Free-agent left-hander Zach Logue has signed a minor-league deal with the Atlanta Braves. The southpaw endured a difficult 2023 season in the Tigers' organization, as he surrendered nine earned runs on the back of three homers in just 11 innings with the Tigers while posting a 6.58 ERA across 27 appearances (21 starts) with Triple-A Toledo. A ninth-round pick of the Toronto Blue Jays in the 2017 MLB draft, Logue owns a 6.88 ERA across 17 MLB outings (10 starts) spanning 68 innings of work. He also owns a career 4.55 ERA across 111 starts and 128 appearances in his minor-league career. Logue elected free agency in early October.

The Detroit Tigers designated pitcher Zach Logue for assignment on Saturday, per a tweet from the team's official public relations Twitter account. The 26-year-old was designated for assignment by the Tigers on Saturday to clear a spot on the 40-man roster for infielder Tyler Nevin. Nevin was acquired in a trade for cash considerations from the Baltimore Orioles. Logue made 14 appearances for the Oakland Athletics this past season, 10 of which were starts. He pitched to a 6.79 ERA and a 5.76 FIP in 57 innings in those 14 appearances for the American League West club, to go along with 42 strikeouts and 20 walks allowed.

The Detroit Tigers claimed left-hander Zach Logue off waivers on Friday after he was previously designated for assignment by the Oakland Athletics. Logue made his major-league debut in 2022 with the A's, going 3-8 with a 6.79 ERA (5.76 FIP), a 1.54 WHIP, 42 strikeouts and 20 walks in 57 innings over 14 outings (10 starts). He allowed a whopping 13 home runs and 43 earned runs. The 26-year-old southpaw also had a rough 8.12 ERA at Triple-A Las Vegas in the minors. Logue has posted a career 4.18 ERA in five minor-league seasons, though, so he could bounce back in 2023, although he's unlikely to make Detroit's starting rotation out of spring training.

Sadly, Logue has struggled heavily and should be avoided as a streaming option He's posting a 5.16 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 23/11 K/BB ratio across 29 2/3 innings in seven appearances (six starts) with the A's. It's unclear if Logue is only here as the 27th-man or if he'll stick around in Oakland. Regardless, fantasy managers shouldn't expect much from Logue.

Oakland Athletics left-hander Zach Logue will make his first major league start on Friday against the Minnesota Twins on the road. Logue, the team's No. 20 prospect per MLB Pipeline, was called up from the minors when the A's placed starting pitcher Cole Irvin (shoulder) on the injured list. The 26-year-old will have a chance to make another start in Irvin's place if he performs well against Minnesota on Friday, but fantasy managers shouldn't be expecting all that much. Logue only has 1 1/3 innings of experience in relief in the majors this year, and he has a 3.51 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 8.4 K/9 in five minor league seasons over 430 1/3 innings pitched. In four minor league starts for Triple-A Las Vegas this year, Logue allowed 10 earned runs on 21 hits (five homers allowed) while walking eight and striking out 13 in 16 innings.
