Sun Aug 9 201519:07Maxiell signed deal with Tianjin Steel of Chinese CBA
Maxiell signed a deal with Tianjin Steel of the Chinese CBA, David Pick of Basketball Insiders reports.
Maxiell has floated around the NBA for the past couple of years, but was unable to find a home in the league for his 11th season. Maxiell logged minutes as a fairly effective rebounder and interior defender during his time in the league, but it appears, at least for now, that his remaining talent is better suited for overseas.

Maxiell played in 61 games this season, but played just 14 minutes per game and averaged 5.6 points and 4.2 rebounds in that time.
Maxiell signed a non-guaranteed contract with the Hornets for 2014-15 and the team decided to fully guarantee his contract in January. The only time Maxiell was on the court playing valuable minutes was when Al Jefferson was out of the rotation with an injury. With that said, when Maxiell was on the court, he was a fairly effective rebounder and interior defender despite his lack of height and length. Regardless, Maxiell will now enter the offseason as a free agent, and while he still, at age 32, should have a few good years left in him after 10 NBA seasons, it is entirely up in the air as to whether a team will need what Maxiell has to offer or not.
Tue Jan 6 201516:57Maxiell will have contract guaranteed for remainder of season
Maxiell will have his contract guaranteed for the remainder of the season, Sportando reports.
Maxiell has been on a non-guaranteed contract this season, but the Hornets will make the call to fully guarantee his deal for the remainder of the season. The former Cincinnati standout has played valuable minutes of late with Al Jefferson (groin) out, logging at least 16 minutes in each of the team's last four games. While he's not much of an offensive threat, Maxiell is a solid rebounder and adequate interior defender, despite his lack of size.

Maxiell played a season-high 29 minutes and provided three points (1-3 FG, 1-2 FT) and eight rebounds in the win over the Magic on Saturday.
Maxiell had only played garbage minutes in December before Al Jefferson (groin) went down. He has averaged 22.3 minutes for 5.0 points and 5.3 rebounds in his last three games. The veteran power forward could be of use for rebounds in deeper leagues.

Maxiell has managed to play in all six games this season but is averaging just 13.8 minutes on the court.
Maxiell isn't expected to topple the 20-minute threshold on any given night, but he's a solid option in the rotation and will be handy if frontcourt injuries become a factor in Charlotte. As for now, Maxiell is only an option in the deepest of leagues that can withstand his limited production off the bench.
Fri Oct 24 201413:52Maxiell should make opening-day roster
Maxiell should make the opening-day roster, the Charlotte Observer reports.
Maxiell signed with the Hornets in September on a non-guaranteed deal so it wasn't a lock he'd make the final roster. Now that he's made the team, he should offer reserve depth at the power forward position, behind the likes of Marvin Williams, Cody Zeller, and Bismack Biyombo.
Thu Sep 25 201414:50Maxiell will sign with Hornets on Friday
Maxiell will sign with the Hornets on Friday, Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer reports.
Maxiell's deal won't be guaranteed, but he'll have a chance to play his way into the Hornets' 15th and final roster spot during the preseason. The undersized forward spent last season with the Magic, appearing in 34 games and making 13 starts before being waived in July. Maxiell is an excellent rebounder for his size but doesn't offer much offensively outside of the paint.
Fri Jul 4 201410:51Magic waive veteran F Jason Maxiell
The Magic have waived veteran forward Jason Maxiell.
His contract, worth $2.5 million, was set to become guaranteed on July 10, so this was an expected move. Maxiell has career averages of 5.9 points, and 4.3 rebounds in 18.9 minutes per game; he is not a fantasy option in any format.

Sun Feb 9 201418:31Jason Maxiell not with team on Sunday
Jason Maxiell (personal) is not with the team and will not play on Sunday.
He has been out of the lineup since Jan. 28 and has only played in two games since Jan. 15. The Magic won't be missing Maxiell at all with Nikola Vucevic back and healthy.

Thu Jan 2 201422:01Jason Maxiell fills in at C with three blocks
Jason Maxiell started at center in place of Nikola Vucevic (sprained ankle) and had six points, six rebounds, two steals and three blocks in 43 minutes.
You would have thought he could have done a little more with all those minutes, but the steals and blocks were nice. Maxiell hasn't been doing much at all this season and should return to obscurity once Vucevic is back, which should be soon.

Tue Dec 31 201319:20Jason Maxiell scores eight points in 19 mins.
Jason Maxiell played 19 minutes against the Warriors on Tuesday with eight points, three boards, one steal and three fouls.
He could be in line for some more minutes with Nikola Vucevic injuring his left ankle for the second time this month. Maxiell started the second half and wind up as starter should Vucevic miss time, or the Magic could go back to a smaller lineup. Still, he's not worth owning in almost any league due to a low upside.

Mon Dec 16 201309:49Jason Maxiell picks up DNP-CD on Sunday
Jason Maxiell was a DNP-CD on Sunday for the first time in December.
Orlando's frontcourt rotation is too crowded for Maxiell to carve out a role. Even if injuries strike, Max's averages in 11 starts this season should ward off fantasy owners -- 6.2 points, 3.4 rebounds and 0.6 blocks.

Tue Oct 29 201322:37Jason Maxiell is terrible in start at PF
Jason Maxiell didn't score in 26 minutes on Tuesday night at Indiana, missing all five of his field goal attempts with five boards, one steal and two blocks.
He and the rest of the team were blocked 18 times tonight and couldn't get many good looks in the paint. Maxiell got the start at power forward tonight, but he's not worth adding in almost any league.

Tue Oct 29 201318:24Jason Maxiell will start at PF on Tuesday
Jason Maxiell will start at PF for the Magic on Tuesday, with Tobias Harris (ankle) and Glen Davis (foot) both unavailable.
Harris is day-to-day so Maxiell's time as a starter will be short-lived. Anyone trying to gauge his upside should consider his muted averages in 71 starts with Detroit last year -- 7.0 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in 25 minutes per game.

Tue Oct 22 201322:55Jason Maxiell scores 16 in rare start
Jason Maxiell had 16 points, six rebounds, a steal and a block on 6-of-13 shooting in a start for the Magic in Tuesday's preseason loss to the Spurs.
With projected starters Tobias Harris and Nikola Vucevic both sitting this one out, Maxiell got a chance to show his stuff. He might get some minutes in the rotation until Glen Davis returns, but for now, it's hard to see this not being one of his best lines of the entire season.

Mon Oct 14 201319:16Jason Maxiell will get rest on Monday
Jason Maxiell will rest on Monday night.
He sounds like he's fine and should be ready to go for the season. The Magic have a lot of youth, so Maxiell is one of the oldest players in their frontcourt. He'll serve as emergency depth.

Thu Jul 18 201313:20Jason Maxiell signs 2-year deal w/ Magic
Jason Maxiell and the Magic have agreed on a two-year, $5 million contract.
The second year is a team option. Orlando views Maxiell as a backup who can play both PF and C, and they surely hope that his blue-collar work ethic rubs off on their young guys. He averaged 6.9 points and a career-high 5.7 rebounds with Detroit last year, before his season ended due to eye surgery.

Tue Apr 9 201308:29Jason Maxiell hanging in there after surgery
Jason Maxiell is "hanging in there" after having surgery to repair a detached retina.
Maxiell will not play again this season and has "likely" played his final game with the Pistons. He'll be an unrestricted free agent in the offseason and Detroit is set to enter next season with a front line of Greg Monroe and Andre Drummond.

Mon Apr 1 201317:48Maxiell out for season w/ detached retina
Jason Maxiell will miss the rest of the season due to a detached retina.
It's a disappointing end to Maxiell's season, in which he averaged 6.9 points and 5.7 rebounds in 25 minutes per game. His absence makes Andre Drummond and Greg Monroe even more secure options down the stretch, and Jonas Jerebko figures to pick up extra minutes in a reserve role.
