Thu Apr 422:10Jorge Barrosa Sent Back To Triple-A
The Arizona Diamondbacks optioned outfield prospect Jorge Barrosa back to Triple-A on Wednesday after the team's extra-inning loss to the New York Yankees. The team's No. 12 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, was called up to the big leagues for the first time on Monday when the team put center fielder Alek Thomas (hamstring) on the injured list. The 23-year-old had two hits (one double), an RBI, one run scored and a strikeout in his first 10 big-league plate appearances over three games played (two starts) this week. It appears that veteran Randal Grichuk (ankle) is getting set to come off the injured list as outfield depth for Arizona. However, the switch-hitting Barrosa could definitely be back up with the D-backs in 2024 and offers some decent slugging upside for those in NL-only leagues if he returns.

Mon Apr 119:30Diamondbacks Promote Jorge Barrosa
The Arizona Diamondbacks promoted outfield prospect Jorge Barrosa on Monday. Barrosa will take the spot of Alek Thomas (hamstring) who was placed on the 10-day injured list prior to Friday's matchup. The 5-foot-5, switch-hitter hit .274 with 13 homers, 65 RBI and 15 stolen bases last season for Triple-A Reno and was 2-for-8 this season. Even with Thomas sidelined, Barrosa offers nothing more than a bench spot for the Diamondbacks and should remain on the waiver wire in all leagues.
