Crain (biceps) suffered a setback in his rehab and has been shut down for the time being, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.
The nature of the setback is unknown, but the White Sox will temporarily pull Crain from his rehab in hopes of avoiding further damage. Crain has not pitched in a major league game since June of 2013 as the biceps injury has lingered after he underwent surgery in the spring 2014.

Crain (biceps) has made three appearances for the White Sox's rookie-level club, recording five strikeouts in 2.1 innings, MLB.com's Scott Merkin reports.
It's the first competitive game action for Crain since July 2013, when an All-Star season was interrupted by a biceps injury that ultimately required surgery last spring. He's battled a long road back to recovery, but finally seems to be coming around of late, though it's still likely that he's several weeks away from contributing for the White Sox. The team signed him on a minor-league deal this offseason, so expectations aren't likely high for Crain.

Crain (biceps) threw a simulated game Tuesday and is scheduled to throw another Friday, the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Crain had an outside chance of cracking the White Sox's Opening Day roster, but his rehab continues to take much longer than expected. He has not taken to a big league mound since June 29, 2013, when he last played for the White Sox. When healthy, there is room for him in the bullpen.
Wed Apr 1 201514:01Crain (biceps) reassigned to minor league camp Wednesday
Crain (biceps) was reassigned to minor league camp Wednesday, Doug Padilla of ESPN Chicago reports.
It shouldn't come as a surprise the White Sox made the move, as Crain is expected to stay in Arizona for extended spring training. It's unclear what role he will have following that, but he could have a shot at pitching in the Sox's bullpen at some point this season.

Crain (biceps) will remain at extended spring training when the White Sox break camp Thursday, ESPN Chicago reports.
Crain has yet to throw a bullpen session, but he may be nearing one. Once he does, there will be several more steps before the White Sox can decide whether to add him to the major league bullpen. Crain has yet to pitch since he played for the Sox in '13, but he could be an important part of the bullpen later in the season if healthy and effective.

Crain (biceps) was limited to playing catch Friday, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Crain was scratched from his start Wednesday due to soreness, and he was initially scheduled to pitch Friday. However, that soreness is persisting, so he continues to have a very limited workload. The White Sox will shut Crain down over the next few days in hopes of avoiding further injury.

Crain (biceps) was scratched from his start Wednesday due to mild soreness, but expects to pitch Friday, Daryl Van Shouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Crain would benefit greatly from some audition time in major league games, as he entered camp without a guaranteed roster spot. He should rejoin the big league club later next week, but would need to impress over a short span to break camp with the team.
Tue Mar 17 201516:30Crain (biceps) schedule to pitch in minor league game Wednesday
Crain (biceps) is schedule to pitch in a minor league game Wednesday, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Crain should have time to get into a major league game before the end of spring training, but he's no lock to make the Opening Day, even if he's ready from a health perspective. He's working on a minor league contract, and while he should contribute to the White Sox at some point this season, the team may want him to start off with Triple-A Charlotte.
Fri Mar 13 201508:09Crain (biceps) could pitch in game soon
Crain (biceps) could pitch in a game soon, CSN Chicago reports.
Crain threw his second live BP of the week Thursday, and he said he is feeling good. He should have one more similar session, either this weekend or early next week, before pitching in exhibition action. If healthy, he is a decent shot for an MLB bullpen spot.
Mon Mar 9 201515:45Crain (biceps) threw 30 pitches in live batting practice Monday
Crain (biceps) threw 30 pitches in a live batting practice Monday, and will throw again later in the week, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.
There's still no exact timetable for a return, but Crain appears to be progressing well and is getting closer to being ready for game action. If he is able to return soon, Crain should be able to earn a spot in the big league club's bullpen.

Crain (biceps) will throw his third bullpen session of the week Friday, and he could throw live batting practice next week, the White Sox's official site reports.
There is still no timetable for Crain's return to health after missing all of the 2014 season, but the club appears to be happy with his progress thus far and he is optimistic about pitching in a Cactus League game. If healthy, Crain could occupy a mid-inning short-relief role in the big leauge bullpen.
Mon Feb 23 201507:39Crain (biceps) threw about 20 pitches in bullpen session Friday
Crain (biceps) threw about 20 pitches in a bullpen session Friday, and another 25-30 pitches in a second session Sunday, the Chicago Tribune reports.
The White Sox don't want to rush Crain, who missed all of 2014 with the biceps injury, but he appears to be making good progress in his rehab process. He did not throw on one-day's worth of reset all of last season, so it is a positive sign that he was able to so early in camp. If healthy, Crain should crack the White Sox's bullpen, and he could take on a top righty slot.

Crain (biceps) agreed to a minor league contract with the White Sox on Thursday that includes an invite to spring training, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.
2014 was a lost season for Crain, as several setbacks in his recovery from biceps surgery prevented him from taking the hill at any point for the Astros. He will return to the White Sox, with whom he spent the 2011-13 campaigns, but the team will take it slow with him in hopes of avoiding any further complications. According to Dan Hayes of CSNChicago.com, Crain is currently throwing from 120 feet.

Crain (biceps) is unlikely to return to the Astros during the final week of the season, Evan Drellich of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Crain threw a simulated game Monday and looks to be nearly fully recovered from the biceps strain that has bothered him for the last year and a half, but he'll run out of time to contribute for the Astros. The right-hander was viewed as a potential closing option for the Astros heading into the season, but the long recovery process he faced effectively took him out of the running. He's set to become a free agent after the season and could have to settle for a cheap contract after having not pitched in a MLB game since July 2013.

Crain is now recovered from the right biceps surgery he had last October, but he's still working on strengthening his shoulder. The Astros signed the veteran reliever for $3.25 million over the winter, but he's no lock to pitch in the majors this year.

Tue Jun 24 201421:44Jesse Crain (shoulder) out indefinitely
Astros general manager Jeff Luhnow said Tuesday that Jesse Crain (shoulder) remains without a timetable.
Crain began the season on the disabled list while recovering from biceps surgery, but he's had a couple setbacks with his shoulder and that's the bigger issue at this point. "Still working on the strengthening and recovering from weakness in his scap (right scapula muscle)," Luhnow said. "I don't have a timeframe. . I think right now since we're in the middle of June you would have to assume that him coming back in June is probably not going to happen."

Tue Jun 10 201409:33Crain (shoulder) might throw to hitters soon
Jesse Crain (biceps, shoulder) might throw to hitters this week.
Crain's rehab was slowed down back in April after he developed bursitis in his shoulder, but he has been throwing for about a month now. The hope is that he could finally be ready to join the Astros' bullpen in late June, but he obviously still has some hurdles to cross.

Fri May 2 201414:35Astros hope to have Jesse Crain on May 29
Astros general manager Jeff Luhnow said Friday that the club is hoping to get Jesse Crain (biceps) back from the disabled list when first eligible on May 29.
Crain was moved to the 60-day DL Friday in order to clear 40-man roster space. The reliever is coming back from biceps surgery and recently had a setback when he developed bursitis in his right elbow. He's already throwing again, but the Astros wanted to give Crain a few more weeks to get ready. He could eventually take over the team's closer job.
