Wed May 812:52Emmet Sheehan Progressing Well
Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Emmet Sheehan (forearm) hasn't thrown off a mound yet, but he's progressing well and has been ramping up the intensity of his long-toss program. Sheehan has been throwing after being shut down in the middle of April due to a right-forearm injury that he suffered in mid-March in spring training. The 24-year-old will be eligible to return from the 60-day injured list on May 18, but that's probably not going to happen given the fact that he has yet to pitch all season to this point. But if Sheehan can avoid any setbacks from here on out, he should be able to rejoin the Dodgers' big-league roster before the All-Star break. He debuted in the majors in 2023 and went 4-1 with a 4.92 ERA and 1.19 WHIP with 26 walks and 64 strikeouts in 60 1/3 innings over 13 appearances (11 starts).

Mon Apr 1509:29Emmet Sheehan Shut Down Again
Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Emmet Sheehan (forearm) has been shut down from throwing again, according to manager Dave Roberts. The 24-year-old's injury isn't responding the way the team hoped it would as Roberts said it's "a longer term situation". Of course, that is grim news for the right-hander as long-term forearm issues never pan out properly for the player. Sheehan has yet to appear in a game this season after he worked to a 4.92 ERA across 13 appearances (11 starts) and 60 1/3 innings with the Dodgers last season. He struck out a solid 25.8% of the batters he faced in that time but the massive strikeout rates he put forth in the minors firmly put him on the fantasy radar in 2024. It doesn't appear he will be available to fantasy managers any time soon.

Wed Mar 2008:54Emmet Sheehan Placed On Injured List
Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Emmet Sheehan (forearm) has been placed on the 15-day injured list with right forearm inflammation. Sheehan was an option for the starting rotation entering the spring, but was beat out by Gavin Stone. Forearm injuries are always concerning, but there hasn't been a clear timeline on when the Dodgers expect the 24-year-old to return. For now, Sheehan remains best served in dynasty leagues, however, managers should monitor his situation when more updates become available.

Sat Mar 913:09Emmet Sheehan To Begin Season On Injured List
Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Emmet Sheehan is going to begin the season on the injured list, according to manager Dave Roberts. Sheehan has been dealing with general soreness this spring and seemingly will not begin the season in the Dodgers' rotation. The 24-year-old got into 13 games with the Dodgers in the 2023 season, working to a 4.92 ERA across 60 1/3 innings of work. However, he also dominated to the tune of a 1.86 ERA across 12 appearances (10 starts) at the Double-A level, punching out a hefty 41.7% of the hitters he faced during that time. With Walker Buehler still sidelined following Tommy John surgery and Clayton Kershaw out until mid-season due to shoulder surgery, it looks like Gavin Stone is the top pivot for fantasy managers when it comes to the Dodgers' rotation.

Thu Feb 2919:15Emmet Sheehan Should Be Ready By Late March
Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said that right-hander Emmet Sheehan should be starting to throw around plyo balls soon at camp. There's a chance that he's not ready to go for the two-game series against the San Diego Padres in Korea on March 20-21, but Sheehan shouldn't be behind schedule for domestic Opening Day on March 28 in Los Angeles. The 24-year-old is dealing with general soreness at spring training and is a bit behind, but he should be part of the team's Opening Day starting rotation with Walker Buehler (elbow) still recovering from Tommy John surgery. Sheehan went 4-1 with a 4.92 ERA and 1.19 WHIP with 26 walks and 64 K's in his first 13 MLB games (11 starts) last year. He has an electric fastball but struggled to keep the ball in the yard. There's clear upside here, especially in LA, but Sheehan may need a bit more development.
