Chester signed with the Falcons on Monday.
Chester, who was released by the Redskins last week, joins the Falcons after having started all 64 of Washington's regular season games over the past four years. That sort of experience figures to bolster an Atlanta offensive line that was decimated by poor play and injuries last season.
Wed May 27 201513:19The Redskins have released Chester
The Redskins have released Chester, the Washington Post reports.
The release of Chester, who started every game for Washington over the last four seasons, saves the team $4 million against this year's salary cap. In Chester's absence, look for 2014 third-rounder Spencer Long to fill the open spot at right guard for the team.
Tue Jul 1 201410:22Redskins RG Chester took all 1st-team reps
Chris Chester took all of the first-team reps at right guard during Redskins spring practices.
Chester has been a popular candidate for release since last season ended. The 31-year-old had a miserable year, and the Redskins then drafted Spencer Long in the third round of May's draft. Many in the organization believe Chester can bounce back in 2014. He hasn't missed a start in three seasons with Washington.

Tue Jun 17 201409:09Redskins RG Chester competing to keep job
According to ESPN Redskins reporter John Keim, RG Chris Chester is "not a lock" to keep his job.
The Redskins put Chester on notice when they selected G Spencer Long in the third round of last month's draft. They're going to give the rookie every opportunity to unseat Chester. Washington can save $2.6 million against the cap by releasing Chester, who signed a five-year, $20 million deal ahead of the 2011 season.

Tue May 27 201411:50Redskins can save over $2M by cutting Chester
The Redskins can save $2.6 million against the salary cap by releasing RG Chris Chester.
Chester is entering the fourth year of a five-year, $20 million contract and is coming off a season where he was pushed around with ease as a pass blocker. Although he's yet to miss a start in 48 games with the Redskins, Chester's play has been extremely inconsistent. Washington selected G Spencer Long in the third round. They'll give him every opportunity to unseat Chester this summer.

Fri Jun 28 201308:57Chris Chester has been workhorse for 'Skins
Redskins RG Chris Chester hasn't missed a snap since signing his five-year, $20 million contract in July 2011.
That's 2,165 plays. Viewed as an overpay following the lockout, Chester did struggle in 2011, but was much improved in 2012. He graded out as Pro Football Focus' No. 10 right guard as the Redskins led the league in rushing. Chester is due an affordable $3 million each of the next two seasons.

Fri Jul 29 201111:58Redskins to play Chester at RG
The Redskins plan to start Chris Chester at right guard.
Chester couldn't hold down a starting job in Baltimore due to ineffectiveness, but the Redskins gave him $20 million. The 'Skins have one of the worst offensive lines in football and are planning to stage a full-blow competition between Rex Grossman and John Beck at quarterback. They are the leaders in the clubhouse for Stanford QB Andrew Luck.

Thu Jul 28 201116:07Chris Chester moves down to D.C.
Redskins agreed to terms on a five-year, $20 million contract with G/C Chris Chester.
As they always do, the Redskins are overpaying for mediocre talent. Chester has struggled and eventually been benched anytime the Ravens tried to give him a long-term starting role. But the 'Skins are in desperate need of warm bodies on the offensive line and Chester fits the bill. He has connections to Redskins offensive line coach Chris Foerster, who spent three years with the Ravens between 2005-07.

Sun Jul 17 201110:53Ravens likely to let Chester test market
The Baltimore Sun expects the Ravens to let free agent G/C test the open market.
The Sun reported earlier in the week that Chester has been unhappy with his use in Baltimore, so it sounds like he'll be doing a lot more than testing the market. A backup level talent, Chester has primarily played guard the past three seasons, but is a competent center. His versatility should be an asset as he peddles his wares.

Wed Jul 13 201109:02Chris Chester unhappy in Baltimore?
The Baltimore Sun believes free agent G/C Chris Chester hasn't been happy with the way the Ravens have used him.
The 2006 second-rounder has been shuffled around because he's never played well enough to be given a long-term starting role. The Ravens want him to add strength if he's going to succeed Matt Birk at center. The Redskins should have little trouble recruiting Chester if a starting job is promised.

Sun Jun 12 201120:26Ravens want Chester back as a reserve
The Ravens want to bring back free agent G/C Chris Chester as a reserve.
Chester was a primary culprit in the Ravens' run-blocking woes as the starting right guard last year. With Marshal Yanda ticketed for a move back inside, Chester would head back to the bench as insurance for center Matt Birk, who struggled with injuries late last season.

Wed Mar 2 201116:17Ravens tender Chester and Yanda
Ravens extended restricted free agent tenders to C/RG Chris Chester and RG/RT Marshal Yanda.
Chester got the original pick tender. He's a league-average starter and was originally a second-round pick, so that was the only way to go. Yanda's tender level is unknown, but it's safe to assume it was high. Behind Haloti Ngata, extending Yanda's contract is one of Baltimore's top priorities.

Fri Dec 24 201010:28Chester returns to starting right guard job
Chris Chester returned the starting right guard job in Week 15, sending Oniel Cousins back to the bench.
The Ravens tried Cousins at tackle and Marshal Yanda at right guard in Week 14, only to ditch the experiment after one week. Chester's return coincided with Ray Rice's breakout game against the Saints, so the tinkering will likely come to an end.

Tue Nov 30 201009:08Chris Chester could return to practice
Ravens coach John Harbaugh said RG Chris Chester (cellulitis) could return to practice this week.
Chester missed his second straight game this past week with a bacterial leg infection. With such an unpredictable ailment, you never know long it might keep him out, but it sounds like he has a shot to return in Week 13. It would be great timing, as LT Michael Oher is banged up and the Steelers are coming to town.

Sun Nov 28 201015:08Ravens declare Week 12 inactives
Ravens declared RG Chris Chester, WR Marcus Smith, TE Ed Dickson, DL Brandon McKinney, DL Lamar Divens, LB Dannell Ellerbe, CB Fabian Washington, and S Tom Zbikowski inactive for Week 12 against the Buccaneers.
Tony Moll will fill in at right guard for a second straight week. Ray Rice remains an elite fantasy play against a weak Bucs run defense.
Sat Nov 27 201009:02Chester could play in Week 12, says Harbaugh
Ravens RG Chris Chester (cellulitis) has not been ruled out for Week 12.
Said head coach John Harbaugh, "I'm certain he (Chester) could go in and play without practicing this week."Though Chester is seemingly healthy enough to take the field, the team would be hard pressed to rush him back after Tony Moll filled in admirably in Week 11. Ray Rice's matchup remains the same regardless if Chester or Moll starts.

Sun Nov 21 201017:34Chris Chester could miss two weeks
Ravens RG Chris Chester could miss Weeks 12 and 13 with what coach John Harbaugh described Sunday as "cellulitis."
Cellulitis occurs beneath skin tissue and can spread into the blood stream, so the Ravens are going to be cautious with their starting right guard. "So he's probably going to be a week or two until it can calm down," Harbaugh said. "We'll just have to see how he is. The fever is going down. They went back a second time and cleaned it out because his fever spiked."

Sat Nov 20 201016:15Raven RG Chris Chester out Week 11
Ravens beat writer Aaron Wilson reports that RG Chris Chester (skin infection) will remain bed-ridden for "at least another day or two" and will "definitely" not play in Week 11.
As expected, Tony Moll will start in Chester's place. The starting lineman had been running a high fever since Thursday, dealing with an infection from a cut sustained earlier this week. Ray Rice's matchup will not suffer due to the absence of Chester, as Moll is a formidable backup.

Sat Nov 20 201012:53Chester not likely to play in Week 11
Ravens beat writer Jamison Hensley does not sound optimistic about RG Chris Chester's (questionable, skin infection) chances of playing in Week 11.
Tony Moll would start in place of Chester. He won't be a significant downgrade in the run blocking game, and Ray Rice will continue to be an elite start against Carolina.

Fri Nov 19 201014:16Chris Chester hospitalized
Ravens coach John Harbaugh revealed that RG Chris Chester was recently hospitalized with a skin infection.
"We think he'll be there for Sunday, but you never know with those things," Harbaugh said. Harbaugh didn't say if it was a staph infection. The Ravens are likely to gash the Panthers on the ground regardless of Chester's status. Chester, in fact, is one of Baltimore's poorest run blockers up front.
