Tue Mar 2614:39Tigers Option Beau Brieske
The Detroit Tigers have optioned right-hander Beau Brieske to Triple-A Toledo, leaving Joey Wentz and Alex Faedo as the two arms likely to begin the season in the club's bullpen. It's certainly disappointing news for the 25-year-old considering he did not allow an earned run in his 13 2/3 innings of work this spring but the fact he has three option years remaining made him expendable. The righty worked to a 3.60 ERA across 25 outings in the 2023 season after he debuted with 15 starts of 4.19 ERA ball in the 2022 season. Although he is headed to the minors for the time being, Brieske is highly regarded and could even be in the mix for saves down the line as fantasy managers will want to keep an eye on his status moving forward.

Tue Mar 2612:10Tigers Option Beau Brieske To Triple-A
The Detroit Tigers optioned right-hander Beau Brieske to Triple-A Toledo on Tuesday. The Tigers now have 28 players remaining in major-league camp with Opening Day coming on Thursday. Brieske lost out to Joey Wentz and Alex Faedo for one of the last spots in Detroit's bullpen to start the year. The 25-year-old former 27th-round pick in 2019 out of Colorado State-Pueblo has made 40 appearances (16 starts) in the majors for the Tigers the last two years and has a 4.01 ERA (4.68 FIP), a 1.25 WHIP, two saves, 37 walks and 85 strikeouts in 116 2/3 innings pitched. The Tigers could elect to stretch him out in the minors to give them more flexibility if they call him up to the big-league roster this year.

Fri Aug 11 202300:50Beau Brieske Closes Out Twins Thursday
Detroit Tigers relief pitcher Beau Brieske recorded a two-inning save on Thursday, shutting down the Minnesota Twins in a 3-0 victory. Brieske didn't allow a baserunner and had no strikeouts. This is certainly an interesting development, as the Tigers' are in search of a ninth-inning option after Alex Lange's recent control issues got the better of him. Brieske has been great in a small sample size this year, pitching to a 2.08 ERA and 0.92 WHIP in 13 IP. All that being said, Jason Foley has been the Tigers' eighth-inning guy this year and may have just been getting some extra rest after pitching two of the previous three days. Keep an eye on this situation in deeper leagues for now.

Sat Aug 6 202211:05Beau Brieske Strikes Out Eight In Rehab Start
Detroit Tigers rookie right-hander Beau Brieske (forearm) looked really good in his latest minor league rehab start for Triple-A Toledo on Friday night, giving up one run on three hits while striking out eight and walking none in 4 1/3 innings of work. He has given up three runs on eight hits while striking out 10 and walking two in his two rehab starts since landing on the injured list in mid-July with right forearm fatigue. There's a chance that Friday's outing was his last before rejoining Detroit's starting rotation at some point next week. In his first 15 big-league starts in 2022, the 24-year-old has gone 3-6 with a 4.19 ERA (4.97 FIP), A 1.20 WHIP and a 54:25 K:BB in 81 2/3 innings pitched.
