209:37Dallas Mavericks close to deal with Azubuike?
The Mavericks are reportedly "close to signing" Kelenna Azubuike to a contract.
The deal would be contingent on the swingman passing a physical, which is certainly no slam dunk. He underwent patella surgery in 2009 and hasn't played in the league since the 2009-10 season. He reportedly needed another surgery in March of 2011 on the troublesome knee, so we'll have to wait and see if he passes the physical. The Mavericks recently waived Sean Williams, creating an open roster spot.

The Knicks waived G/F Kelenna Azubuike (knee) on Monday.
The Knicks did not feel that he would be healthy enough to contribute this season so they made the move. Azubuike will be a free agent this upcoming season and will need to prove to teams that he has the explosiveness he had in Golden State.

Fri Feb 25 201116:24Kelenna Azubuike (knee) close to a return?
Kelenna Azubuike (knee) said on Thursday that he could have played Wednesday if needed.
Azubuike is the forgotten man on the Knicks' roster, as he's been quietly rehabbing his knee all year. He could have an impact if he returns healthy, providing depth on the wings, but isn't likely to do much while Landry Fields and Carmelo Anthony are both healthy.

Wed Feb 16 201112:51Azubuike getting closer
Kelenna Azubuike (knee surgery) said he feels closer to returning than he has ever been.
Azubuike is still looking for his trademark explosiveness, but he's been scrimmaging with the Knicks for a couple weeks now. The trade deadline will shake out his role for the rest of the season. Azubuike could very well be on the move thanks to his expiring contract.

Sun Jan 30 201109:55Azubuike returns to a scrimmage
Kelenna Azubuike (knee surgery) finally returned to a scrimmage in practice Saturday but still isn't close to playing.
Azubuike has not played in a game all season has his knee has taken much longer than expected to heal. He has an expiring contract and at this point, the Knicks seem likely to use that trading chip at the deadline. The New York Post suggests that Azubuike could even be cut after the deadline to open a roster spot if a trade doesn't go down. There's no reason to even have him on your radar.

Wed Dec 8 201019:55Azubuike not impressing D'Antoni - at all
Kelenna Azubuike is working his way back from knee surgery but doesn't sound close to returning to a prominent role in New York any time soon.
Mike D'Antoni said he has "no pop" and is not scimmaging at an "NBA level," which are clearly not good signs for Azubuike. Yes, we are slightly concerned that he could rain on the parade of Landry Fields eventually, but it doesn't sound like it's happening any time soon.

Wed Nov 24 201010:11Azubuike could play next week
Kelenna Azubuike (knee surgery) could make his season debut as soon as next week.
Azubuike was a strong candidate to start at shooting guard for the Knicks before his knee issue popped up, so he's someone to keep an eye on. His athleticism and scoring ability will surely pique coach Mike D'Antoni's interest. However, with Landry Fields, Toney Douglas and Wilson Chandler all playing well, minutes will be tough to come by. We're not adding Azubuike yet.

Mon Nov 22 201013:24Azubuike goes 5-on-5, return still unclear
Kelenna Azubuike went through a 5-on-5 scrimmage with the Knicks on Monday, though it's still unclear when he'll make his season debut.
Azubuike could be a great fit with NY, but the big question is how healthy and explosive he'll be returning from major knee surgery. With plenty of competition for minutes at SG and SF, he can safely be left on the wire for now.
