Thu Feb 20 201410:26Willis McGahee not expected back in CLE
Free agent Willis McGahee is not expected to be re-signed by the Browns.
We'd be surprised if McGahee got signed by anyone. He'll turn 33 in October and is coming off a season that saw him rush 138 times for 377 yards (2.73 YPC) with two touchdowns, grading out 41st among 55 qualifiers in Pro Football Focus' grades. The Browns desperately need to upgrade on in-house options Edwin Baker, Dion Lewis and Chris Ogbonnaya.

Free agent Willis McGahee said he wants to play four more years.
In related news, we want an all-expense paid trip to Hawaii with Mila Kunis. Neither fantasy is happening. McGahee was scraped off the street by the desperate Browns last season, rushing 138 times for a pathetic 377 yards (2.73 YPC) with two touchdowns. He'll turn 33 in October and will be lucky to get one more cup of coffee in the NFL. The Browns desperately need to add talent to the running back spot, where new offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan will be installing his zone-blocking scheme. Free agent Ben Tate makes plenty of sense.

Sun Dec 22 201318:51McGahee doesn't touch ball in Week 16
Willis McGahee didn't register a single offensive touch in Week 16 against the Jets.
McGahee was active but played maybe one snap. Edwin Baker got the start and handled much of the work. Chris Ogbonnaya received two touches as the backup. McGahee was in on a short-yardage play, but the Browns chose to pass. Baker is the Browns' new lead back and will handle the work in Week 17 at Pittsburgh.

Willis McGahee (concussion) is listed as probable for Week 16.
McGahee's return makes Cleveland's backfield hands-off in Week 16 fantasy lineup decisions. There's simply no telling who will get carries and touches.

Fri Dec 20 201310:26McGahee wants to play four more years
Willis McGahee said he wants to play four more years.
"That would give me 15 years," McGahee said. "This would come from a guy who was never supposed to play again. My back has always been against the wall." McGahee, of course, is referencing the catastrophic knee injury he suffered while in college. At 32 years old, he's averaged a pitiful 2.7 YPC this season and didn't have a job until Week 3. McGahee is set to become a free agent again. These last two games very well could be it for him. McGahee sits in the No. 37 spot on the all-time rushing list with 8,474 career yards.

Thu Dec 19 201316:42Willis McGahee limited in Thursday's practice
Willis McGahee (concussion, knee) remained limited on Thursday.
McGahee is going to suit up against the Jets' stout run defense, but could be in an early-down timeshare with Edwin Baker, whom the Browns appear keen to evaluate. McGahee should be nowhere near championship-week lineups.

Willis McGahee (concussion, knee) was limited in Wednesday's practice.
McGahee is on track to play this week, but his starting role is in doubt. He'll likely be returning to a committee with Edwin Baker and Chris Ogbonnaya if active in Week 16 against the Jets.

Wed Dec 18 201311:06Willis McGahee cleared to practice and play
Willis McGahee (concussion) has been cleared to practice and play in Sunday's game against the Jets.
The Browns want to get Edwin Baker some more chances over the final two games, so we can't be sure McGahee will even get his starting job back. He's averaging a pathetic 2.73 YPC on 138 rushes this season. No Cleveland runner is a realistic fantasy option against Rex Ryan's strong front seven.

Thu Dec 12 201309:30Willis McGahee's season is in jeopardy?
Coach Rob Chudzinski didn't rule out Willis McGahee's (concussion) season being over.
McGahee may have lost consciousness when he took a headshot late in the loss at New England. It doesn't sound like the Browns are anticipating his return anytime soon, as they've signed Edwin Baker. Chris Ogbonnaya is shaping up as a desperation RB2 play against the Bears Sunday.

Wed Dec 11 201310:57Willis McGahee (concussion) won't practice
Willis McGahee (concussion) will not practice Wednesday.
The Browns running back situation is normally a fantasy black hole, but there's intrigue this week because they have a home game against the Bears. Chicago has given up at least 100 yards rushing to opposing running backs in six straight games. McGahee was sent home from the facility Wednesday, suggesting that he's not on track to get cleared in time for Sunday. Chris Ogbonnaya is in line to draw the start, with Fozzy Whittaker and newly signed Edwin Baker in supporting roles. Ogbonnaya would have some desperation RB2 appeal, especially in PPR formats.

Mon Dec 9 201309:00Browns confirm concussion for Willis McGahee
Willis McGahee sustained a concussion during Sunday's loss at New England.
McGahee took a shot to the head late in the fourth quarter and did not return. The veteran will be in a race to get cleared ahead of a dream Week 15 matchup at home against the Bears. If he can't go, look for the Browns to trot out Chris Ogbonnaya as the starter and Fozzy Whittaker as the committee partner. Ogbonnaya would be the preferred desperation fantasy add because of his added role in the passing game (41 catches on the season).

Sun Nov 17 201317:15McGahee struggles again in loss to Bengals
Willis McGahee was held to 13 yards on six carries in Sunday's Week 11 loss to the Bengals.
McGahee started, but lost significant snaps to Chris Ogbonnaya and was limited to short-yardage and red-zone work. He failed to convert on his only goal-line carry in the first quarter and is averaging a pathetic 2.6 yards per carry through eight games. McGahee can be dropped for higher upside options in re-draft leagues.
