Peterson signed a minor league contract with the Mets on Friday, Chris Cotillo of SB Nation reports.

Peterson struggled in his time with the Twins' Triple-A Rochester affiliate, posting a measly .186/.289/.351 slash line in 29 games to start the season (114 PA). The 31-year-old has spent parts of seven seasons in Triple-A for various clubs including the Twins, Cardinals, Nationals and Dodgers. While his role within the Mets' organization remains unclear, he will probably serve merely as minor league depth.

We're not sure if there's any truth to the rumor that the Dodgers acquired him simply to have a Brock Peterson and a Joc Pederson on the same team. This Peterson is 30, so don't get overly excited about the video game numbers.
