Wed Feb 25 201510:08Hillis released by Giants on Wednesday
Hillis was released by the Giants on Wednesday, Mike Garafolo of FOX Sports 1 reports.
Hillis appeared in nine games last season for the Giants, logging 115 yards on 26 carries (4.4 YPC) before he was placed on injured reserve with a concussion. While Hillis shouldn't have a problem finding a team to bring him in for training camp during the upcoming summer, his middling production the last few seasons could make it difficult for him to earn a roster spot.

Hillis (concussion) has been placed on injured reserve, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.
Hillis was already ruled out for Sunday's game against the 49ers, while Rashad Jennings is expected to return from a knee injury. Orleans Darkwa is in line to serve as the No. 3 running back, a role Hillis held for much of the season. Hillis missed one game due to a concussion last year, and he may not stick with the Giants beyond this season.

Hillis (concussion) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the 49ers, Justin Tasch of the New York Daily News reports.
Hillis is out, but Rashad Jennings is back for the Giants, so look for Jennings and Andre Williams to handle the rushing duties against San Francisco. Hillis still needs to clear the league's concussion protocol before he is cleared to play. We'll consider him questionable for next week's game against the Cowboys until we learn more next week.

Hillis (concussion) missed Thursday's practice, Art Stapleton of the Bergen Record reports.
Hillis, who is currently embedded in the league's concussion protocol, was in fact sent home from Wednesday's practice as a result of the ailment. Due to the murky nature of head injuries, there's no telling when he'll ditch all symptoms, placing his Week 1 availability in doubt. Considering the current state of his health, the final injury report of the week could include a verdict on his upcoming playing status.

Hillis (concussion) was sent home from Wednesday's practice, Newsday's Tom Rock reports.
Head coach Tom Coughlin said Hillis' status is "not good," so it appears he is still feeling the effects of the concussion he suffered in Sunday's game. He will need to be cleared, and will likely need to practice, in order to play Sunday against the 49ers.

Hillis had five receptions for 50 yards and four carries for 20 yards in Monday's 40-24 loss to the Colts.
Hillis got quite a bit of playing time in a game that saw Eli Manning throw 52 passes. However, the aging running back doesn't seem likely to usurp Andre Williams in the pecking order for carries, and Rashad Jennings (knee) will likely be back in the next few weeks.

Sun Aug 24 201420:41Hillis (ankle) returned to practice Sunday
Hillis (ankle) returned to practice Sunday, Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News reports.
Hills has been sidelined since injuring his ankle nearly three weeks ago, but he is feeling good enough to get back on the field. Hillis will have the next couple weeks to try and lock up a spot not he Giants' 53-man roster.

Hillis (ankle) will likely do some work on the field this week, the New York Daily News reports.
Hillis, who didn't play in Friday's preseason win over the Jets, continues to work back from an ankle injury that's hampered him throughout camp. He'll look to expedite his recovery process as he attempts to carve out a role as the backup to assumed starter Rashad Jennings.
Fri Aug 22 201416:42Hillis (foot/ankle) not slated to play Friday against Jets
Hillis (foot/ankle) is not slated to play Friday against the Jets, according to Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News.
Hillis' continued absence has hampered his chances of establishing any sort of key backfield role behind Rashad Jennings, with Hillis' status for next week's preseason finale presumably murky as well.
Thu Aug 21 201412:25Hillis (foot/ankle) remained out of practice on Wednesday
Hillis (foot/ankle) remained out of practice on Wednesday, ESPN.com reports.
Hillis is thus among the banged up Giants players not expected to suit up for Friday's preseason contest against the Jets, with his continued absence doing nothing to further his chances of carving out any sort of key backfield role behind presumed starter Rashad Jennings.
Wed Aug 6 201412:29Hillis (ankle) will be out for "a little while"
Hillis (ankle) will be out for "a little while", according to coach Tom Coughlin, the New York Daily News reports.
Hillis sprained his ankle during Tuesday's practice and is also nursing a foot injury, so he needs time for both ailments to heal. As such, Hillis will be held out of both practice and games until further notice. Although neither injury is considered serious, Hillis' absence opens more opportunity for rookie Andre Williams to stake his claim to be the Giants' No. 2 running back behind Rashad Jennings. With that in mind, Hillis may have to play catch-up whenever he eventually returns this preseason.
Tue Aug 5 201419:48Hillis left Tuesday's practice with ankle injury
Hillis left Tuesday's practice with an ankle injury, Dan Graziano of ESPN NFL Nation reports.
Hillis left in the middle of practice for the training room with just one shoe on, and he was later confirmed to have suffered an ankle injury. The severity of the ailment has yet to be determined, but he'll likely at least miss a few days of practice. Rashad Jennings will continue to serve as the No. 1 back for the Giants, while the injury paves the way for Andre Williams to take reps with the second team.

Working with the second-team offense, Hillis gained 36 yards on seven carries and lost four yards on one reception in Sunday's Hall of Fame Game against the Bills.
Rashad Jennings and Andre Williams both saw their fair share of first-team snaps, while Hillis didn't play until Eli Manning and Co. were taken out of the game. Williams justified his role with a strong performance, creating buzz around himself that can only be a negative for Hillis' fantasy stock. Hillis did work as the clear No. 3, with Michael Cox only used in the fourth quarter.
Wed Jul 30 201417:32Hillis looked sharp at Tuesday's practice
Hillis looked sharp at Tuesday's practice, the Giants' official site reports.
At 6-2, 250 pounds, Hillis has the size to do damage as a blocker, plus he has the hands to catch passes out of the backfield. While Rashad Jennings is the Giants' presumed starter at running back and rookie Andre Williams could be a factor in close, concerns surrounding the health of David Wilson could breathe new life in the chances of Hillis carving out a role in the team's backfield.
Thu Jun 12 201421:09Hillis dealing with minor muscle strain
Giants RB Peyton Hillis has missed a few practices with a minor muscle strain.
Hillis does not expect to miss much time and could return as early as minicamp. This setback is not a good development for Hillis, who may be fighting for his roster spot during training camp. If David Wilson is healthy, Hillis will enter 2014 as at best the No. 4 running back in New York.
