Tue Apr 1619:56Seiya Suzuki To Be Out "In The Four-Week Range"
Chicago Cubs outfielder Seiya Suzuki (oblique), who went on the injured list on Monday with a right-oblique strain, will be sidelined "in the four-week range," but the Cubs will have a better timeline for his return once he's symptom-free, according to manager Craig Counsell. It means that the 29-year-old won't be ready to return when he's eligible to come off the 10-day IL, but fantasy managers should still keep him stashed in all leagues, especially after he started the year 18-for-59 (.305) with three home runs, 13 RBI and 11 runs scored. With Suzuki set to miss at least several weeks, outfield prospect Alexander Canario, the club's No. 10 prospect per MLB Pipeline, is going to get his first extended look in the big leagues. He's starting in right field and hitting ninth on Tuesday against Arizona Diamondbacks left-hander Tommy Henry.

Mon Apr 1518:21Seiya Suzuki Placed On Injured List
Chicago Cubs outfielder Seiya Suzuki (oblique) has been placed on the 10-day injured list on Monday. This is a tough blow to both fantasy managers and the Cubs roster. Suzuki was hitting .305 with an .893 OPS along with three homers and 13 RBI over the first 15 games of the season. Barring any setbacks, Suzuki could be back on the Cubs roster by the end of April. In a corresponding move, outfielder Alexander Canario has been recalled from Triple-A Iowa. He's one of the better hitting prospects in Chicago and should get a fair amount of playing time with Suzuki sidelined.

Thu Apr 401:08Seiya Suzuki Continues Hot Hitting
Chicago Cubs outfielder Seiya Suzuki drove in four runs during Wednesday's 9-8 win over the Colorado Rockies, going 3-for-5 with a solo home run during the fifth inning. Suzuki also contributed to a four-run Cubs second inning with a single to right center that scored Mike Tauchman and Nico Hoerner. After Chicago let the Rockies get back into the game, Suzuki drove in his fourth run of the contest on a fielder's choice in the eighth frame. Not only did the 29-year-old Japanese slugger end 2023 on a high note, but he also hit .459 with a 1.593 OPS, six long balls, 12 RBI, and two stolen bases in 41 spring training plate appearances. That momentum appears to be carrying over into the regular season, as Suzuki is now batting .333 with a .972 OPS, two bombs, and eight RBI over his first 27 at-bats. His hot streak will be challenged during an upcoming three-game weekend set against a much more talented Los Angeles Dodgers pitching staff.

Tue Mar 2611:41Seiya Suzuki Rips Two More Home Runs Monday
Chicago Cubs outfielder Seiya Suzuki blasted a pair of home runs on Monday in a 6-3 Cactus League loss to the Cardinals. It was the second time this spring he's had a multi-HR game, and he's got six home runs total in Cactus League action. Overall, the 29-year-old is batting .459 (17-for-37) with five doubles, six home runs, 12 RBI, 13 runs scored, and two stolen bases. He'll head into the regular season on a roll and is looking more and more like a value at his NFBC ADP of 103. RotoBaller ranks him at 88 overall. The Cubs get their regular season started Thursday in Arlington against the Rangers.

Sat Mar 1621:02Seiya Suzuki Hits Two Homers On Saturday
Chicago Cubs outfielderSeiya Suzuki continued his blistering spring training with two home runs on Saturday against the Kansas City Royals. He went 3-for-3 with two home runs, three RBI, and three runs scored in Saturday's 7-6 spring win over the Royals. Suzuki is having a fantastic spring, hitting a .440 batting average and a 1.401 OPS in 25 at-bats. ATC projects Suzuki to hit for a .271/.351/.465 slash line to go along with 21 HR and 74 RBI in 2024. The slash line would slightly decrease from 2023, while his home runs and RBI numbers would be nearly identical. Fantasy managers are likely expecting Suzuki to impact their rosters, as he currently has a 115 ADP. The Japanese star looks to be in for another productive season as the Cubs look to make a run in an open NL Central in 2024.

Thu Mar 1412:16Seiya Suzuki Could Stick In Second Spot In Lineup
The Athletic's Sahadev Sharma points out that Chicago Cubs outfielder Seiya Suzuki has mostly been hitting second in Cactus League games this spring. Suzuki hit all over the lineup during his first two seasons, but in theory, the two-hole could be where he could most help the Cubs. From Aug. 1, Suzuki's 183 wRC+ was third-best in baseball. He has turned a corner and found a comfort level at the plate, and it's not a stretch to call him the most complete hitter on the team now. Manager Craig Counsell usually prefers to put his best hitters at the top of the lineup, so expect Suzuki to at least start the season as the No. 2 hitter in what could be a pretty potent Chicago lineup. RotoBaller considers the 29-year-old as the No. 23 fantasy outfielder this year.

Fri Mar 117:53Seiya Suzuki Reaches Base Once Friday
Chicago Cubs outfielder Seiya Suzuki drew a walk as part of his two plate appearances during Friday's Cactus League contest versus the Chicago White Sox. His first-inning free pass was followed by a pop out to first base in the bottom of the third. It's been a solid spring for the 29-year-old in a small sample as he is 2-for-6 with a double and a walk across seven trips to the plate in three games. He will be looking to build off a strong sophomore campaign as Suzuki has been every bit of the five-year, $85 million contract the Cubs signed him to prior to the 2022 season. The outfielder hit .285 with 20 home runs, six stolen bases, and an .842 OPS across 138 appearances in the 2023 campaign. He doesn't offer elite power or speed but his 22 home runs, eight stolen bases, and .271 average projected by ATC make him a quality fantasy asset.

Sat Sep 23 202311:09Seiya Suzuki Adds To Late-Season Surge With Homer
Chicago Cubs outfielder Seiya Suzuki went 3-for-4 with a home run, three RBI, and two runs scored in Friday's 6-0 win over the Colorado Rockies. The 29-year-old drove one run in on a first-inning single before belting a fourth-inning two-run jack. Suzuki wasn't much of a difference maker since starting the season late with an oblique injury, but he has certainly risen lately as one of fantasy's most prominent league winners since the calendar flipped to August. He's hitting a torrid .346 with 12 home runs, 13 doubles, and 35 RBI in 159 at-bats since Aug. 2. Keep riding Suzuki's hot bat and hope the wheels don't come off ahead of fantasy championship week.

Sat Aug 5 202313:14Seiya Suzuki Taking A Seat On Saturday
Chicago Cubs outfielder Seiya Suzuki is not in the starting lineup on Saturday against the Atlanta Braves. The 28-year-old is in the midst of a 4-for-28 slump over the last seven games so Saturday's off day appears to just be a breather. Suzuki has been a letdown this season when compared to his stellar MLB rookie campaign a year ago. The 28-year-old is slashing .249/.328/.389 with nine home runs, 37 RBI, and five stolen bases over 337 at-bats. The red-hot Mike Tauchman is starting in right field and batting leadoff against Bryce Elder and the Braves.

Tue Jul 4 202314:01Seiya Suzuki Back In Tuesday's Lineup
Chicago Cubs outfielder Seiya Suzuki (neck) is returning to the starting lineup on Tuesday to face Milwaukee Brewers left-hander Wade Miley. He's starting in right field and hitting fifth in the batting order. Suzuki missed a few games last week with neck pain and took another day off on Monday, although he did enter the game as a pinch-hitter. It's something to watch heading into next week's All-Star break, but right now it's not serious enough to put him on the injured list. He's gone hitless in his last six games with seven strikeouts and has been on the skids sine the beginning of June offensively, so fantasy managers may want to keep him on the bench. The 28-year-old is hitting a strong .318 (20-for-63) with one of his six home runs against lefties, though.

Mon Jul 3 202314:00Seiya Suzuki Still Feeling Neck Issues
Chicago Cubs manager David Ross said that outfielder Seiya Suzuki (neck) is still feeling neck issues, which is why he wasn't included in the starting lineup on Monday for the series opener against the division-rival Milwaukee Brewers. However, Suzuki will be available to pinch hit. The 28-year-old Japanese outfielder missed three games last week but played on Saturday and Sunday against the Cleveland Guardians. He went 0-for-7 in those two games with two walks and still isn't 100 percent, but it doesn't sound like he's a candidate for the injured list just yet. Mike Tauchman is starting in right field and batting leadoff on Monday for the Cubbies against Brewers right-hander Julio Teheran. Tauchman is hitting only .211 (8-for-38) with a homer, seven RBI and 12 K's in his last nine games.

Mon Jul 3 202312:04Seiya Suzuki Resting Against Brewers
Chicago Cubs outfielder Seiya Suzuki is getting a breather on Monday against the division-rival Milwaukee Brewers. Suzuki had missed three games at the end of last week due to a neck injury, but he returned for the final two games of the weekend series against the Cleveland Guardians. The Cubs are just giving him a little more rest after returning on Saturday and Sunday. The 28-year-old Japanese outfielder has gone hitless in 20 at-bats over his last five games to drop his season line to .246/.335/.386 with six home runs, 13 doubles, a triple, 26 RBI and 25 runs scored in 272 trips to the plate over 64 games. Suzuki should be back in the lineup on Tuesday. In his absence on Monday, Mike Tauchman is starting in right field and batting leadoff against Brewers right-hander Julio Teheran.

Sat Jul 1 202316:32Seiya Suzuki Returning On Saturday
Chicago Cubs outfielder Seiya Suzuki (neck) is back in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Cleveland Guardians. The right-handed slugger will make his return to the lineup after missing each of the last three games due to neck stiffness. Luckily, this was a minor injury and didn't force Suzuki to the injured list. He'll serve as the designated hitter and bat cleanup versus right-hander Tanner Bibee on Saturday. Fantasy managers should adjust their lineups with Suzuki back in there.

Fri Jun 30 202312:09Seiya Suzuki To Take Batting Practice Friday
Chicago Cubs outfielder Seiya Suzuki (neck) will take batting practice on the field on Friday. Suzuki will miss his third straight game on Friday as the team takes on the Cleveland Guardians, but he's feeling good enough to take batting practice and should be able to return to the lineup before the weekend is over as long as his hitting session on Friday goes well. Mike Tauchman will get another start in right field with Suzuki out, and he'll hit leadoff once again on Friday against Guardians right-hander Cal Quantrill. The 28-year-old Suzuki is a regular in the outfield for the Cubbies when healthy, and he's currently hitting .253 (58-for-229) with six home runs, 13 doubles, a triple, 26 RBI and 25 runs scored in 62 games in his second MLB campaign.

Thu Jun 29 202317:30Seiya Suzuki Still Absent Thursday
Chicago Cubs outfielder Seiya Suzuki (neck) remains absent from the team's starting lineup on Thursday against the visiting Philadelphia Phillies. Suzuki is dealing with tightness in his neck and will be missing his second straight game, but fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now. Mike Tauchman will get the start in right field on Thursday and will occupy the leadoff spot for the Cubbies against Phillies right-hander Taijuan Walker. On top of the neck injury, Suzuki has been struggling at the plate of late, going 4-for-32 (.125) with no homers and four RBI in his last eight games. Hopefully for his fantasy managers, the 28-year-old Japanese outfielder will return soon and turn things around with the lumber.

Wed Jun 28 202318:27Seiya Suzuki Absent On Wednesday
Chicago Cubs outfielder Seiya Suzuki (neck) is absent from Wednesday's starting lineup against the Philadelphia Phillies. It sounds like Suzuki woke up with neck stiffness, so the team doesn't want to risk anything. This doesn't sound like a significant injury, so fantasy managers should consider Suzuki as day-to-day. In the meantime, Christopher Morel will cover right field and bat third versus right-hander Aaron Nola. Fantasy managers should expect Suzuki back within the next few days.

Chicago Cubs outfielder Seiya Suzuki is absent from Saturday's starting lineup against the San Francisco Giants. This appears to be a routine rest day for the 28-year-old outfielder. Suzuki is slashing .278/.367/.450 with six home runs and 19 RBI through his first 50 games of the season. Christopher Morel will bat third and cover right field versus right-hander John Brebbia on Saturday. The expectation is that Suzuki will return to the lineup after this contest.

Fri May 26 202312:06Seiya Suzuki Resting Against Reds
Chicago Cubs outfielder Seiya Suzuki will take the day off on Friday against the Cincinnati Reds. The day off isn't because he's been struggling, either, as Suzuki has gone 12-for-32 (.375) with two doubles, four home runs, seven RBI and a stolen base in his last nine games. The 28-year-old Japanese outfielder is having a strong second season in the big leagues for the Cubs to this point, hitting .293 (39-for-133) with eight doubles, a triple, six home runs, 19 RBI, one steal and 16 runs scored in 154 plate appearances in 37 games played. He'll be back in the starting lineup on Saturday. Christopher Morel, who has an absurd nine homers and 15 RBI in 14 games, is starting in right field and is hitting sixth on Friday against Reds right-hander Hunter Greene.

It was the second time he logged two home runs in a game in his career. This remarkable achievement includes his last at-bat during Tuesday's contest, where he launched a home run.
