Robinson went back to Arkansas to be with his wife, and will likely be away from the team for the next few days. With Ryan Zimmerman also out, Tyler Moore is drawing the start at first base Friday.

Robinson could be placed on the paternity list in the coming days as he and his wife are expecting the birth of their first child "any day now," Bill Ladson of MLB.com reports.

Robinson hasn't been much of a fixture in Washington's lineup of late, playing just two full games in September. In limited action this month, he's batted .357 with five RBI and five walks. He could miss Washington's upcoming series against the Marlins if he is placed on the paternity list, however.

Robinson received his first start in five games while Michael Taylor sat out with right knee soreness to open up a spot in the lineup. Taylor's injury isn't considered significant, so Robinson figures to see his at-bats diminish once the center fielder returns to full health. The Nationals don't have many alternatives in center beyond Taylor now that Denard Span (hip) is out for the season, so even though Robinson has produced more value at the plate this season with a .358 on-base percentage, Taylor appears poised to see action ahead of him.

Playing time has been scarce for Robinson lately, but with Bryce Harper potentially being pushed into duty in center field due to injuries to Denard Span (hip) and Michael Taylor (knee), Robinson could see a short-term boost in at-bats until Taylor is ready to rejoin the starting lineup.

Jayson Werth was scheduled for a day off, but he reported feeling good upon his arrival to the ballpark and seemingly talked his way into the lineup. Robinson will sit with Werth now slated to play left field, marking his 14th time on the bench in 21 August games.
