WFAN's Sweeny Murti reports that retired third baseman Troy Glaus has reached out to the Yankees about a potential comeback.
Glaus, 36, hasn't appeared in the majors since 2010 and remains doubtful to unretire. According to Murti, free agent Cody Ransom has also expressed interest in joining the Yankees, though neither are expected to sign.

Fri Dec 9 201108:24Troy Glaus says he's retired
Buster Olney of ESPN.com reports that Troy Glaus does not intend to continue his playing career.
Olney says that he actually bumped into Glaus at the Dallas airport a couple months ago and the 35-year-old told him then that he was finished playing. It's not a surprise, as Glaus had chances to sign with teams for the 2011 season but decided instead to spend more time with his family. If he's officially done, he finishes his career with a .254/.358/.489 batting line and 320 homers over 13 seasons.

Sat Jan 29 201121:23Glaus to sit out start of season
Free agent Troy Glaus has decided against signing with a team for now and will sit out the start of the 2011 season.
The 34-year-old Glaus isn't necessarily retiring, but it sounds like he could be done. "Troy had opportunities to sign with more than one club this offseason and each time he was presented with a particular opportunity, he weighed it against spending more time with his wife and family," agent Mike Nicotera said. "After a good deal of thought and discussion in each instance, he decided to pass on playing." There never seemed to be much of a market for Glaus' services, even though he, unlike most of the rest of the first base-DH alternatives available this winter, offered right-handed power. If he's done, he finishes his career with a .254/.358/.489 line and 320 homers in 13 seasons.

Wed Dec 1 201009:14Rockies showing interest in Troy Glaus
Troy Renck of the Denver Post reports that the Rockies have displayed interest in free agent Troy Glaus.
Renck suggests that Glaus could serve in a Jason Giambi mold for the club, acting as a part-time first baseman and right-handed pinch-hitter. Glaus turned in a .240/.344/.400 batting line, 16 home runs and 71 RBI over 412 at-bats this past season for the Braves after signing a one-year, $1.75 million contract. That kind of deal should do the trick this time around as well.

Mon Nov 29 201015:34Glaus drawing interest on free agent market
According to Buster Olney of ESPN.com, Troy Glaus has begun drawing legitimate interest on the free agent market.
Glaus is no longer a very good defender, but he does pack some power and the market is thin on big-boppers this winter. The 34-year-old finished the 2010 season with a .240/.344/.400 batting line, 16 home runs and 71 RBI over 412 at-bats. He should be limited to first base or DH.

Mon Oct 11 201014:56Braves put Glaus at third, bench Conrad
Troy Glaus will make his first start of the year at third base in Monday's Game 4 against the Giants.
The Braves are benching Brooks Conrad following his three-error game on Sunday. Glaus, who entered Friday's game at third base and started a key double play, will be in the starting lineup for the first time since Sept. 15. Omar Infante moves to second.

Tue Sep 28 201017:36Glaus an option at third base?
Braves manager Bobby Cox mentioned Troy Glaus as an option for third base, but only if necessary.
Glaus isn't the best option defensively at third base at this point of his career, so it sounds like he would only play there in an emergency situation. Brooks Conrad will most likely play the hot corner until (or if) Martin Prado returns to the lineup.

Thu Sep 2 201016:42Braves activate Troy Glaus from disabled list
Braves activated 1B Troy Glaus from the 15-day disabled list.
Glaus has been out since August 18 with a phantom injury termed a "sore left knee." He simply doesn't have a spot with the Braves now that Derrek Lee and 20-year-old Freddie Freeman are on the roster. Look for the 34-year-old Glaus to serve only as a late-innings pinch-hitter down the stretch.
Tue Aug 31 201018:40Braves listening to offers for Troy Glaus
David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution hears that the Braves "are listening seriously" to trade offers for Troy Glaus.
Glaus is expected to be activated from the disabled list Thursday. He's not going to be an everyday player with the Braves anymore, but he could be useful to an American League team. O'Brien isn't sure if anything will happen before September 1.

Tue Aug 31 201014:56Glaus to be activated from DL on Thursday
Troy Glaus (knee) will be activated from the disabled list Thursday.
The big man has been out since mid-August with a sore left knee. He was healthy then and he's healthy now, but the Braves don't exactly have a spot for him. Glaus will serve mostly as a late-innings pinch-hitter.

Mon Aug 23 201021:56Glaus (knee) hitless in first rehab game
Troy Glaus (knee) was 0-for-2 with two walks and two strikeouts in his first minor league rehab game with Triple-A Gwinnett on Monday night.
Glaus played third base during Monday's game. He isn't eligible to return from the disabled list until rosters expand in September, so he has plenty of time to get some more work in.

Mon Aug 23 201017:03Glaus (knee) to begin rehab stint Monday
Troy Glaus (knee) is scheduled to begin a minor league rehab assignment with Triple-A Gwinnett on Monday.
Perhaps of most significance, Glaus will be playing third base on Monday night. We doubt he will be able to handle it physically, but the Braves would like to see what sort of flexibility he can offer now that Derrek Lee is the everyday first baseman.

Wed Aug 18 201019:07Braves place Troy Glaus on disabled list
Braves placed 1B Troy Glaus on the 15-day disabled list with a sore left knee.
Glaus will take a week off then join up with Triple-A Gwinnett for a minor league rehab assignment. He's likely to return as a backup corner infielder and late-innings pinch-hitter once rosters expand in September. The 34-year-old lost his job Wednesday when the Braves dealt for Derrek Lee.
Wed Aug 18 201012:34Report: Braves could place Glaus on DL
Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com reports that Troy Glaus could be placed on the disabled list if the Braves acquire Derrek Lee.
Glaus is batting just .196 with two homers and 12 RBI in 102 at-bats since the All-Star break and a sore left knee probably has a lot to do with. He has tried to play through the pain, but the acquisition of Lee would give him the rest he needs to heal. If healthy, he could still be useful as a right-handed bat off the bench down the stretch and in the post-season.

Sun Aug 15 201017:29Glaus hits rare homer in Braves' blowout
Troy Glaus went 2-for-5 with a home run in Sunday's blowout win over the Dodgers.
The first baseman belted a three-run shot in the fifth and added an RBI single in the eighth. It's no secret that Glaus, who now has 16 longballs on the year, has been in a horrendous slump, but he did hit a home run Tuesday, as well, so perhaps he might be coming out of it a bit. Perhaps.
Fri Aug 6 201018:26Slumping Glaus back in the lineup Friday
Troy Glaus is back in the starting lineup Friday.
Glaus' only appearance over the last three games came in one pinch-hit appearance. Manager Bobby Cox wanted to give his slumping first baseman some time off in hopes that he will come back ready to contribute. Glaus is hitting a measly .163 with one home run over his last 40 games.

Mon Aug 2 201011:01Glaus hitting just .159 in over last 107 ABs
Troy Glaus has hit .159 over his last 32 games.
Glaus is just 17-for-107 over that span with no home runs and six RBI. "It'll turn around," the first baseman said Sunday. "Work in the cage and try to figure out what's going on, and apply it to the game situations." He was scorching hot from early May to mid-June so his overall stats still look great, but he probably shouldn't be owned or started in most mixed leagues.

Sat Jul 10 201015:34Glaus still has soreness in left wrist
Troy Glaus still has soreness in his left wrist but plans to play through it.
Glaus was plunked by a pitch last night but stayed in the game. "When I get out and swing a few times it'll loosen up," he said. The first baseman is in the lineup Saturday, so it sounds like he'll be alright.

Troy Glaus (knee) is back in the starting lineup against the Phillies on Tuesday.
Glaus has been out of the lineup since Friday due to a sore left knee.

Mon Jul 5 201017:39Glaus (knee) hopes to play Tuesday
Troy Glaus (knee) said he hopes to return to the lineup on Tuesday.
Glaus hasn't played since Friday, but the good news is that the swelling in his left knee has gone down over the past two days. Hopefully he can finish off the first half with a flourish. He is batting just .235 since the start of June.
