Tue Sep 1 201515:58Scandrick (knee) placed on injured reserve Tuesday
Scandrick (knee) was placed on injured reserve Tuesday, Ian Rapoport reports.
With Scandrick out for the year due to a torn ACL, Morris Claiborne is expected to start outside, and Tyler Patmon is the favorite for slot duties. The injury could also lead to some extra snaps for first-round draft pick Byron Jones, who worked at both safety and cornerback during training camp.

He's out for the season, but Scandrick should recover in time for training camp in 2016.
Wed Aug 26 201500:09Orlando Scandrick: Out For Season W/ Torn ACL
Scandrick suffered a torn ACL Tuesday and will require season-ending surgery, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram's Clarence Hill reports.
This was widely anticipated after Scandrick was carted off the field during Tuesday's practice, and now the worst-case scenario has been confirmed. He was the best player in the Cowboys' secondary and now it looks like Morris Claiborne will be asked to step into the gaping hole left in Scandrick's absence.

Scandrick was carted off the field during Tuesday's practice after suffering a right knee injury, Todd Archer of ESPN Dallas reports.
Nothing has been confirmed at this point, but the Cowboys are fearing their top cornerback may have suffered a season-ending ACL tear, according to FOX Sports 1's Mike Garafolo. The scene certainly looked serious, as Scandrick was seen with tears in his eyes as he was carted off the field, while the Cowboys defensive backs gathered in a prayer circle following the injury. The team should provide a follow-up on Scandrick's condition Wednesday, but it looks like Morris Claiborne will be first in line to start if Scandrick is forced to miss extensive time.
Fri May 22 201509:53Scandrick has agreed to revised contract with Cowboys
Scandrick has agreed to a revised contract with the Cowboys, Mike Garafolo of FOX Sports reports.
Scandrick briefly skipped voluntary workouts in protest of a contract that pays him far below his market value, but he eventually decided to join his teammates in Dallas while negotiating with management. It doesn't appear that negotiations were too tenuous, and Scandrick should be back as a starter this season, even after the Cowboys drafted Byron Jones in the first round. Between Scandrick and Dez Bryant, the Cowboys have vocal leader on both sides of the ball.

Scandrick is in line to join his Dallas teammates for voluntary workouts on Monday, ESPN's Todd Archer reports.
Scandrick, who is seeking a new contract, had been staying away from the Cowboys' facility since the team's workouts began on April 20. His plans to join the team's workouts hint at progress on that front, with Archer suggesting that the cornerback could have a deal worked out by the end the coming week.
Tue May 12 201513:10Orlando Scandrick: Meeting With Cowboys
Scandrick is in Dallas to meet with the Cowboys about his contract situation, Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
Scandrick has been working out on his own in California, as he's displeased with his current contract situation. He's slated for a base salary of just $1.5 million in 2015, following a 2014 campaign in which he was the Cowboys' most reliable cornerback. Assuming an in-season holdout is avoided, Scandrick figures to enter Week 1 as a starter, even after the Cowboys drafted Byron Jones in the first round.

Scandrick -- who was not present Monday for the Cowboys' first voluntary workout this offseason -- plans to continue working out in California until the team address his contract, the Dallas Morning News reports.
Scandrick, who signed a contract extension with the team in 2013, is slated to earn a base salary of $1.5 million in 2015. It remains to be seen whether this evolves into a contentious holdout down the road, but when he is on the field, Scandrick is a key member of the Dallas secondary. Moreover, in 14 games this past season, he provided some IDP utility by notching 55 tackles, two picks, two forced fumbles and a sack.

Scandrick returned to the lineup Sunday, recording five tackles.
Mo Claiborne had one of his better games as a pro on Sunday, so the competition is on for the starting cornerback spot opposite Brandon Carr. Given how many three receiver sets the Cowboys will likely face next week against the Saints though, expect both Scandrick and Claiborne to see plenty of action regardless of who gets named the starter.

Scandrick has been reinstated from his four-game suspension after the NFL finalized a new policy regarding performance enhancing drugs on Wednesday, NFL.com reports.
Scandrick will be immediately eligible to return to practice and play this week versus the Rams. The seventh-year pro recorded a career-best 64 tackles (59 solo) and two interceptions last season and should reclaim a starting cornerback position for the Cowboys. In a corresponding move, the Cowboys will place Darrion Weem on injured reserve to make room for Scandrick on their active roster.

With the NFL revising its drug policy Tuesday night, Scandrick is expected to be immediately reinstated from his four-game suspension, ESPN's Ed Werder reports.
Assuming no last-minute snags in announcing the new policy, Scandrick could be back at practice as soon as Wednesday, with a return to action Sunday against the Rams. Scandrick would more than likely replace Morris Claiborne as one of the starting cornerbacks, giving the Cowboys' beleaguered defense a modicum of respectability.
Sat Sep 13 201417:52Scandrick (suspension) won't play Sunday against Titans
Scandrick (suspension) won't play Sunday against the Titans, the Dallas Morning News reports.
If a revised NFL drug policy is approved next week, it's expected that Scandrick would be reinstated and be eligible to play in Week 3, but he won't be on the Cowboys' active roster this weekend, with an agreement on the policy not yet finalized.

Scandrick is still in California and is not expected to play in the Cowboys upcoming game against the Titans, even if the league overturns his suspension, Clarence Hill of the Star-Telegram reports.
Scandrick is expected to be able to play as soon as the NFL agrees on a new drug testing policy, but it appears that Scandrick will not play regardless of his suspension. It seems more likely that he will not see his first NFL action of the season until week three when the team travels to St. Louis.

The league and the NFLPA have not finalized their proposed agreement regarding revision to the league's drug programs, according to NFL VP of PR Greg Aiello. As a result, Scandrick's suspension has not been officially rescinded at this time.
The two sides may ultimately finalize their agreement Saturday, but Scandrick's availability for Week 2 is uncertain as there are still details that need to be cleared up before the players impacted will be able to get on the field again.
Fri Sep 12 201419:32As result of league's new drug policy
As a result of the league's new drug policy, Scandrick is now reinstated from suspension, ESPN reports.
Scandrick is no less than Dallas' second-best cornerback, so this should result in a clear improvement for the Dallas secondary. The Cowboys defense remains likely to end the year as one of the league's worst, however.

Updating a previous report, Scandrick's suspension was a result of a violation of the NFL's drug policy.
Scandrick's suspension is said to be for PED use, but according to NFL.com's Ian Rapoport, the positive test was triggered by a recreational drug he took during a trip to Mexico. He'll miss the first four games of 2014 as a result, and is now one failed drug test away from a potential season-long ban.
Mon Aug 11 201423:03Scandrick suspended for first four weeks of 2014 season
Scandrick has been suspended for the first four weeks of the 2014 season, Rowan Kavner of DallasCowboys.com reports.
A reason for Scandrick's suspension has yet to be disclosed, but the duration was confirmed by Cowboys' owner Jerry Jones on Monday. The suspension will give Morris Claiborne a clearer path to a starting cornerback job to begin the season.
Sat Apr 19 201410:01Scandrick favorite to start of Claiborne
ESPNDallas' Todd Archer believes CB Orlando Scandrick is the favorite to start over former first-round CB Morris Claiborne.
Claiborne will have to improve dramatically to escape the bust tag hovering over him. Claiborne has started just 22 games and been disastrous in coverage since being selected at pick six in 2012. Scandrick played well after taking the job last season, so Claiborne will need a big training camp to move up the depth chart.

Mon Mar 11 201313:57Cowboys rework Scandrick's contract
The Cowboys have restructured CB Orlando Scandrick's contract in order to save some space under the salary cap.
Scandrick only had a $2 million base salary, but Dallas is desperate for any room it can come up with. The Cowboys' slot corner between Morris Claiborne and Brandon Carr, Scandrick graded out as Pro Football Focus' No. 43-ranked cornerback in pass coverage last season. He'll return in the same role in 2013.
