Fri May 1 201518:13Cribbs released by Colts on Friday
Cribbs was released by the Colts on Friday, Adam Caplan of ESPN reports.
Cribbs appeared in six games last season but the Colts are expected to utilize rookie Phillip Dorsett as their new returner who was selected in the first round of the draft Thursday. It would be hard to imagine Cribbs not finding a spot on another roster at a later date, but as for now, the 31-year-old is in search of a job.

Cribbs averaged 32 yards on two kickoff returns and averaged 9.6 yards on five punt returns in Sunday's win over Jacksonville.
Cribbs was signed last week by the Colts and takes over as the punt and kickoff returner. It doesn't look like he'll have any role on offense, however.
Tue Nov 18 201415:06Cribbs signed by Colts on Tuesday
Cribbs was signed by the Colts on Tuesday.
Cribbs will serve as a return specialist in Indianapolis, a skill he has plenty of experience with as the player with the third highest career kick return yardage total in NFL history. When the Colts lost Ahmad Bradshaw for the season due to a broken fibula, their former return man, Dan Herron, was promoted to the No. 2 back, leaving a vacancy on kick and punt returns. Cribbs is unlikely to factor into the offensive scheme much, but has a bit of value in return yardage leagues.

Jets placed KR Josh Cribbs on injured reserve with a shoulder injury, ending his season.
Cribbs' days of running the wildcat for New York's beleaguered offense are through. Going on 31 and increasingly injury prone, Cribbs is going to have trouble finding a home for the 2014 season. His once dynamic return skills have all but evaporated. Darius Reynaud has been signed to take his roster spot.

Tue Dec 3 201309:46Josh Cribbs's injury is 'pretty bad'
Coach Rex Ryan said Josh Cribbs' shoulder injury is "pretty bad."
Cribbs is likely done for the year after appearing in just six games for the Jets. Antonio Cromartie filled in as a kickoff returner in Week 13, but that's not a viable solution considering his hip issues and role on defense. The Jets might have to look back to old friend Joe McKnight, who is currently on the street.

Sun Nov 24 201316:30Josh Cribbs plays in Wildcat vs. Ravens
Josh Cribbs rushed five times for 20 yards and completed 1-of-2 passes for 13 yards in the Jets' Week 12 loss to Baltimore.
Obviously lacking confidence in rookie quarterback Geno Smith, the Jets turned to heavy usage of Wildcat-type plays with ex-Brown Cribbs as the triggerman. Cribbs was just signed off the street on October 15. Knowing Rex Ryan's affinity for the Wildcat, it's entirely possible this package stays as staple of Marty Morhinweg's offense. It was relatively effective in Week 12.

In what sounds like an agent-driven report, CBS' Jason La Canfora reports Cribbs is "back to full health." Now on the wrong side of 30, Cribbs would likely be limited to special teams if he wound up with Gang Green.

Sun Aug 25 201314:20Raiders release return specialist Josh Cribbs
Raiders released KR/WR Josh Cribbs.
Looks like he's done. Knee problems popped up on Cribbs' offseason physicals, and his lack of burst was evident on kickoff returns in preseason games. The Raiders will go with Jacoby Ford as their No. 3 receiver and return specialist.

Mon Aug 19 201316:54Josh Cribbs may lose his roster spot
Raiders KR/WR Josh Cribbs' roster spot is "on shaky ground."
Cribbs has looked several steps slow on preseason returns, and he doesn't help on offense. "I think we've got to see the burst and the explosion," coach Dennis Allen said. "That's something that we're looking for in the next couple of games." The Raiders would lose nothing by cutting Cribbs and his $865k salary.

Sun Aug 18 201315:20Josh Cribbs has lost a step?
Based on preseason tape review, CSN Bay Area's Scott Bair believes Raiders KR/WR Josh Cribbs has "lost a step."
Cribbs underwent offseason meniscus surgery, and several NFL teams wouldn't clear him during free-agency physicals. Through two exhibition games, Cribbs has returned five kickoffs for 115 yards (23-yard average). The 30-year-old has not been involved in the punt return game or in the Raiders' offense.

Tue Jun 11 201318:17Raiders KR/WR Cribbs out until training camp
Raiders KR/WR Josh Cribbs (meniscus surgery) will be sidelined until training camp.
There had been some confusion over when Cribbs would be ready to resume football activities after Jets GM John Idzik said his knee "wasn't quite there yet." Cribbs initially refuted the claim, but Coach Dennis Allen cleared it up today, stating his kick returner wont practice until training camp. Cribbs will be the Raiders' primary return man once the season starts.

Fri May 17 201309:49Josh Cribbs says he'll be ready for Week 1
New Raiders KR Josh Cribbs (meniscus surgery) says he'll be ready "when it's time to play football."
Cribbs called Jets GM John Idzik's observation that his knee "(wasn't) quite there yet" a "negotiation tactic" before admitting he might not be ready to practice for over another month. Regardless, Cribbs should be ready well in advance of Week 1, and is slotted in as the Raiders' primary return man.

Wed May 15 201315:48Raiders sign return specialist Josh Cribbs
Raiders agreed to terms with WR/KR Josh Cribbs, formerly of the Browns, on a one-year contract.
Jets GM John Idzik said just yesterday that Cribbs' knee wasn't yet up to snuff coming off meniscus surgery, but the Raiders decided they couldn't wait to sign the return specialist. Going on 30, Cribbs has taken a number of thundering hits over the years, but remained one of the league's best return men last season. Cribbs should see little, if any, time on offense. He's surpassed 200 yards receiving only twice in his eight-year career.

Tue May 14 201313:28Josh Cribbs' health 'not quite there yet'
Jets GM John Idzik says free agent Josh Cribbs' knee "isn't quite there yet."
The Jets are one of four teams to work Cribbs out and give him a physical in the past week. The fact that Cribbs' knee is still holding up a signing two months after it caused the Cardinals to pass on him isn't exactly a promising sign for his 2013. Cribbs could continue to linger on the open market indefinitely.

Cribbs also said the Lions are "high" on his list. The 30-year-old career special teamer is deciding between Detroit, Oakland, the Giants, and the Jets.
