Peterson signed a minor league contract with the Mets on Friday, Chris Cotillo of SB Nation reports.
Peterson struggled in his time with the Twins' Triple-A Rochester affiliate, posting a measly .186/.289/.351 slash line in 29 games to start the season (114 PA). The 31-year-old has spent parts of seven seasons in Triple-A for various clubs including the Twins, Cardinals, Nationals and Dodgers. While his role within the Mets' organization remains unclear, he will probably serve merely as minor league depth.
