Rottino signed a minor-league contract with the Marlins on Thursday that includes an invite to big-league spring training, Juan C. Rodriguez of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
The 35-year-old Rottino last appeared in the majors in 2012, and spent the past season in Korea with the Nexen Heroes. During his time in the KBO, Rottino showed an ability to draw walks at a prolific rate, while offering the versatility to play multiple defensive spots. He'll provide the Marlins with some meaningful organizational depth, but appears unlikely to seriously contend for a 25-man roster spot out of spring training.
