Mon Apr 2212:37Darius Vines Optioned On Sunday
The Atlanta Braves optioned right-hander Darius Vines to Triple-A Gwinnett after Sunday's loss to the Texas Rangers. In a corresponding move, the Braves called up right-hander Bryce Elder, who will start the series opener versus the Miami Marlins on Monday. Vines took the loss against Texas on Sunday, giving up four runs on seven hits while striking out just two in five innings of work. The 25-year-old got off to a good start on Sunday before falling apart. Vines gave up one earned run with three walks and four strikeouts in 4 2/3 innings for a no-decision against the Astros in his first start of the year on April 15. He'll go back to the minors for now, but we could definitely see Vines back in the majors making a spot start for the Braves at some point this year.

Wed Apr 1713:12Darius Vines To Make Another Start Sunday
Atlanta Braves right-hander Darius Vines will make another start for the team on Sunday at home against the defending World Series-champion Texas Rangers. Vines earned another start in Atlanta's starting rotation after giving up just one earned run on four hits while walking three and striking out four in his season debut on April 15 against the Houston Astros in 4 2/3 innings. The 25-year-old could stick around even longer with Spencer Strider (elbow) out for the season if he looks good again this weekend. Still, fantasy managers in need of pitching depth or those looking for a streamer on Sunday should be hesitant to go all-in on Vines in the tough matchup. The Braves have plenty of other options for their rotation, so Vines is going to need to continue to impress to stick around.

Fri Apr 1212:20Darius Vines Recalled On Friday
Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Darius Vines has been recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett on Friday. The organization is still searching for a viable option for the fifth spot in the rotation after the loss of Spencer Strider (elbow) who was placed on the injured list. Vines is expected to help fill out the rotation, so the rest of the starters can stay on schedule. In a corresponding move, right-hander Allan Winans has been optioned to Triple-A. Fantasy managers can go ahead and avoid Vines until further notice.

Wed Sep 27 202312:17Darius Vines Making Second Career Start Versus Cubs
Atlanta Braves rookie right-hander Darius Vines will make his second career MLB start on Wednesday against the visiting Chicago Cubs. Vines has made four appearances at the big-league level this year and has given up seven earned runs on 11 hits (one homer) while walking five and striking out nine in 14 1/3 innings. The 25-year-old made his major-league debut on Aug. 30 in a start in Colorado against the Rockies and gave up two earned runs while striking out five in six innings pitched to pick up his first career victory. He's given up at least one run in all four of his outings so far and surrendered three earned runs in 3 1/3 innings of relief in his last appearance against the Washington Nationals on Sept. 22. Vines isn't a recommended fantasy streamer against a Cubs team fighting for the last wild-card spot in the National League.

Wed Aug 30 202308:41Darius Vines Starting Wednesday's Game
Atlanta Braves right-hander Darius Vines will make his Major League debut on Wednesday when he faces Kyle Freeland and the Colorado Rockies, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports. The 25-year-old was recently promoted to the big leagues after pitching to a 2.86 ERA with 25 punchouts and 11 walks over 28 1/3 innings at Triple-A. Vines is the Braves No. 10 prospect, according to MLB Pipeline, but fantasy managers should leave him on the waiver wire for now. It's unclear how many starts the former seventh-round pick will get, as he could move to the bullpen following Wednesday's contest.

Mon Aug 28 202314:07Braves Call Up Pitching Prospect Darius Vines
The Atlanta Braves recalled right-handed pitching prospect Darius Vines from the minors on Monday and optioned left-hander Jared Schuster to Triple-A Gwinnett in a corresponding move. Per MLB Pipeline, Vines is Atlanta's No. 10 prospect. The 25-year-old has only made nine starts in the minors this year in the Rookie League and High-A Rome and Gwinnett after missing most of the season with a shoulder injury. But in his nine starts he's done well, posting a 2.70 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, 14 walks and 46 strikeouts in 43 1/3 innings. Vines could make a spot start for the Braves at some point the rest of the way, but he's mostly expected to work out of the bullpen in his first taste of the big leagues. Fantasy managers in mixed redraft leagues can probably avoid him for now.
