Mon Mar 11 201311:26Yankees plan to reach out to Chipper Jones
Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said Monday that he plans to reach out to Chipper Jones' agent.
It's worth a shot, but all indications are that Chipper is happy in retirement. Even if he did entertain the idea of returning it would surely be with the Braves, who could use some help at the hot corner. Cashman is looking for someone that can help out at the corner infield spots with Mark Teixeira sidelined.

Fri Oct 5 201221:32Braves' protest officially denied by MLB
Joe Torre, speaking on behalf of Major League Baseball, Joe Torre officially announced that the Braves' protest of Friday's game has been denied.
Torre explained that he disallowed the protest because it was a "judgment call". While it's a tough situation, the odds were extremely unlikely that the call was going to be reversed, even though it probably should have. Still, it's not the reason that the Braves lost the game, as they were still facing a three-run deficit after throwing the ball around the infield all evening.

Chipper Jones singled and came around to score Wednesday against the Pirates in his final regular-season at-bat.
Jones took the first pitch he saw from A.J. Burnett into right field for a single. It seemed likely that he'd be removed for a pinch-runner, but he stayed in and came around to score. The hit gave Chipper a .287/.377/.455 line in his final season. The .832 OPS is his highest mark since 2008, though he did come in over .800 each of the last three seasons as well. He ends his career having never finished below .800.

Sun Aug 5 201217:39Jones won't second-guess retirement decision
Chipper Jones still intends to retire after this season.
Jones says he won't reconsider his decision. Fans will certainly support his anti-Favre stance, but the veteran infielder wouldn't be blamed if he was having second thoughts about hanging it up. Jones has posted an elite .320/.394/.513 slash line, with an OPS mere points behind behemoths such as Prince Fielder and Josh Hamilton. "I told my agent [B.B. Abbott] in spring training," Jones said. "He told me, 'You can't back-track on this [retirement decision]. If you've got 20 homers and you're hitting .300 and you've got 80 or 90 RBIs, you can't second-guess yourself.' And I said, well, I'm going to have those numbers, and I'm ready to leave."
