Thu May 201:00Drew Romo Pacing PCL In Batting Average
Colorado Rockies catching prospect Drew Romo leads the Pacific Coast League in batting average after a 4-for-4 day at the plate Wednesday for Triple-A Albuquerque. The 22-year-old raised his BA to a robust .372 with the performance, which also included his first two steals of the season. The 35th overall pick in 2020 doesn't have a path to playing time in Colorado at the moment with Elias Diaz and Jacob Stallings holding down the catching duties for now, but things could open up in a hurry with an injury or trade. Also, with the Rockies not looking like a competitive club just one month into the season it would make sense to get some of the younger talent some looks at major league pitching. They already recently called up Hunter Goodman and Jordan Beck, so it seems like Romo could get his chance by summertime if he continues to rake, or at least soon thereafter.

Tue Apr 3013:28Drew Rom Moved To 60-Day Injured List
The St. Louis Cardinals moved starting pitcher Drew Rom (biceps) to the 60-day injured list on Tuesday to make room for pitcher Kyle Leahy as the 27th man for Tuesday's doubleheader against the Detroit Tigers. Rom is dealing with a left-biceps injury and is scheduled to visit with Dr. Keith Meister in Dallas on Tuesday. Now that the 24-year-old left-hander is on the 60-day injured list, he won't be eligible to return to the Cardinals' bullpen until at least late May. The former fourth-round selection by the Baltimore Orioles in 2018 went 1-4 in his big-league debut in St. Louis last year and had a rough 8.02 ERA (5.75 FIP) and 2.08 WHIP with 19 walks and 32 strikeouts in 33 2/3 innings over his eight starts. Rom showed plenty of strikeout potential in the minors, but his control has also been lacking.

Mon Aug 21 202302:46Drew Rom Starting For Cardinals On Monday
St. Louis Cardinals prospect Drew Rom is being called up by the St. Louis Cardinals to start Monday's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates according to manager Oliver Marmol. The main return of the Cards' deal with the Orioles for Jack Flaherty, Rom has thrown to a mediocre 4.82 ERA and 1.57 WHIP with a 118:50 K:BB ratio over 97 IP in Triple-A this year. To be effective in the majors, the 23-year-old will need to show much-improved control. For now, he can be left on the waiver wire, but keep an eye on his starts.
