Wed Apr 1014:50Chase Silseth Has No Ligament Damage
An MRI on Los Angeles Angels right-hander Chase Silseth's right elbow has revealed inflammation but no ligament damage. The 23-year-old said he received a second opinion, but the doctors agreed on only inflammation, and he hopes to return to action in three weeks. It's certainly big news for everyone involved given the rash of elbow injuries across the league early in the 2024 season, while Silseth has seemingly avoided disaster after a solid debut season in 2023. Silseth had a 3.96 ERA across 16 outings (eight starts) with the Halos a season ago while also working to an impressive 2.96 ERA 11 starts with Triple-A Salt Lake. The youngster is worth a short-term injury stash in deeper leagues.

Mon Apr 819:55Angels Place Chase Silseth On 15-Day Injured List
The Los Angeles Angels placed right-handers Chase Silseth (elbow) and Guillo Zuniga (pectoral) on the 15-day injured list on Monday and selected the contracts of right-handers Carson Fulmer and Hunter Strickland from the minors in corresponding moves. The club also designated infielder Livan Soto and right-hander Zach Plesac for assignment. Silseth is dealing with right-elbow inflammation, which could be part of the reason why he allowed six runs on eight hits while walking four and striking out 12 over eight innings in his first two starts of the year. With the 23-year-old out for at least the next two weeks, right-hander Jose Soriano will jump into the Halos' starting rotation and will make his first start of 2024 in a shy-away matchup on Wednesday against the Tampa Bay Rays. Soriano should only be added in AL-only leagues for pitching depth.

Wed Mar 2709:19Chase Silseth Ends Spring On High Note
Los Angeles Angels starting pitcher Chase Silseth dominated his final start of the Cactus League on Tuesday versus the Los Angeles Dodgers. Silseth went five innings and allowed just two hits with two runs, no walks and 10 strikeouts. It was a very impressive outing for the 23-year-old against one of the top offenses in the league. For the spring, Silseth finishes with a 2.03 ERA and 15 strikeouts in 13 1/3 innings. Silseth split time between the bullpen and rotation in limited time last year with eight starts in 16 games and had a respectable 3.96 ERA. Silseth will look to build off his spring success and makes for a fine dart throw in deeper leagues.

Wed Sep 27 202312:27Chase Silseth Scheduled To Start On Friday
Los Angeles Angels right-hander Chase Silseth (concussion) was at Angel Stadium on Monday and is scheduled to return from the seven-day injured list to start on Friday, Sept. 29, against the Oakland Athletics. Silseth was hit on the head with an errant throw on Aug. 26 and had a 30-pitch minor-league rehab outing with Triple-A Salt Lake on Sept. 17, giving up two runs on three hits with two walks in one-third of an inning. He made a second rehab start on Sept. 22 and is now ready to rejoin the starting rotation for one last start in 2023. The 23-year-old will have an excellent matchup in his final appearance of the year, but he also might not be able to go very deep in the start, making him a pretty shaky streamer for those still in competition for a fantasy trophy.

Sat Sep 23 202312:10Chase Silseth Walks Four In Rehab Outing
Los Angeles Angels right-hander Chase Silseth (concussion) made his second minor-league rehab start on Friday for Triple-A Salt Lake and allowed no earned runs on two hits while walking four and striking out four in 3 1/3 innings of work. Silseth was hit on the head by an errant throw on Aug. 26 before landing on the seven-day concussion injured list. His first rehab outing saw him throw 30 pitches for Salt Lake on Sept. 17, giving up two runs on three hits while walking two in just one-third of an inning. If he bounces back well after his start on Friday, he could make one more start for the Angels in the big leagues before the season is over. The 23-year-old has a 4.10 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 53 strikeouts in 15 outings (seven starts) for the Angels in 2023.

Tue Sep 5 202323:04Chase Silseth Still Working Through Discomfort
Los Angeles Angels manager Phil Nevin said that right-hander Chase Silseth (concussion) is still working through discomfort as he tries to return from a concussion. Silseth was hit in the head by an errant infield throw on Aug. 26 but avoided a serious injury. "He's good. Every once in a while, he'll feel a little something when he's throwing and he gets really built up," Nevin said. "But that's diminishing each day, which is comforting to us." The 23-year-old was hospitalized after the injury but was initially cleared for a concussion. With time running out in the 2023 regular season and the Angels now out of the playoff picture, it's very possible that Silseth won't pitch again this year.

Tue Aug 29 202314:01Chase Silseth Lands On Seven-Day Injured List
The Los Angeles Angels placed right-hander Chase Silseth (head) on the seven-day concussion injured list (retroactive to Aug. 27) on Tuesday and recalled left-hander Kenny Rosenberg from Triple-A Salt Lake in a corresponding move. Silseth took an errant throw to the head during his start on Saturday against the New York Mets. The 23-year-old had to be hospitalized but has since been released and was cleared for a concussion. He avoided a serious injury and should be ready to return to the team's starting rotation when he's eligible to be activated. Until he's able to return, the Halos will likely roll with a five-man rotation. Silseth has gone 4-1 on the year with a 4.10 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 53 strikeouts in 48 1/3 innings over 15 appearances (seven starts).

Mon Aug 28 202312:23Chase Silseth Released From Hospital
Los Angeles Angels right-hander Chase Silseth (head), who was hit in the head by an errant throw on Saturday against the New York Mets, was evaluated at a local hospital in New York and was later released. He hasn't been placed on the injured list, but the Angels will continue to be cautious with him, as he's dealing with swelling and a headache. "He's got a pretty good lump on his noggin and a headache, but everything checked out well last night," manager Phil Nevin said. The 23-year-old had been pitching well since rejoining the starting rotation in mid-July, posting a 3.34 ERA in six starts with 38 strikeouts in 29 2/3 innings. He had tossed 3 1/3 scoreless innings against the Mets before a runner scored on the play in which he was hit in the head. If Silseth ends up missing time, the Angels could shift to a five-man rotation of Lucas Giolito, Patrick Sandoval, Reid Detmers, Tyler Anderson and Griffin Canning.

The right-hander owns a 4.10 ERA, 1.28 WHIP, and 53 strikeouts over 48 1/3 innings in 2023. Silseth will most likely undergo concussion testing and is considered day-to-day.

Sun Aug 6 202319:41Chase Silseth Strikes Out 12 Batters
Los Angeles Angels starting pitcher Chase Silseth looked nearly unhittable during Sunday's game against the Seattle Mariners. The right-hander gave up a leadoff home run to J.P. Crawford in the first inning. After that, Silseth only made one more mistake to Teoscar Hernandez in the seventh inning. The right-hander finished with a career-high 12 strikeouts over seven innings of work on Sunday. He was handed a no-decision in what ended up being a loss for the Angels. He'll carry a 3.72 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and a 41/16 K/BB ratio into his next outing versus the Houston Astros.

Sat Jul 29 202318:48Chase Silseth Removed From Starting Rotation
Los Angeles Angels pitcher Chase Silseth has been removed from the team's starting rotation. The Halos have decided to shake up their starting rotation with the addition of Lucas Giolito. The Angels will go with Griffin Canning, Patrick Sandoval, Lucas Giolito and Shohei Ohtani for their upcoming series next week. They will have Reid Detmers and Chase Anderson close out the weekend series on the mound. Silseth holds a 4.44 ERA, 1.48 WHIP, with 25/15 K/BB over two starts with the Angels. The assumption is that he'll get another look in the rotation at some point. Until then, Silseth is unlikely to have fantasy value in the bullpen.

Wed Jul 19 202316:03Chase Silseth Called Up To Start Wednesday
Los Angeles Angels right-hander Chase Silseth has been called up from Triple-A Salt Lake to make the start on Wednesday against the visiting New York Yankees. The outing will be Silseth's 10 appearance and only second start in his second year in the big leagues for the Angels. There's nothing in his profile that suggests using him as a deep-sleeper streaming option against the Yankees on Wednesday. The 23-year-old has allowed 14 runs (11 earned) on 17 hits (three homers) while walking 13 and striking out 15 in 18 2/3 innings over his nine appearances (one start), and he wasn't any better in the minor leagues. Silseth has a 6.08 ERA (5.93 FIP) with a 1.58 WHIP, 25 walks and 39 K's in 47 1/3 big-league innings.

Wed Jul 19 202308:26Chase Silseth Starting Wednesday's Contest
Los Angeles Angels right-hander Chase Silseth is getting the ball for Wednesday's start to face Carlos Rodon and the New York Yankees, according to Jeff Fletcher of the SoCal News Group. The 23-year-old has made nine appearances for the Major League team in 2023, posting a 5.30 ERA, 1.61 WHIP, 17.9% strikeout rate, and 15.5% walk rate. In his lone start this season, Silseth only lasted 3 1/3 innings while giving up four runs. He has some potential considering his 2.79 ERA and 26.8% strikeout rate in Triple-A this year, but fantasy managers in redraft leagues should avoid the former 11th-round draft pick.

Tue May 9 202301:35Chase Silseth Likely To Enter Rotation
Los Angeles Angels manager Phil Nevin said that right-hander Chase Silseth makes the most sense to get a start the next time the team needs six starters because he's the most stretched out and was starting games in Triple-A just a few weeks ago. It has been over a month since pitcher Tucker Davidson last made a start. Silseth has made four appearances for the Halos out of the bullpen this year, allowing six runs (three earned) on five hits while walking five and striking out five in 8 1/3 innings. In four starts at Salt Lake in the minors, he had a tidy 0.90 ERA, 0.90 WHIP, eight walks and 20 strikeouts in 20 innings pitched. The 22-year-old was worth looking at in deep holds leagues, but now he could be worth considering as a deep-league streamer in the right matchup.

Fri Apr 28 202320:57Chase Silseth In Relief Role For The Angels
Los Angeles Angels pitching prospect Chase Silseth was called up from Triple-A Salt Lake ahead of Wednesday's game against the Oakland A's. He came out of the bullpen, allowing no hits and two walks while striking out two over two scoreless innings. The 22-year-old is currently in a relief role but could be a candidate to start later in the season. Silseth was off to a blazing start in Triple-A Salt Lake. He owned a (2-0) record with a 0.90 ERA, 0.90 WHIP, and 20 strikeouts across 20 innings in 2023. With his upside, fantasy managers should continue to stash Silseth in all league formats, as he could eventually secure a role in the Angels' rotation.

Mon Apr 10 202322:17Chase Silseth Continues To Impress In 2023
Los Angeles Angels pitching prospect Chase Silseth, a 2021 11th-round pick who is considered one of the top pitching prospects in the organization, is coming off a big week at Triple-A. Silseth has shown incredible strikeout stuff since being drafted but has still struggled to keep opponents off the bases, especially at the major league level in 2022 when he posted a 1.57 WHIP. Scouts and analysts rave about Silseth's upper-90s fastball, which pairs quite well with his effective slider, deceptive changeup, and a really strong splitter. His offerings could truly become top-notch if he continues to pitch with high velocity and break while simultaneously working to improve his command. Silseth has looked great this season, but the better of his two outings came last Friday when he allowed just one hit and two walks over six scoreless innings. The right-hander also struck out seven batters and earned the win while continuing to demonstrate why he's a candidate for a mid-season promotion to the majors.

Thu Apr 6 202309:56Chase Silseth Scheduled To Start Friday Vs. Albuquerque
Los Angeles Angels pitcher Chase Silseth (1-0) is set to face the Albuquerque Isotopes in Friday's game. Silseth was sent down to Triple-A Salt Lake on March 31. He was the Opening Day starter for Salt Lake and was impressive in his season debut. The 22-year-old struck out six over five scoreless innings. Last year, he struggled in the majors, owning a 6.59 ERA, 1.57 WHIP, and a 24:12 K: BB across 28 2/3 frames. Silseth is the Angels' No. 4 prospect, and a pitcher fantasy managers should stash in deep-league and dynasty formats. Silseth will look to build on his Opening Day success in Friday's start versus the Isotopes.

Mon Sep 5 202216:25Chase Silseth Contributes To Combined No-Hitter
Los Angeles Angels starting pitching prospect Chase Silseth was one of 20 pitchers taken in the club's wild 2021 draft. The right-hander pitched just 5.1 innings in the minors last season but still earned a spot on the big-league roster this year. He has made seven starts in the majors and 13 at Double-A to this point. The 22-year-old has a well-rounded four-pitch mix featuring a mid-90s fastball, as well as a curveball, slider, and changeup. None of his pitches are truly elite, but they work off each other well and allow him to keep hitters guessing. Silseth tossed a gem this past week, allowing just one walk, zero hits, and zero runs during his outing on Saturday. He struck out a whopping 10 batters in the process, earning his second consecutive win and contributing to the first no-hitter in Rocket City Trash Pandas history.

Thu Jul 28 202222:13Chase Silseth To Start Saturday Against Texas
Los Angeles Angels pitcher Chase Silseth will start Saturday's game against the Texas Rangers. He is expected to be recalled from Double-A Rocket City ahead of Saturday's contest. Reid Detmers' start will be moved to Sunday, giving him an extra day of rest. Noah Syndergaard will be moved to Tuesday, which is after the Aug. 2 trade deadline. Silseth owns a 1-3 record with 5.84 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 19 strikeouts across 24 2/3 innings in two major league starts this season. Fantasy managers might want to see how Silseth pitches on Sunday before using him as a streamer or adding him to their rosters.
