Terry Pluto of Cleveland Plain-Dealer and Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reported earlier that the Tribe had interest in the veteran outfielder, and it sounds like something could get done soon. Cameron, who turns 39 in January, batted just .203/.285/.359 with nine homers and 27 RBI over 269 plate appearances this past season, but he would fit the Indians' need for a right-handed hitting outfielder.

While he was released by the Marlins in September after his involvement in a verbal altercation with a flight attendant on a team charter flight, the veteran outfielder has a solid reputation as a teammate. The Nationals are also looking at Willie Harris, Mark DeRosa and Greg Dobbs for their bench.

The altercation did not turn physical, but the charter company filed a complaint. Mike Cameron is considering retiring after the 2011 season.
Cameron is struggling with injury and a poor 2011 season so he might just be frustrated with his current situation. However Cameron has not shown the same pop or glove work that made him a successful center fielder. The 37-year old veteran will have played 17 major league seasons and collected three gold gloves if he calls it quits after the 2011 season.

Bryan Petersen moved over to replace him in center field to begin the 12th while Vinny Rottino entered the game to play right. Cameron is considered day-to-day.

Mike Cameron left Florida's Friday evening game against the Cardinals in the sixth inning with a wrist injury.
Cameron rolled over on his wrist in the outfield, but stayed in the game for several innings before departing. Although he's unlikely to be in the lineup on Saturday, it's doubtful the injury is all that serious if he was able to play through it. His status should be updated later this evening.
