Waldrop began the season on the disabled list with a right elbow strain. The Twins haven't said how many rehab outings he'll need, but he should certainly be ready before the end of the month if he doesn't have any setbacks. He's not lock to be added to the major league roster, though.

Waldrop played catch from 120 feet Thursday without feeling any lingering pain or discomfort in his right elbow. "Everything is moving in the right direction," he told reporters after the workout. "So we'll take it a day at a time, but it's going well so far." The right-hander should be ready by early May.

The 2004 first-round pick went 5-5 with a 3.87 ERA in 56 relief appearances in the minors this year. He has a 3.63 career ERA and 1.28 WHIP over seven minor league seasons in the Twins organization. It's been several years since he was viewed as one of the Twins' top pitching prospects, but Waldrop has the next three weeks to show that he deserves a look in spring training next year.
