Fri Jan 23 201523:35Jurrjens re-signed with Rockies on minor-league contract Friday
Jurrjens re-signed with the Rockies on a minor-league contract Friday, MLB.com's Thomas Harding reports. The deal includes an invitation to major league camp.
Jurrjens has seen his career spiral downward since making the All-Star Game in 2011, bouncing around between four different organizations and posting a cumulative 7.20 ERA over 15 appearances (13 starts) the last three seasons. He made two of those starts with the Rockies last season when injuries decimated the rotation, but did little to suggest that he's close to reemerging as a competent big-league hurler. At this point, he's best utilized as nothing more than a depth starter in the minors for an organization.

Jurrjens has elected free agency, Matt Eddy of Baseball America reports.
The Rockies traded for Jurrjens out of desperation in early July, and the right-hander was predictably awful in his two starts for the big club (10.61 ERA, 2.46 WHIP). He went 2-8 with a 4.54 ERA in 14 starts at the Triple-A level, and at this point in his career, Jurrjens is likely best suited for an organizational depth role.

Jair Jurrjens gave up three earned runs over 4 2/3 innings Wednesday in a no-decision against the Padres.
Jurrjens surrendered eight hits and walked two in the rough outing, but the Rockies' bullpen and offense both performed well in the 6-3 victory. Jurrjens has a hideous 10.61 ERA and 2.46 WHIP through two starts. He is not long for Colorado's big league rotation.

Knee problems have limited Jurrjens to 13 appearances (11 starts) in the majors over the past two seasons, but he's back to 100 percent following a procedure last September. It's tough to expect much at this point, but it's easy to forget that he's only 28 years old.

Sun May 4 201414:38Jurrjens hitting 90 mph, looking for job
CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that Jair Jurrjens (knee) is currently touching 90 mph in throwing sessions and looking to sign on with a major league team.
Knee issues have limited Jurrjens to just 11 starts over the last two seasons in the majors. He's coming back from a knee operation performed last September but is evidently healthy now. He turned just 28 in January and would make for a solid no-risk minor league signing for someone.

Tue Nov 12 201323:25Jair Jurrjens 'getting some love'
Yahoo! Sports' Tim Brown reports that Jair Jurrjens is "getting some free-agent love."
Brown also reveals that Jurrjens underwent knee surgery in September that requires 8-10 weeks of recovery. The right-hander has undergone multiple surgeries in the past and worked on minor league deals for the Orioles and Tigers this past season. He'll surely have to settle for another non-guaranteed pact.
