Wed Apr 1 201515:42Lane reassigned to Minor League camp
Lane has been reassigned to Minor League camp, Corey Brock of MLB.com reports.
Lane was a non-roster invitee to Padres' camp this spring after signing a minor league contract in November. He was a long shot to crack the major league rotation, which only had one spot up for grabs coming into camp. Lane had a couple rough outings this spring, which ballooned is ERA to 8.49 over 11.2 innings of work. He was reassigned to Minor League camp along with Marcos Mateo and Rymer Pena

Lane made his second start of the spring Wednesday and allowed seven runs on nine hits over four innings of work. He gave up three home runs in the outing, pushing his home run total this spring to five.
Lane left some pitches up in the zone Wednesday and the Dodgers made him pay for it. He's not in the mix for a spot in the big league rotation with Brandon Morrow and Odrisamer Despaigne as the clear front runners for the fifth spot.
Sat Feb 28 201512:23Lane will get start Wednesday against Mariners
Lane will get the start Wednesday against the Mariners, Corey Brock of MLB.com reports.
While this move comes as a bit of a surprise, it's unlikely that it will have a fantasy impact. Lane, a 38-year-old lefty, will start the season at Triple-A El Paso in all likelihood.
Sat Nov 29 201411:33Lane signed minor league contract with Padres on Friday
Lane signed a minor league contract with the Padres on Friday, Corey Brock of MLB.com reports.
The converted outfielder made his first appearance as a pitcher in the major leagues last season but spent most of the year with the Padres' Triple-A El Paso affiliate, posting a 4.51 ERA and 1.39 WHIP over 149.2 innings. It's uncertain whether Lane, who will turn 38 next month, will be invited to attend major league spring training, but it's moot, as the lefty seems destined to open the 2015 campaign back with El Paso.
Thu Jul 31 201416:56Lane outrighted to Triple-A El Paso
Lane was outrighted to Triple-A El Paso, Dennis Lin of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Unsurprisingly, no teams wanted to chance a 40-man spot on a 37-year-old pitcher who had posted a 4.67 ERA and 1.45 WHIP over 115.2 innings at Triple-A. Lane had an excellent spot start against the Braves on Monday (six innings, six hits, one run allowed), but he was never considered a permanent option for the rotation.
Tue Jul 29 201416:08Padres designate Jason Lane for assignment
Padres designated LHP Jason Lane for assignment.
Lane tossed six-plus innings of one-run ball in his first major league start Monday afternoon against the Braves, but he didn't figure into the San Diego rotation going forward. The former outfielder could draw interest on waivers as a left-handed reliever.

Mon Jul 28 201414:48Jason Lane allows just one run but takes loss
Jason Lane allowed just one run over six-plus innings but took the loss Monday against the Braves.
The one run he allowed was on an Evan Gattis solo shot that led off the bottom of the seventh inning. And that was enough for Atlanta on a day that the San Diego offense managed just five total hits and zero runs. Lane was sharp in his first major league start, striking out two Braves hitters and issuing no walks. He could get another turn in the Padres' rotation soon.

Padres recalled LHP Jason Lane from Triple-A El Paso.
Lane will make a spot start for the Padres on Monday afternoon against the Braves. The former outfielder tossed 4 1/3 scoreless innings of relief for San Diego earlier this season, but he is not a good fantasy option.

Sun Jul 27 201415:14Jason Lane to start for Padres Monday
Jason Lane will be called up to start on Monday against the Braves.
It's expected to just be a spot start, as the anticipation is that Ian Kennedy (oblique) will only miss one turn. A former outfielder, Lane struck out four in 4 1/3 scoreless relief innings with the Padres earlier this season. He can be ignored in fantasy leagues.

Padres designated LHP Jason Lane for assignment.
It's an abrupt end for the 37-year-old, who was a feel-good story after resurrecting his career as a reliever. Lane struck out four in 4 1/3 scoreless innings with the Padres. He was DFA'd to make room on the roster for Andrew Cashner.

Lane last appeared in the majors in 2007 as an outfielder. He has since converted to relief pitching and was sporting a 4.36 ERA in 64 innings this season at the Triple-A level. San Diego will likely use Lane in middle relief, though he could also pinch-hit.

Fri Dec 9 201116:39D-Backs ink LHP Lane to minors deal
Diamondbacks signed LHP Jason Lane to a minor league contract.
Lane has played in the big leagues with the Astros and Padres as an outfielder, but the D-Backs are bringing him to camp as a pitcher. The 34-year-old posted a 4.85 ERA and 12/2 K/BB ratio over 13 innings in six relief appearances with Triple-A Las Vegas in the Blue Jays' organization this past season. He's a longshot to crack Arizona's roster, but it should be an interesting experiment to monitor.
