Betemit has been suspended for 50-games without pay for testing positive for Amphetamine, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.

The veteran spent all of 2014 in Triple-A, batting just .217/.298/.396 with 18 home runs and 50 RBI. He will miss the first 50 games of the season without pay, at which point he will be able to return to the Rays organization.

Wilson Betemit has yet to report to Rays' camp due to visa issues.
Relievers Juan Carlos Oviedo and Juan Sandoval are also absent due to visa problems. As long as the situation doesn't take too long to be resolved, Betemit will have time to get his work in and still be a good bet to crack the Opening Day roster.

Rays signed INF Wilson Betemit to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Betemit was limited to just 10 plate appearances last season due to a knee injury. The switch-hitter could potentially platoon with Matt Joyce in the designated hitter spot, though Betemit has always hit right-handers (.819 OPS) much better than left-handers (.636 OPS). At the very least, he'll be another movable piece for manager Joe Maddon.

Wilson Betemit (knee) will begin a minor league rehab assignment next Tuesday with the Orioles' Gulf Coast League affiliate.
It's been a long road back for Betemit, who had surgery to repair a PCL tear in his right knee in April, but he's finally ready for game action. The Orioles have received very little production out of the DH spot this year, so a healthy Betemit could be useful down the stretch.
