Phillies released INF-OF Robb Quinlan.
Quinlan inked a minor league contract with the Phillies in January and was also granted an invitation to spring training. But he didn't last long and will now try to latch on elsewhere. The 33-year-old spent a majority of the 2010 season with the Angels' Triple-A affiliate.

Phillie signed INF-OF Robb Quinlan to a minor league contract.
He'll also get an invite to spring training. Quinlan, 33, spent most of last season with Triple-A Salt Lake, but went 4-for-33 (.121) in 23 games with the Angels. With the ability to play the corners and the outfield, he'll compete for the final bench spot during spring training.

Quinlan was really struggling and the Angels are looking for offense in their struggle to stay in the race for the AL West. His demotion might mean regular playing time for Paul McAnulty, but neither had enough power to really register in mixed leagues.

A fine performance, but the fact that Quinlan was starting at first base just helps reinforce how desperate the Halos are for help at the position in the absence of Kendry Morales. Recently recalled from the minors, Quinlan entered the game without a hit in 14 major-league at-bats this year and has posted a sub-700 OPS in each of his past three seasons.
