Fri Apr 2608:15Edouard Julien Collects Two Hits
Minnesota Twins infielder Edouard Julien is off to a shaky start at the plate, but he has turned it around recently. On Thursday, Julien went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in the win over the Chicago White Sox. His slash line is at an ugly .213/.308/.513, but Julien does have seven home runs and nine RBI this season. The Twins are banged up right now, so expect Julien to continue playing everyday. His pop alone makes him worth snagging off the waiver wire.

Mon Apr 1515:16Edouard Julien In Lineup Against Lefty
Minnesota Twins second baseman Edouardo Julien is staying at second base and batting ninth on Monday against left-hander Cole Irvin and the Baltimore Orioles. This will be the second straight time that Julien has stayed in Minnesota's starting lineup with the team facing a southpaw. It will be a boost for Julien's fantasy stock if he continues to play every day, although his move from the leadoff spot to the nine-hole will make him a bat to fade in DFS lineups. The Canadian infielder does have four home runs in his first 14 games of 2024, but he's also gone just 9-for-46 (.196) with five RBI, a stolen base and seven runs scored in 52 trips to the plate. Julien has never faced Irvin in his career.

Wed Apr 1018:33Edouard Julien Homers Twice In Win
Minnesota Twins second baseman Edouard Julien put together a strong performance versus the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday. Julien blasted a leadoff home run to kick off the bottom of the first inning. He later homered again in the fifth inning to give the Twins a 3-2 lead. The score would hold as Julien provided most of the offense in this victory. Outside of this performance Julian has struggled this season, so hopefully this game will help him get back on track.

Mon Apr 819:08Edouard Julien, Alex Kirilloff, Max Kepler Sitting Monday
Minnesota Twins second baseman Edouard Julien, first baseman Alex Kirilloff and outfielder Max Kepler are all sitting on Monday against the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers and left-hander James Paxton. Kyle Farmer is starting at second base and batting sixth, Ryan Jeffers is the designated hitter and batting third, and Manuel Margot is in right field and hitting leadoff against Paxton. Farmer, Jeffers and Margot have a combined four career at-bats against Paxton. Both Margot and Jeffers will be DFS sleeper options against Paxton on this one. The 26-year-old Kirilloff has been on the bench in both of the games that the Twins have faced a left-handed hurler this year.

Sat Mar 3014:57Edouard Julien Making First Start Of Season Saturday
Minnesota Twins second baseman Edouard Julien is getting his first start of the 2024 season on Saturday against Kansas City Royals right-hander Seth Lugo. Julien started Thursday's Opening Day contest on the bench against the left-handed Cole Ragans but went 1-for-2 with a walk after infielder Royce Lewis departed with an oblique injury. The 24-year-old enjoyed a big rookie season that saw him hit .263 with 16 home runs, 60 runs, three stolen bases, and an .840 OPS across 109 games and 408 trips to the plate. He should see more playing time in the 2024 season as the everyday second baseman against right-handed pitching as he spent time to begin last season in the minors. That won't be the case in 2024 as he is a premium option for fantasy managers at the second-base position.

Thu Mar 2814:14Edouard Julien Riding Pine On Opening Day
Minnesota Twins second baseman Edouard Julien will have to wait to make his 2024 debut as Kyle Farmer will man second base. The left-handed bat looks to be on the strong side of a platoon role for now as the Twins are facing southpaw Cole Ragans today. However, with the talent that Julien flashed last season, he may be able to play himself out of it as the season progresses.

Sat Mar 915:51Twins Not Concerned About Edouard Julien's Wrist
Minnesota Twins second baseman Edouard Julien (wrist) left the visitors' clubhouse at LECOM Park with his right wrist wrapped up after being hit by a pitch in the first inning of Friday's spring training loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates, but the team has no initial concerns about his health. Twins manager Rocco Baldelli and a team trainer went to first base to check on Julien but left him in the game. Once back in the dugout, Julien was replaced in the field by Michael Helman in the bottom of the frame. Julien's ability to stay in the contest echoes the club's sentiment that the Canadian infielder's setback is of minimal concern. Following the offseason trade of Jorge Polanco, Julien is locked into Minnesota's everyday role at the keystone and is slashing a robust .421/.476/.789 over 21 plate appearances this spring. Don't let this recent injury influence the 24-year-old's 217.9 Yahoo ADP in fantasy drafts.

Wed Mar 617:35Edouard Julien Plays Long Ball Wednesday
Minnesota Twins second baseman Edouard Julien launched his second home run of the spring during Wednesday's 7-1 triumph over the Boston Red Sox. The 24-year-old launched a three-run homer off of Red Sox righty Cooper Criswell in the bottom of the third inning that ended the latter's afternoon. The long ball continued a hot start for the infielder as he's up to a .421 average (8-for-19) with the two homers along with a double and a walk across 20 plate appearances, good for a big-time 1.239 OPS. Julien also enjoyed a big spring for the Twins last season and he'll once again hope to parlay this one into success after he broke out with a .263 average alongside 16 home runs, three stolen bases, and an .840 OPS in his rookie season. He is an excellent middle-infield option in the 2024 campaign.

Sun Oct 8 202316:53Edouard Julien On The Bench Sunday
Minnesota Twins second baseman Edouard Julien will take a seat Sunday night against Houston Astros starting pitcher Framber Valdez. With Julien on the bench, Jorge Polanco will move over to second base while Kyle Farmer jumps in the lineup and will play third base. Julien had a .196/.229/.217 slash line against left-handers this season so it's not a surprise to see him on the bench Sunday. The rookie was a productive hitter and did damage against righties. He will be a big piece of the Minnesota offense next season and a popular fantasy name as well.

Wed Aug 16 202312:20Edouard Julien Returns Against Tigers
Minnesota Twins rookie second baseman Edouard Julien (hamstring) has returned to the keystone and is batting leadoff for the Twins on Wednesday against the visiting Detroit Tigers and right-hander Reese Olson. Julien missed just one game on Tuesday due to a mild hamstring issue, but he's back in action on Wednesday. The 24-year-old Canadian infielder has impressed so far in his first MLB season, hitting .281/.378/.479 with an .857 OPS, 10 home runs, 11 doubles, a triple, 18 RBI, three stolen bases and 37 runs scored in 255 trips to the plate over 70 games played. Julien has plenty of value in mixed leagues hitting atop Minnesota's batting order, but he's also gone just 7-for-36 (.194) with no homers or RBI, a stolen base and seven runs scored in 12 games (10 starts) so far in August.

Tue Aug 15 202318:44Edouard Julien Out On Tuesday
Minnesota Twins second baseman Edouard Julien (hamstring) is out of the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Detroit Tigers. It appears the 24-year-old is dealing with a hamstring issue, so the Twins will hold him out of the lineup. It's also worth noting that Julien is in a 1-for-16 slump, which could be part of the reason he's out of the lineup as well. Jorge Polanco bat leadoff and shift over to second base versus right-hander Alex Faedo on Tuesday. Fantasy managers should check back for another update on Julien.

Wed Aug 9 202314:07Edouard Julien Re-Enters Starting Lineup Wednesday
Minnesota Twins second baseman Edouard Julien will return to the starting lineup Wednesday night versus Detroit Tigers right-hander Alex Faedo. Manager Rocco Baldelli rolled out his right-handed bats against left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez on Tuesday but the lefties, including Julien, get back in action against the right-hander on Wednesday. Of course, Julien has been marvelous for the Twins this season, hitting .297 with 10 home runs, three stolen bases, and an .897 OPS across 65 appearances. His 30.5% K% is of some concern but he has mitigated the punchouts with a healthy 12.3% BB% rate, an impressive number for a youngster. He has a nice matchup on his hands Wednesday as Faedo sports a 5.80 ERA in 12 starts on the season.

Mon Jul 17 202318:44Edouard Julien Back In The Lineup Monday
Minnesota Twins second baseman Edouard Julien is back in the starting lineup for Monday night's series opener against the Seattle Mariners and right-hander Logan Gilbert. Julien was on the bench to start Sunday's series finale against the Oakland A's with left-hander JP Sears on the mound but will get back into the starting lineup against a righty on Monday. The 24-year-old has been hot at the dish, collecting seven hits, including three doubles and a homer, across his last 12 trips to the plate while he's now homered three times over his last 18 plate appearances. Julien has been excellent for the Twins in his rookie season, hitting .285 with seven home runs and an .877 OPS across 157 trips to the plate.

Sat Jul 15 202318:33Edouard Julien Out Again Saturday
Minnesota Twins second baseman Edouard Julien is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against righty Austin Pruitt and the Oakland Athletics. The rookie has enjoyed his time in the big leagues this year, slashing .270/.355/.515 with seven home runs across 44 games, but won't start for the second straight day. Instead, the club will use Kyle Farmer at second base. The 32-year-old will bat fifth and try to improve on his .240 average, four bombs, 27 runs, 17 RBI, and one steal this season over 63 contests. Those are boring numbers, and fantasy managers can find better on the wire.

Thu Jun 15 202318:07Edouard Julien Out Of The Lineup On Thursday
Minnesota Twins second baseman Edouard Julien is not in Thursday's lineup versus the Detroit Tigers. The 24-year-old has been a platoon-specific fantasy commodity thus far, slashing .279/.383/.544 in 82 plate appearances against right-handed pitching. On the other hand, Julien has only seen eight at-bats against left-handers this year. The Twins face southpaw Joey Wentz on Saturday with a few TBDs in between in terms of Detroit's probable pitchers for this weekend. Fantasy managers streaming Minnesota's No. 4 prospect in Jorge Polanco's (hamstring) stead need to monitor the situation.

Sat Jun 10 202312:29Edouard Julien Back In The Big Leagues
The Minnesota Twins recalled infield prospect Edouard Julien from Triple-A St. Paul on Saturday after placing second baseman Jorge Polanco (hamstring) on the 10-day injured list. Julien, the team's No. 4 prospect per MLB Pipeline, is starting at second base and hitting leadoff on Saturday against Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Trevor Richards. The 24-year-old left-handed-hitting Canadian has gone only 14-for-62 (.226) in his first 19 big-league games in 2023, but he's been decent against right-handed pitching and has all four of his home runs against them. Julien is worth a pickup in deep-mixed leagues for middle infield depth, and he should play regularly against righties at the keystone in Minnesota until Polanco returns.

Thu Jun 1 202312:28Edouard Julien Optioned To Triple-A
The Minnesota Twins optioned rookie infielder Edouard Julien to Triple-A St. Paul on Thursday to make room for second baseman Jorge Polanco (hamstring) on the active roster after his return from the 10-day injured list. It's a tough break for the 24-year-old prospect, who MLB Pipeline has ranked as the team's No. 4 prospect, but he was hitting .210 (13-for-62) overall with two doubles, four home runs and eight RBI in his first 19 MLB contests. Julien will head back to the minors so that he can play regularly, but if the Twins need another infielder again, he might be their first call. The left-handed hitter combines a patient approach at the plate with above-average power for a second baseman.

Sun May 21 202309:06Edouard Julien Recalled From Triple-A
Minnesota Twins second baseman Edouard Julien was called up from Triple-A St. Paul ahead of Saturday's game with the Los Angeles Angels. Jorge Polanco (hamstring) hit the injured list with a hamstring strain earlier in the day, paving the way for the rookie's return to the majors after a brief stay earlier this year. Julien is Minnesota's number-four overall prospect and has gone 6-for-29 with two homers and four RBI so far in the bigs. The 24-year-old was not in Saturday's lineup, but he came in to relieve Byron Buxton (calf) who exited the outing early. Julien is not a must-add fantasy player at this time, but he will see increased playing time in Polanco's stead.

Sun Apr 16 202312:38Edouard Julien Hitting Leadoff Against Yankees
Minnesota Twins rookie second baseman Edouard Julien is getting the nod in the leadoff spot for the Twins on Sunday against the New York Yankees and right-hander Gerrit Cole. Julien also hit leadoff for Minnesota on Saturday and appears to be settling into the top spot in the lineup against right-handed pitchers despite getting just two hits in his first 14 major-league at-bats with a solo home run, one walk and three strikeouts in his first four games. Outfielder Byron Buxton remains at designated hitter and is batting third in the lineup against New York's ace. The leadoff spot gives the 23-year-old Julien more DFS upside, but he's hard to recommend on Sunday against one of the most dominant strikeout pitchers in the game.

Fri Apr 14 202300:17Edouard Julien Knocks First Hit And Homer Thursday
Minnesota Twins second baseman Edouard Julien had a memorable day at the dish on Thursday, going 2-for-5 with his first career hit and home run in an 11-2 drubbing of the New York Yankees. Interestingly enough, the hit and home run came in separate at-bats but were both in the first inning of this one. The 23-year-old top prospect was leading off for the Twins today, and based on his performance, he could stay at that spot until Jorge Polanco (knee) is ready to return. Fantasy managers in deeper leagues who are in need of a second baseman may want to take a flier on Julien and see if he can continue impressing.
