Witten caught 5-of-6 targets for 33 yards in Sunday's 30-6 loss to New England. He also lost a fumble.
The Patriots seemed intent on shutting down Witten, holding him without a catch in the first half. He made a few plays in the second half, but QB Brandon Weeden had a tough time moving the ball for most of the game, so that didn't help Witten's cause. He's averaging exactly five catches per game since Tony Romo went down with a collarbone injury in Week 2, but he hasn't scored during that span. In any event, make sure Witten is on our bench next week, as the Cowboys will have their bye.

Witten caught four passes for 57 yards in Sunday's 26-20 loss to the Saints.
Witten had a big 28-yard catch on the game-tying drive, but he spent most of his night either blocking or running short routes. Despite catching fewer than six passes for the first time all season, he fell between 56 and 65 receiving yards for a fourth consecutive game. The Cowboys have a Week 5 home date with the Patriots.

Witten caught six passes on seven targets for 65 yards in Sunday's loss to the Falcons.
His role didn't change much with Brandon Weeden under center, and Witten seems to be preferred possession receiver for the Cowboys no matter who the quarterback is. If the passing game as a whole continues to struggle with Weeden though, it would put a ceiling on Witten's production.

Witten is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Falcons.
There was some concern Witten would miss Sunday's contest after he was limited in the first two days of practice this week, but he assuaged those worries by logging a full session on Friday. Expect Witten to see continued looks in the Cowboys offense as a security blanket for new quarterback Brandon Weeden, who replaces the injured Tony Romo (collarbone).
Fri Sep 25 201515:09Jason Witten: (Ankle) Probable For Week 3
Witten (ankles/knee) is probable for Sunday's game against the Falcons, Todd Archer of ESPN Dallas reports.
Despite suffering two sprained ankles and a sprained knee in his last game, Witten is on track to play against the Falcons. He's a reasonable bet to lead his team in targets, but he'll be catching passes from Brandon Weeden instead of Tony Romo (collarbone) for at least the next seven games.
Fri Sep 25 201512:12Witten (ankle) on field for Friday's practice
Witten (ankle) was on the field for Friday's practice, Brandon George of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Witten suffered several minor injuries last week and still had both his ankles taped Friday, so he is not 100 percent healthy. However, he was able to take the field Friday for the third straight day, so it's looking likely he will be able to play in Week 3 as expected.
Thu Sep 24 201516:58Witten (ankles/knee) limited in practice Thursday
Witten (ankles/knee) was limited in practice Thursday, the Cowboys' official site reports.
The Cowboys sheltered Witten from full practice reps yet again, but the tight end remains confident that he'll brush off sprained ankles and a sprained knee in order to suit up Sunday against the Falcons, according to Todd Archer of ESPN.com. If he plays his 190th consecutive game, Witten will face a defense that has given up only nine catches (on 17 targets) for 83 yards and a touchdown to opposing tight ends through two contests.

Witten (knee/ankles) participated in individual drills Wednesday, Brandon George of the Dallas Morning News reports.
Lo and behold, the hardened Witten has brushed off a sprained knee and two sprained ankles suffered Sunday in order to take part in the initial practice of the week. The development should surprise no one, as he's missed just one game in his career and made an appearance in an incredible 189 consecutive contests. As the week rolls on, he'll likely log limited showings in practice, yet he's well on his way to keeping the aforementioned stretch alive.

Witten may not see much practice time this week after suffering two sprained ankles and a sprained knee against the Eagles on Sunday, Todd Archer of ESPN Dallas reports.
Despite all the injuries Witten was still on the field for 82 of 85 offensive snaps Sunday, essentially only missing one play each time he was hurt. The 33-year-old tight end has seen a lot of miles but has also played in 189 straight games and only missed one game in his entire career (due to a broken jaw back in his rookie season), so it's tough to count him out for Week 3. With Dez Bryant (foot) already sidelined, having Witten available as a security blanket could be crucial for any success Brandon Weeden has under center while he steps in for Tony Romo (collarbone).

Witten, after suffering two sprained ankles and a sprained knee in Week 2, is "not a lock" to play this week against the Falcons, ESPN's Ed Werder reports.
Witten picked up several injuries in Sunday's victory over the Eagles, and it appears his chances of playing in Week 3 are less than 100 percent. However, none of Witten's injuries seem overly serious, so as long as he avoids any setbacks this week, fantasy owners should be optimistic about him playing against the Falcons.

Witten (ankle) suffered two sprained ankles and a sprained knee during Sunday's win over the Eagles, NFL on ESPN reports.
Witten played through the injuries, catching seven passes for 56 yards on eight targets. Even if the injuries aren't serious, Witten's value took a big hit Sunday afternoon, with Tony Romo (broken clavicle) expected to miss 8-to-10 weeks, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.

Witten had seven receptions on eight targets for 56 yards in Sunday's win at Philadelphia.
Witten appeared to get banged up at one point late in the first half, but came back into the game. The big news in Sunday's game is that Tony Romo will miss 4-to-12 weeks due to a fractured clavicle, meaning Witten will have to deal with backup QB Brandon Weeden for an extended period. Next up for the Cowboys will be the Falcons in Dallas.

Witten caught eight passes for 60 yards and two touchdowns on nine targets in Sunday's 27-26 win over the Giants.
Witten dropped a pass into a defender's hands for an interception during the first half, but he later redeemed himself by scoring the game's final two touchdowns, including a game-winning, 11-yard score with seven seconds remaining. With Dez Bryant expected to miss multiple games due to a broken foot, Witten could emerge as Tony Romo's favorite target.

Witten didn't receive a target during Saturday's preseason game against the Vikings.
The long-standing chemistry between Witten and Tony Romo doesn't need any preseason polish, so there's no reason for alarm in his lack of action. He's in the decline phase of his career, but the future Hall of Famer remains a dependable option at tight end for the Cowboys.

Witten caught 5-of-7 targets for 63 yards in Sunday's 24-20 win over the Lions.
Witten put together a solid first half, catching three passes for 41 yards, while the rest of the Dallas offense struggled. The team got things going shortly before halftime, and the targets were spread around to a few different players, with Cole Beasley's eight leading the way. Witten and the Dallas offense get a more favorable matchup next week, facing the Packers in what could be a high-scoring game.

Witten caught four passes on six targets for 49 yards in Sunday's win over Washington.
The 32-year-old tight end finished the season with his worst output since he was a rookie, catching 64 passes on 90 targets for 703 yards and five TDs, and the years appear to be catching up to him. Those are still good numbers, but well below what his fantasy owners likely paid for at the draft table, and Witten's days on being ranked among the top TEs are likely over.

Witten was targeted a team-high seven times in Sunday's 42-7 win over the Colts, finishing with seven catches for 90 yards and a touchdown.
Witten's third-quarter touchdown sprung the Cowboys to a 35-0 lead and sent many of the starters to the bench to enjoy the rest of the blowout from the sidelines. His 90 yards were a season high, so congrats if he helped spring you to to a Week 16 championship. If you're continuing on to Week 17, keep in mind that the Cowboys may be out of the running for a first-round bye depending on the result of the Sunday night game, so there is a chance that some of the starters will play limited snaps next Sunday against Washington.

Witten caught 7-of-9 targets for 69 yards in Sunday's 38-27 win over the Eagles.
Witten got off to a fast start, catching three passes for 42 yards on the Cowboys' second drive of the game. While mostly limited to short gains thereafter, he still finished with season-high marks in receptions and targets, falling one yard short of the 70 he recorded in Week 8. It was a nice showing from the veteran tight end, but he had just seven receptions for 64 yards over the previous three games. Owners should thus keep expectations in check for Week 16 against the Colts.

Witten caught 2-of-3 targets for 26 yards in Thursday's 41-28 win over the Bears.
The target Witten didn't catch hit his hands, although a poor throw by Tony Romo made it a difficult ball to haul in. 18 of Romo's 26 pass attempts went in the direction of Dez Bryant and DeMarco Murray, as the Cowboys' superstars dominated the offense to an even greater extent than usual. Witten should be more involved in the coming weeks, but he's still just the third option in an offense that's heavily reliant on its two best players.

Witten caught one pass for eight yards in Thursday's loss to the Eagles.
Witten had scored in three of four games entering Thursday's contest, but he was held out of the end zone, and almost kept off the score sheet entirely. He will look to bounce back next week against a Bears team that has been consistently beaten by opposing tight ends this season.
