Wed Mar 29 202313:31Garrett Hill Makes Tigers Opening Day Roster
Detroit Tigers right-hander Garrett Hill has made the team's Opening Day roster, according to sources. Meanwhile, Beau Brieske (undisclosed) will likely start the 2023 regular season on the injured list. Hill didn't look very good in spring training, posting a bloated 7.11 ERA and 1.58 WHIP in 12 2/3 frames, but he'll make the big-league team to begin the season anyway. The 27-year-old will likely open up the year as a long reliever out of the bullpen for Detroit, and he won't have any fantasy value to speak of. In his rookie season in 2022, Hill had a 4.03 ERA (5.15 FIP), 1.36 WHIP, 29 walks and 40 strikeouts in 60 1/3 innings over 17 appearances (eight starts).

Wed Jul 20 202211:27Garrett Hill To Start Game 2 On Thursday
The Detroit Tigers will be calling up right-hander Garrett Hill from the minors so that he can start Game 2 of a doubleheader on Thursday against the Oakland Athletics. He will be opposed by A's right-hander Frankie Montas (shoulder). Hill will be making just his third big-league start for the Tigers after allowing seven earned runs on eight hits while walking three and striking out four over 11 innings in his first two starts against the Cleveland Guardians and Chicago White Sox. The 26-year-old has a 3.23 ERA and 1.08 WHIP with 98 K's and 25 walks in 69 2/3 innings over 15 starts for Triple-A Toledo and Double-A Erie this year in the minors. It's a very favorable matchup against the last-place A's, but Hill is still a pretty shaky fantasy streamer for Thursday.
